QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jan 25, 2007 -> 12:18 PM) I am glad I didn't watch that. As I expected, Marty B was less than spectacular. I don't understand either comment.

Comcast now has a Versus/Golf Channel HD channel. Before I used to hope games would be carried on the INHD channel, but now with their own channel, they are guaranteed to be on there if scheduled...and it seems that more games are in HD now, even ones that don't have an HD icon next to them on the versus online schedule.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 24, 2007 -> 10:06 PM) I have let my feelings on this know before, but just give me a leadoff hitter than can find a way to get the f*** on base. Agreed. All you really need is a guy that can go from 1st to 3rd and 2nd to home, not necessarily steal a million bases. If he has that 'speed' and can get on base, I think you are set.

Now Marty (Turco) is mic'd up and he's hilarious. He talks throughout the play and stuff. Versus has done a nice job covering this game and really giving the players a name, something that the NHL has tried to do for a couple years now.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 24, 2007 -> 08:40 PM) Really cool they can talk to Marty in goal... Until Rolston broke his mic with a slap shot...

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 23, 2007 -> 01:11 PM) Well, if Weber isn't on the hot seat yet (which based on the chatter of the only people that matter in college athletics, the boosters, he is) he's certainly be after a loss tonight. A loss tonight to the team that outdid him for the only good recruit he ever had, on ESPN, on the home floor, eliminating the Illini from the tournament, officially starts a clock that may reach zero by the end of next season. I wouldn't mind it pesonally, I'd love to see a coach that can actually bring in players that can do something. Only guy worth a damn Bruce has brought in is Pruitt. Go back into your hole, you're a pathetic excuse for an Illini fan. Nice grind it out game tonight, we needed that win much more than IU did. Good to see some guys stepped up without Randle on the floor as well. Pruitt is proving to be a beast as of late. -

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 21, 2007 -> 11:52 PM) Go figure. Evansville loses to Missouri State by 54 points 13 days ago and turns around and beats them by 7 today. Speaking of not figuring things out, can someone that has ESPN Insider post the following? http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index...ame%3dkatz_andy]Hard to decipher MVC[/url] Just forget about trying to figure out some sort of home-road trend in the Missouri Valley Conference. Let's just accept that this is a strong league, a balanced league that will be an interesting test case for the selection committee as they try to sort out who should be at-large candidates. Thursday night provided another example of how difficult it is to make sense of this league. Northern Iowa won at Missouri State but Wichita State couldn't win at Illinois State. This is the same ISU team that knocked off Northern Iowa at home and the same Illinois State squad that currently stands at the bottom of the Valley standings at 2-6. The UNI Panthers and Creighton are atop the standings with two losses. Missouri State, the only team in the country to beat Wisconsin, is third with three losses tied with the preseason favorite -- Southern Illinois and Indiana State for third. Sweet 16 teams Bradley (4-4) and Wichita State (3-5), which is tied with Evansville, are next. Forget the numbers and the RPI and all of that. The subjective thing would be to say that Creighton, Northern Iowa, Missouri State, Southern Illinois and Wichita State have all played like a tournament team at some point during the season. But the closing numbers will be an interesting critique. "Our league is as good as it's been from 1 to 10," first-year Northern Iowa coach Ben Jacobson said. "It used to be there were four or five good teams and then there was a drop off. But that's why Illinois State is able to beat us and Wichita State." Jacobson said this will be a tough test for the selection committee, especially if there isn't separation of four or five teams atop the standings. "If everybody keeps beating each other up then we're going to have a different scenario and we'll see how it plays out," Jacobson said. His pick for the team that nobody better sleep on is still Wichita State. The Shockers, who opened the season with road wins at George Mason, LSU, Syracuse and Wyoming, have dropped 7 of 10 after winning the first nine games. The Shockers still go to Bradley, Evansville, Northern Iowa, Drake and Creighton and have five home games left, including Southern Illinois and Missouri State. "If they can survive the next three or four, then they could be OK," Jacobson said. But no team in the Valley may have as difficult a stretch as the Panthers to win the title, despite having the top frontcourt in the league in Eric Coleman and Grant Stout. The Panthers won at Wichita State and Missouri State but still have six road games to go, including Southern Illinois as well as Creighton. The best nonconference wins are over teams that may not be in the postseason in Iowa and Iowa State as well as Bucknell. The best close loss was at Washington, another team in NCAA trouble. "We played well there and led the entire game before losing," Jacobson said. "The problem is that we've got 11 league games and everything can change so fast around here. We found that out after our good start and then went down to Illinois State and got beat in overtime and then came home and got beat by Creighton. Everything changes so fast in this league." Just keep checking the scores and that's becoming obvious every day. -

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jan 20, 2007 -> 08:15 PM) Does ESPN pick these gameday games in advance or is it like football where they wait until a week or so before to decide? This UNC-G Tech game should be a blowout and isn't the best matchup on tap tonight. It's a shame ESPN doesn't have a PAC 10 agreement because I would love to see UCLA and Arizona battle in primetime. Not that it wasn't on tv, but the PAC 10 needs and deserves all the exposure it can get this year. Also A&M and Ok State would have been a better matchup. I guess ESPN has to suck up to the ACC, specifically the state of North Carolina as much as possible. http://sports.espn.go.com/espntv/espnShow?showID=BKCG -

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 19, 2007 -> 07:40 AM) The Bears can really anger them and we can run out of the tunnel to the song" here i am rock you like a hurricane" I may go to hell, but i laughed my ass of at this...because this 'the nations team' s*** is getting way out of hand, and doesn't make ANY sense. Well done Jimbo.

Illini win at Minne 64-52 Carter, Randle had good games on offense. Trent played some pretty good PG, filliing in for Chester, who is still seriously banged up. Up 16 at half, it became a 'game' late in the 2nd half because we slept through much of it. I wish they would have put the pedal to the metal and just blew em out, but i guess we'll take what we can get. The game was never in serious doubt whatsoever. We had a really good first half and played well in stretches in the 2nd. Hopefully we can start playing 2 halves in a basketball game... Home against Wisky saturday. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 11:39 PM) The Hawks just need to ship out the dead weight in terms of veterans (Aucoin, Cullimore, possibly LaPointe) for picks / players with expiring contracts, play the youngsters, and get a top 5 pick in this draft. I know that doesn't sound good, but if the Sox could draft another top notch young forward, then you've a trifecta of Toews, Skille and Kane / Esposito (for example) that could be up with the team in a couple of years. They're on the right path, but Tallon needs to make some moves on the trade front (and not sacrifice the long - term future of the team). And Khabi probably needs a break. So much easier said than done considering their contracts, age, and s***ty play. At least some are sitting/injured, and the young guys are playing...although Buf looks terrible so far Also, i don't know where Kane would fit into Kenny Williams' plans...
