  1. Well Rex your first post claimed that you guys don't obsess about Illinois in any way. Yet Aboz and others are on here constantly bring up the 'jealous of EJ' bs whether EJ is the topic at hand. This particular time it wasn't. Just like you with Illinois, i'm hoping IU loses more and more due to certain posters around here. There's quite a few people who can add some good discussion to this thread, then there are others that spew constant garbage and jump all over other teams and their fans for pretty much no reason. Of course we're all going to take our respective sides on the Gordon thing due to our team loyalties, but that doesn't mean it should be brought up every time an IU or UI opinion comes up around here. At times this thread is way more of a b****ing fest than it is actual discussion, and that's a damn shame. Some of these acts are getting tiresome.
  2. QUOTE(Dan @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 04:39 PM) Let's Go Buffalo! id be willing to bet that I have PLAYED hockey longer than you have been watching it. As if that proves anything. Congrats on being old.

  4. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) It's a rivalry game and it wasn't just a home win. It was a f***ing poleaxing. Same as the game against Michigan St. Don't look now but IU is a sleeper in this league. Their 4 losses are by a combined 20 points at Duke, at Kentucky, at Ohio State and against Butler on a neutral court. It'll be scary once KS gets his own players in here and doesn't have to make the most out of Mike Davis recruits. When will you get over the sour EJ grapes? Probably never. But hey, I'm not surprised. You guys are left with nothing, I feel sad for Bruce Almighty and the Orange Krush too. Wait, no I don't. No, it's when will YOU get over the whole EJ thing. You bring it up in basically every post in response to anything any Illinois fan ever says. If you aren't doing that, you're busy posting bulls*** pieces about how Weber's honeymoon is over. And then people wonder why Illinois fans want IU to crash and burn.
  5. Well at least the "he hasn't failed a test" Bonds ass lickers can shut up now.
  6. QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 10, 2007 -> 09:44 PM) far from impressive win tonight at the hall, but i'll take any sort of W at this point. This team has to learn to consistently get the ball inside. They spent the entire first half chucking up 3's with 5 ticks left on the shot clock. Once they started to find the soft spot in the zone they looked awesome offensively. Randle had a really nice game. He FINALLY started to drive to the basket again instead of chucking up outside shots. Basically every time he drove it resulted in a dunk, layup, assist, or foul. That's what he needs to do on a nightly basis. Also, McBride finally put the orange thing in the hoop on a consistent basis. We let Iowa back in the game again at the very end with stupid turnovers, but made enough free throws to hang on. Needed that win for sure, phew.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 10, 2007 -> 02:42 PM) Big game for the Hawkeyes tonight against the vast majority of this boards Fightin Illini. Win or you might as well board up the Hall for the rest of the season. If you can't beat Iowa at home (I bet we're favored by around 10) after a losing streak like this...enough said. If we shoot with our eyes closed tonight we'll probly have a better % than we did against OSU.
  8. If OSU can figure out how to get a bit more of an inside game and not have those quick 10 second possessions where they fire up threes, they will be absolutely deadly. Wisconsing very good fundamentally tonight, I was impressed by their effort. Note, i also loved the 39-2, 12-2 references at Kohl Center
  9. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 05:31 PM) you know, as an illinois fan i'd love to jump on the bandwagon and give zook a bunch of credit for florida's nc, but i just can't do it. any illinois fan wanting to claim credit for zook better be a charter member of the bill self fan club because those situations are very similar. yes, zook brough 23 of 24 (not 22 of 24 because people are missing nelson) recruits into that program. that said, zook has yet to prove he can outcoach anyone and last night urban meyer outcoached jim tressel. so the great majority of credit has to go to meyer and the players he has now, just as the huge majority of credit for illinois's final four run in 05 goes to weber and his players, not self. just trying to be consistent here. Exactly.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 02:04 PM) Whats so funny? Did Smith's bad game last night make Brady Quinn a better player? Troy Smith by far had the worst game of his career, and spent half the game on his back. OSU was out coached and outplayed and Troy's timing couldnt have been worse. It's hilarious because you spent the entire season whining about how much Quinn sucks, and how Smith will go before him in the draft without a doubt. Well, you're wrong, and last night was just the exclamation point on the whole thing. So i'll keep laughing.
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 10:17 AM) Doesnt change the fact that Quinn does still suck, but Smith played his worst game of his career on the biggest stage. He really killed any hype he had at that point. LMAO
  12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 8, 2007 -> 11:21 PM) Craig Krenzel anyone? That was pathetic. At least we won't have to listen to Rock's Smith hype anymore. 1st overall pick, Quinn sucks, blah blah blah. Eat it Rock.
  13. So I found this while looking around the Sox website: "Regular-priced individual parking costs $20 per game." Driving is becoming a huge, huge hassle with gas costs, parking costs, and traffic.
  14. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jan 7, 2007 -> 08:12 PM) You've confused the football coach Bobby Petrino with the basketball coach Rick Pitino, and it looks like the falcons got him! ESPN No it's a package deal - their offense will be known as basketball on grass. BTW, Bears play at 12:00 Sunday.
  15. Justin and I will be at Ill/OSU tomorrow. I wonder if he knows SIU isn't playing... J/K, we're recording it at Steve's and then watching it after.
  16. So it's 1:40 and Justin and I just got home from dealing with 3 cop cars surrounding our cars. We pulled over to help this guy at like 12:00 (i originally pulled over to help him, then justin came 30 minutes later as he was coming to my house) that had his car die on him. We pushed his car up a hill for like 5 minutes to a subdivision to get it out of the way. As we get to the subdivision, the cops call and are wondering what in Tank Johnson's name is going on. We explain we were helping someone. We hurry back to our cars and there are 3 cop cars around our cars. Neither of us have had a drop of alcohol, but we were ready for the whole 9 yards. One of the cops was cool, but another yelled at us and said he would have towed em. Anyway, they called Justin's house, and a cop pulled up to my house as my sister got home and my family was scared s***less about what may have happened to me. Sure we should have moved our cars to face the right way (they were turned to try to jump it) but they were on the shoulder and out of the way and they threw a huge hissy fit about it. We almost got busted to some degree for helping someone out. We were sweating and our legs were burning like all hell pushing this car up a hill. Interesting night to say the least. BTW, we were supposed to leave for Champaign at about 12:00. Instead, we're finally leaving now.
  17. Wow, and it had nothing to do with hair/haircut.
  18. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 08:24 PM) well, i didn't say i was hugely confident in the win, i just said i was more confident in a win at home than on the road. that will be the way i look at most games, and percentages would support that. i didn't see the game last night, but from what i've read it was more examples of the same problems that have dogged us early on. in that respect, i didn't need to see it. frankly, people will rag on the talent thing because it's vogue and you don't have to look very closely to form that kind of opinion. spouting "weber can't recruit" is not news, nor is it showing any insight. yet people keep posting it as if it's some revelation. personally, i don't think talent is the biggest problem with this team. a lack of execution, poor position on defense, crappy ball movement, and injuries are problems that i'd put ahead of "talent" right now. that's on bruce as well, but it would be a lot easier to take people seriously in their criticism of him if the criticism was accurate and not just rehash of stuff that's been posted for months. We'll have to see what happens Saturday. Word has it the locker room was closed for 40 minutes after the game, the longest ever since Bruce has been around. The players were also instructed not to talk to the media. I bet the managers had to order a few new basketball clipboards for Bruce today, among other things. I think they'll either make a pretty good game of it Saturday or they'll come out and get rolled. Hopefully they respond to the 2 game losing streak and the closed door meeting, and even if they lose, look a lot better doing so. Home losses suck, but losing to OSU is far from a bad home loss. I just want to see something better than the s***ty effort at Michigan, because that was pretty ugly. Someone other than Jamar needs to be able to hit an open shot. And Randle better do something at either end of the floor. Too many bad fouls and too many long shots. The guy needs to get to the basket, one way or another. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 12:58 AM) Well sir, that so called mid major had the exact same record as the big 12 in last years ncaa tournament. This season the Valley so far is 2nd in the Conference rpi where the Big 12 is 6th. The Valley is over .500 against the bcs conferences, the big 12 is not. And the Valley is 3-3 against your big 12 this year. You can call the Valley whatever you please but it certainly isn't acting like a mid major on the basketball court. For all the mocking of the Valley i do around here, which is just a joke, they are not a mid major conference on the court anymore, period. Bilas talks about it all the time, but a loss to a valley team shouldn't be considered a bad loss...but to most, it is. And like Row knows, until that changes, and you actually get credit for beating one of em, who the hell wants to play em? There's no point.
  19. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 09:34 PM) Am I the only one who read the title? The starter is asking about a particular SPORT, not TEAM. Chicago Baseball = Cubs + White Sox + Cardinals Chicago Football = Bears + Packers No, actually i've been wondering the same thing.
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 05:07 PM) Just saw 'We Are Marshall'. I really really liked it. I can't even imagine what that was like when it happened. It is very good. Another one of those 'put life in perspective' movies, for sure. It is well done, i would definitely say go see it to anyone who hasn't.
  21. It was the Goff and Abbatacola show. They are wannabe B and B, and they suck. Especially Goff. I have been listening to B and B for over 5 years now, and i love em. They are hilarious, and they do know their stuff, especially Bernstein. It's probly one of those things where you love em or you hate em.
  22. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 07:44 AM) also, i guess i'm a little perplexed at the reaction from some illinois fans (not talking about people here) about the loss last night. maybe it's just a culmination of bad vibes or something, but when i looked at the schedule at the beginning of the season i chalked this up as a loss. we lost there last year and they returned more significant contributors than we did. frankly, i was more confident in a win saturday than i was in this one. Really? I'm not so confident in Saturday's game, and that was before last night's letdown. We were favored last night by like 3, and it was a half-empty arena. I don't think we'll be favorites on saturday. Last night's game was just really frustrating because it was very winnable. The guys constantly let up on defense, and when they had opportunities, they forced shots and made some dumb decisions. Saturday will be interesting, Row and I will be there to witness it.
  23. For only 16 games, i believe they would without a doubt. If the sox play only every other sunday at home, people would jam the place regardless of opponent. It's way easier to be a bears fan in this town than it is a baseball fan, as it's a shorter season. As i said earlier, they attract the 'dumb' fan very easily.
