  1. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) I don't actually get why people don't go to KC games. When I go to the Cell, I go to see a White Sox winner. That means that when there's a game I think the Sox will lose, I don't attend unless I have free tickets. I specifically pick my Sox games based on the chances of victory. That's why I don't go to the BOS or NYY games, and why I deeply regret spending $13 on an Oakland game. KC is a big bang for your buck ticket for me, because not only are the Sox probably going to win, they're also probably going to win comfortably, depending on the matchup. Some people would rather see a BIG game, regardless of what they think the outcome will be. The atmosphere at a big game is much better than it is at a lowly KC game.
  2. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) Speaking of which, what the hell happened to her? She used to be so pretty. Why was her performance so bad? She was screaming more than she was singing. It was brutal. Sounded nothing like the song.
  3. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) I once tried to do 100 shots of beer in 100 minutes. Same result as the gallon of milk. I think I got to 60-65, but to tell the truth, I was feeling kind of bad in the teens. It's not really all that much beer, it's the carbonation that catches up with you. And 60 seconds goes unbelievably quick when you don't want it to. :puke One of my friends did this last year, and he went right to bed after it pretty much. I'm still amazed. I can't even do a power hour. I have gotten to about 35-40, and quit. It's rough.
  4. I think since this thing has been done so many times, i doubt people would want to sponsor anyone. It's just not that original anymore. However, it is worth a shot. All you can be told is "no." But if you're going to do this trip, start writing out your entire budget...think of everything you'll spend money on (and tack on some money because you might get an oil leak that cost 30 or so bucks to repair while in maryland like i did), then start saving accordingly. I never went on spring break during high school or college (followed the illini around), so it was easy to afford. There's some tricks, too, like using public transportation to get to the actual stadium...park somewhere outside the city, etc. Or bring your own scorebook with you instead of buying one for five bucks at every park (if it only comes inside the program). Just think it through, it's not that hard to do. The hardest part will be laying out the schedule. And if you get rainouts...yikes.
  5. I loathe MTV. I was told to turn it on during Kelly Clarkson's train wreck performance, and that's all i saw.
  6. To go back to the vaseline thing - a friend and I did this to a buddy's windshield in high school just to be funny. It's hard to get off, until you figure out you need to use newspaper, i think that works best. Also, slightly deflating only the right or only the left tires on a car = fun times. We only did this kind of s*** between our good group of friends...doing random s*** to people is really lame. And for the record, i spackle my apartment holes. Toothpaste? LOL Edit - I had my car saran wrapped with different colors of it by some girls for my birthday, and it took me about 15 minutes to get it all off. I was late for hockey practice. Also fun times. And you can get a plastic putty knife for like 50 cents.
  7. Sweet i've never done this before, but: RIP EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Hope this doesn't start another attendance-esque thread. But honestly, people will start going when clinching gets close. At this point, i wouldn't be surprised if many people are saving for playoff tickets. Plus, we're playing lowly KC, and "meh" Detroit. On top of that, many people are back at college/can't go on high school nights.
  9. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Can it be a visor? /shocked /disappointed I agree with you Addy. However, i would like to be present when you eat your hat.
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) Yeah, what happened? And why do you guys care? Let's just say you missed out.
  11. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) Of course W/L isn't the end all be all when grading a manager, but you mentioned talent level, correct? What did people think of the White Sox talent coming into this season? Sure if we went into the season viewed as a talented juggernaut this wouldn't be as impressive on Ozzies part, but IIRC we were supposed to be very mediocre. Well undoubtedly a lot of the success this year has to do with Garland stepping up and the performance of the bullpen. Did Ozzie's managing really turn Garland into a cy young contender? Did he manage these bullpen arms to greatness? If anything, Cooper is more responsible for that. Or simply KW for acquiring those arms.
  12. Piniella must be a terrible manager, he's 22 games under .500!!!
  13. I went to 7 parks on the east coast in may of 2003 with 2 friends. We were on the road 9 days total and stayed at a hotel only 5 nights. We didn't have premium tickets, but we didn't have the cheapest ticket at every park either. We didn't stay at real expensive hotels. With gas prices obviously not as high as they are now, we each spent roughly $500. I'd say it will cost you more than $1500, easy

  15. For the record, YASNY, i never called YOU ignorant. I said that particular way of looking at things is ignorant, and i stand by it.
  16. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) you didn't shoot her too did you? How about using a claw hammer?* *Reference here....
  17. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) When it comes down to it, the is the only real measurement of a manager. Ignorant or not. Well you're entitled to your opinion.
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 06:07 AM) What determines a "good manager" if not the won/loss record? That's a pretty ignorant way of looking at things. To evaluate a manager solely on record is like saying every team in MLB has the exact same talent level. Come on, now. Also, Ozzie tied the game by himself yesterday. Then later got the win. You sure you want to evaluate him based on W/L record? He should receive an "L" for yesterday's effort, not a W. That's why it's not won/loss record.
  19. Dusty Baker - cheerleading = Ozzie I'm convinced.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) What was the problem leaving Duque in for Bloomquist? He was cruising, and hung a pitch. It happens. Maybe shouldn't have left him in for Ibanez, but I see no reason why he shouldn't pitch to Bloom... Shouldn't have even faced Ichiro.
  21. I'm sick of Ozzie's s***. This s*** will happen in the playoffs too. Well done.
