  1. ND = .74977 Michigan = .74557 Way ahead of ya, cwsox And notre dame stadium was built as an imitation of the big house, that's easy. I also know that you taught us how to play the game of football, which is what most UM fans give me crap for I want to get to the big house for a game, either vs my illini or vs ND. I hope to make it to a lot of the meccas of college football at some point. I was in the horseshoe during my baseball road trip, but i'd like to see a game there. Some other places i'd like to see a game: Rose Bowl, Nebraska, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, OU, LSU to name a few
  2. It was loud in the bleachers. Stay out of the upper deck, that is where all the quiet people like cwsox are. I hate the wave, but I doubt that it distracts or bothers the players. I am sure they are happy to be playing in front of crowds for a change instead of a small gathering of family and friends. Well, maybe i'll go bleachers some more games. I'm usually upper deck. However, the wave started in right field if i can remember correctly. Crowds don't necessarily have to be extremely loud, but i'd like to sit somewhere where the fans are into the game and are more knowledgeable than most (sit 300 level at Hawks games, huge difference than 100 level) I really don't care who is around me and what they know. I know the game and so does my friend Huge. We are loud and into the whole game, keeping score including pitch counts. What others do is their problem. There just aren't that many hard core baseball fans to fill 30,000 plus seats, some people just go to have fun, see fireworks, eat, etc. I have no problem with them as long as they are not standing and blocking my view during the game. This is why you see a difference when it is 15,000 as opposed to 30,000. The 15,000 that are out there when it is cold are the die hards that hang on every pitch. When you get 30,000, the good majority are people there for the entertainment more than the game itself. Relax and enjoy the game. Ya i see what you are saying. Usually i go with friends and we talk some good baseball and pay attention the game. I used to bring a little clicker thing to track pitch counts, but now they have it on the scoreboards on the baselines by the foul pole - i love that addition. Probly only matters to 5% of the people there, but for thos 5%, it is greatly appreciated. I don't mind those people unless they are a distraction from the game (people standing up and eating and ordering food in the middle of a bases loaded jam - happened during sox/cubs games too many times). And the wave is certainly a huge distraction from the game. And for 30,000 people last night, i'd say about 25,000 were participating in that wave. Boooo
  3. Oh no it didn't !! It started down the 1st base line about 115... 116. Well, i wasn't paying much attention to it seeing as i hate the wave. That is just where i noticed it first i guess....
  4. Whereas line drive outs aren't stupid plays, what Lee did last night sure is Huge difference. While there are ifs and baseball, you can't give away outs. Lee gave away an out. A line drive at an outfielder doesn't give away an out. You actually hit the ball well, did something positive, that turned into an out
  5. You don't just let things slide and cover them up when you win. So if we lost that'd be perfectly fine to bring up, but if we win we assume we had a perfect game? I don't buy it.
  6. Ya, i know. Hate to be "sooo negative", but winning clubs don't run the bases as poorly as we do. If martinez scores in the 9th and ties the game, then i guess it'd be perfectly fine to mention the Lee baserunning gaffe. There'd probly be a thread 50 posts long on it. I just can't let it go just because we won. Stupid baserunning is one of the things that upsets me the most about this team.
  7. Give Alomar a break on that play. He did the right thing by waiting to see if the ball was caught, there for not allowing him to score from 2nd. It was hard play to judge. If he didn't wait and took off at the 1st minute and the RF would have made the catch then you would be on here saying what a terrible mistake because he should have waited to see if he had made the catch. No no no, i meant the hit by the Indians that Maggs did a slide for that he didn't get to. I thought Alomar could have gotten there easily, but he pulled up and let Maggs run a mile for it The baserunning play by Alomar was the right play, no doubt.

  9. Sorry i looked around for something on that but didn't see it Anyway, ya a run in that 8th woulda been huge, and the baserunning move by Lee was just awful. It was just stupid because everyone in the ballpark could see it coming. I just kept thinking stop stop stop and then when he finally did, he was almost halfway to 2nd. Did he actually think he had a shot to get to 2nd? That ball was cutoff pretty easily.
  10. Federov is one of the best two way players in the game. He really plays a good defensive game, unlike Kariya. Kariya took plenty of nights off this year (not to mention a few in the playoffs) Federov will outscore Kariya, he plays defense, and he's a pretty damn clutch player
  11. Jose had the players doing the wave in the dugout Was that not a huge distraction though in a one run ballgame? The thing never stopped and it was full throttle. I mean, if you are going to do the wave, at least know when an appropriate time to do it is.
  12. He was throwin smoke yesterday, that's for sure Glad i drafted him in my farm system draft for my keeper league
  13. 4 pitch walk to start the 9th really worried me. I started to think that he may have become tired or something. He certainly can't have 2 inning saves all the time, but the only guy we can use late with him is Marte at this point (and i'd use White before Koch)
  14. As soon as he hit it, i was thinking two. Then as he got about half way to 1st it was apparent there was no way he'd get to 2nd....he'd get thrown out by about 50 feet. So he rounds the base and gets in a rundown and thrown out. Terrible baserunning, i was so pissed sitting in my seat. That could have been a huge baserunner. Instead, not only does he not run to 2nd and at least get thrown out there....he stops like 40 feet off of 1st and leaves himself completely dead. That, and what was with Alomar having no range on that hit that almost tied the game? Maggs had to run a long long way for that, and Alomar just stopped. He could have had that ball.
  15. In my opinion that crowd last night sucked for it being 30,000. Wasn't very loud at all until the last strike And that wave had the entire ballpark (minus me) going and it lasted almost 10 minutes. Usually waves happen in a 10-1 game. No no, it's a tight 4-3 game and i'm trying to concentrate on a Graff at bat and i have a circus around me. He walked, i cheered, no one notices. That's gotta piss the players off. The thing never ended and that was the only time they were "into the game." Disappointing for such a large number of people out there.
  16. I predict that i will be in attendance I also predict that the Sox will win 6-3 Porzio with a solid 6 innings of ball
  17. He better get the start tonight, that's all i have to say Maybe he'll start stealing some more time from Joe, who knows
  18. Good points big hurt. I have to concur
  19. Oh yeah and steff, that pool looks real nice. Might want to think about putting some water on the ground though....
  20. 1. Ivan Rodriguez excels at both. Even guys like Matheny can hit. Olivo has a good arm, but i think he's pretty poor at blocking balls in the dirt - there's definitely room for improvement. But i'll give him time. It would help if he swung at strikes and hit as many fastballs as possible 2. What impresses me about PK is even the foul balls he's hitting. He seems right on top of most pitches now. And i'll watch him yank one foul, well hit. Usually you'd think well there goes his one good hack, now he'll make an out. Nope. He just stays right on that pitch again and drills it for a hit this time. He seems to be seeing the ball a lot better, but only he could tell ya that.

  23. I'm not going to act like i know everything because ya TV has been my main info source for this stuff, as i'm sure it is for a lot of people That post shed a lot of light on how deep some of this stuff goes...interesting. Lots of things to consider in preparing a defense
