  1. I'm more afraid of the August schedule than the September schedule. If we tear up August, i think we'll be fine come September, and you'll be home free
  2. What rock aren't the Yankees looking under? And, around the trade deadline, most contending teams are after the same guys, the ones that are of quality and are available. Did Epstein expect to be like "oh wow we discovered this pitcher in the NL, Suppan, he's available, let's keep this on the DL" It's fine we didn't get Suppan. I was pretty much in favor of not making another move for a starting pitcher.
  3. Shouldn't it say "the f***ing alomar brothers??" It sounds, well, odd as it is right now
  4. There's almost no way Giles moves in a trade now, because you can't place a package of Kendall and Giles on waivers now. That was the only holdup with someone acquiring Giles - taking Kendall and his contract. That option really isn't there anymore
  5. I'll be there monday and tuesday for sure, and saturday's tailgate
  6. I was very encouraged to see the Twins basically sit pat (kielty for stewart is all i think) and not upgrade that weak starting pitching staff. I don't think they have the personnel to make a big run in these last 2 months, but who knows
  7. Also cwsox- Did you get my 2nd PM last week about college football? It was pretty long
  8. cwsox - Do you want to keep one continuous thread going, or start a new one for each week? On another note, i heard a report this morning that said of the stuff stolen from Clarett's car, there were 300 CD's. 300. OSU sure hooked him up with a lot of stuff in that car. It'll be hard to win the Heisman while suspended. OSU is doing the right thing from their perspective, because if they dont' suspend him now and this stuff comes out later, he may miss games during the season (assuming this all clears up soon)
  9. I can keep an update on the Illini and ND regularly ND has a brutal schedule this year, and they must get that offense clicking more than it was last year. The pass game has to pick up. With Julius Jones back to go along with Grant and Powers-Neal, the run game should be solid. Losing Battle will hurt the pass game, but Holiday hopefully has a better grasp of the offense at this point and can find the short routes and tight ends and such Love to talk college football with all you guys during the season Just got my Illini/Missouri tickets in the mail yesterday, i'm hyped to go already.
  10. Hell ya! Jon Buetjer will have that offense clicking Best QB in the Big Ten, bar none....yes including you Navarre
  11. Stuff can still go through...has anyone read where it's off the table yet?

I see. Ya, i've ran a confidence pool like that for 4 years Anybody up for doing a weekly picks thing? It's good to have the graphic done even though it's not til mid decemeber Now if only we were this good about getting school stuff done....

So we do the picks for all the college bowls, or do we run a weekly in season one? Otherwise i'm just wondering why the graphic is up now when the bowls don't start til mid december
  14. Oh Jason.. you have no idea how funny what you wrote is.... "We" said the same exact thing. I'd be at all 7 games!! If things go well for the Sox I'm gonna buy plane tickets via Southwest for the date of the series and will spend some of the money I've made this summer working like 50 hours a week. Oh man...you tell Sidney if he joins the Sox he'll have you and me head up the Ponson Fan Club Money couldn't be spent better
  15. If Damian Moss ever figures out how throw the ball over the plate, watchout. Isn't his WHIP almost 1.7? He has major control problems at this point I have to be suspect of a pitcher that the Braves organization would trade away, but that's just me
  16. Jayson Stark said that the Giants don't think they'll resign him after this year, so I think we should go after him next year. And, yes, the Giants would have definitely given up Williams, Foppert, and Ainsworth to get Colon. Highly doubt that
  17. Yeah, $20 bill man will be real mad when the Spanks get Boone, and he'll be saying how it got blocked with the A's tried to sell players in the 70's....I've never seen him get as riled as he did last night when discussing the potential Boone-to-Yankees deal. Oh yeah, he was pretty PO'd, i was laughing pretty hard watchin Gammons get worked up
  18. Oh, i now i see what you are trying to say. I think deals will happen right around the deadline. Look for a flurry
  19. Oh, they'll have deals the instant they happen. gammons has Gm's numbers on speed dial and stuff
  20. I have to leave work for a dentist appt, but i think i'll tune into some of it before i head back. Should be good stuff Watch for Gammons to get real upset when the Yanks acquire some more stars and buy Boone
  21. Wasn't his first start this year off the DL in seattle?
  22. He's definitely fading, but i just think it would cost the Cubs some money and some decent prospects, but nothing real special. That's just a guess, i haven't heard anything regarding what Texas wants in return. I bet the Cubs wish they had held out on Ramirez now that they could have Boone for money now basically. And, they have better prospects to offer than Brandon Claussen.
