It's all because he's trying to pull pitches that are on the outer half of the plate. He never used to do this, always a good oppo hitter. What happened? Ward Any questions? Nothing will change until he's gone.

I don't think jimenez is our biggest problem right now. He'll catch the next 100 of those. s*** happens, it just happened at the very worst time it could have happened. He's hitting the s*** out of the ball for the most part, i'll leave him be. You can only expect so much out of the guy; don't get on his case because he isn't Ray Durham. He's D'angelo Jimenez, and i expect him to live up to DJ expectations, not Durham's There are many more bigger problems with this team. Jimenez would be one of the last i'd attempt to fix.

Everyday I think we have reached all time lows....

Should have been a 2-0 game but we can't play defense. However 2-0 doesn't show how much our hitting sucked in this game, so 6-0 is just fine by me to reflect how this game actually went. We had like 2 chances to score in this game, that's about it. -
The hitting approach of this team sucks. As an 11 year old i learned that you had to hit the ball to the opposite field. It may not have made sense at the time, but it sure got results. You cannot smoke a ball to left field if it is outer half, is this not obvious? Ward's approach is absolute horse s***. There's no reason this team shouldn't be just hammering the ball ALL OVER the field, not just left. This team has talent. When talent doesn't equal results, look to the coaching. I'm really sick of this. Thomas pulls an outside pitch, groundout. Like Jason said, Maggs had a good approach and drove a ball. Granted it should have been caught (what the hell was with byrnes glove), but you will get many hits that way. This is really frustrating. And i'm sick of Hawk and DJ talking about how they are "pressing" and all this "pressure" nonsense. That's a load of crap, it's all mental!!!!! It doesn't matter how relaxed you are at the plate, if your approach sucks, your at bats will follow.

good point no idea

Worst time of the year just as it's the worst time of the semester. Finals are the worst time of year, and the ones in the spring are worse than the ones in the fall...at least for me, because summer is so close and most of them are cumulative this semester as opposed to last semester they were composed of stuff after the midterm.

Ya it should be fun, it's me and 2 good buddies...i'll post some stuff about what i thought of the parks, the cities, and the overall experience of the roadtrip when i get back. Until then, i'm up to my neck with school stuff...can't even see the light at the end of the tunnel yet.

Ya, only 4 finals, 1 paper, and endless amounts of hours studying til i'm there..... :fyou
-
Fair enough, chisoxfn...we all know school comes first (as i sit here and attempt to study, er waste time, until the sox games starts in 2 hours)
-
Like i said, a baseball perspective not a Sox perspective...i didn't know baseball fans on this board could only relate things to the White Sox
-
I agree with this...i can never find it unless Heather gives me a link

Finals week starts Friday...worst time of year by far
-
I'm not looking at it from a Sox perspective. I'm looking at it from a baseball perspective.

Am I the only one who finds it ironic that...

I would say just a coincidence, it's be pretty weird if that's why he's getting axed in Oakland. -
Ah, the joys of not being able to study and write papers...i'm there with you.
-
Jason Giambi batting .195. If he gets voted to start, this is why the voting has to be taken away from the fans, ESPECIALLY with the new winner-take-homefield look to it.
-
Right there with you. It'll take some time but i wanna see how he can manage with no puppet strings from above.

Good call. Small ball provides a way to win when you just aren't seein the ball well. If you bank on homers it's kind of like the saying "you live by the sword you die by the sword." Small ball is almost a foolproof way to win some ball games; it doesn't require hitting the s*** out of the ball to win. It's using the mental aspect of baseball and not just the physical aspect.

The exact reason the one man per team rule has to be abolished in every sport. I don't watch the allstar game just to watch the white sox players. If there we none in the game i'd still watch just the same.
-
If they continue to get beat by Milwaukee that won't matter

I heard that chick from thr promo dept on the telecast the other day saying you could play catch. Ya i believe you can this year because there is no game the next day like there was last year, so they dont' have to take care of the field. If i went i'd throw a simulated game in one of the bullpens.

I would have to imagine we would by now, but i have no idea. If we don't, we sure as hell should

Next post is 3,000 for cwsox...congrats

I've been thinking about that a lot about Ward... I think it is time for him to go, with KW with him, and let JM have a batting coach whose philosophy is the same as his - get everyone on the same page - too many conflicting philosophies (and too many head chefs) mess up the mix every time. Lert it be JM's team and let's see what he can do without interference - I have to totally agree with you here. I think that without interference, JM can make a winner out of this team. I admit, my thinking has changed on this. That thread HSC started about KW's ultimate demise convinced me. I don't know how confident i am that JM can turn this team into a winner, but i'd like to give him the chance before we get rid of both KW and JM...if KW really is the problem, this soon-to-be move should take care of JM's problems
