P.S. WiteSoxfan, if you don't mind I am going to join your league
-
I am a White Sox fan--have been since birth always will be, but I follow baseball. I suscribe to Baseball weekly (now sportsweekly covering baseball and football), and I always read up on how other teams, league prospects, and stuff like that are shaping up. If you notice there are always threads about other events in baseball not involving the Sox, for example Roger Clemens. I am in favor of the proposed new board, and if more than 1 moderator was necessary, then I would help mod. it. (though I do not know exactly what moderators do)

I am not saying Borchard is better than Daubach. I am saying play Borchard because he is where our future has to be. If he can't turn things around, oh well he is an expensive bust. But he definately should be playing. Daubach is at best a .270 25 75 guy. There is no sense playing a guy with no future in the orginization at this point. Imagine if the Sox had decided Ventura wasn't worth playing in 1990 when he sucked, and instead they decided to use Carlos Martinez, then when would Ventura have developed. Its the same principle with Daubach and Borchard

The Sox are not building a dynasty right now, even if they started turning things around...the dynasty teams like the yankees of the last 7 years could piss on the Sox. The Sox hopefully have enough pieces for the playoffs, and now that looks near impossible. If you are looking for a dynasty, you better find a new hat. Unfortunately, that is the fate we were given when we were born, or chose to be, Sox fans.

The Mariners one 117 games doing it, we won 95 games doing it. If you have a good player, DH'ing him all the time doesn't matter. It was when Edgar and Frank weren't producing last year that it looked bad
-
I agree and disagree...Thomas is past his prime, even if he can still produce, this team is going a different direction and should part ways with Frank. Valentin is not a solid major leaguer, though I do agree with your analysis of him, he really does suck. He was a solid major league power switch hitter, now he is just another underachiever. Lots of points here, first trading Lee. No way it is possible to get a SS for Lee, there just aren't enough good ss's in the orginizations that could use Lee (such as the O's). So I say get Ponson maybe we could squeeze in a minor leaguer for Lee. Trading Konerko- completely agree, and we could get plenty more than you think. We just need to play Konerko the rest of the season, then trade him to Colorado for Aaron Cook and Juan Uribe. Colorado will be desperately looking for a firstbaseman (helton is a FA) and Cook will fit perfectly in a revamped Sox rotation. Daubach- let him walk or keep him on the bench next year, Borchard is the future, play him.

hmm...I thought he was lefty, but you would know better. I didn't think Philly would trade him. No way Philly would trade Rollins in the heat of the pennant race. Personally, I am in favor of trading Buehrle, Colon, Loiaza, Magglio, and Lee. The guys we can get something for. I want a new clean slate But I don't think that is wise, attendance would drop even further if there was another Reinsdorf rebuilding. If a new owner came in and rebuilt, I think that would go over much better.

Does anybody here think Philadelphia would give us Joe Roa, and Gavin Floyd for Loiaza. Roa is pretty old, but he puts up nice strikeout numbers before they sent him down at the end of May, and I think he could thrive in a bullpen role in the majors. Gavin Floyd is one of the better lefthanded pitching prospects, obviously he would be great to have in the orginization. I don't think Philadelphia would pull the trigger on this one, but if they stay in contention I am sure they would be tempted to. Any thoughts

I know Baltimore experimented a little with him as a starter. Personally I like the switch, he was not getting it done as a reliever, and this seems to work.

just glad to have a victory

considered it, but my friends backed out b/c of inclement weather, so i said screw it

Ryno's wife was a slut...was she even that great looking? I can't remember
-
I am positive it was Martinez that collided with lyle, it was on mothers day against the A's

How could you not have been a Robin Ventura fan, he was my favirote, not including black jack and the big hurt. Ventura, in my mind, is symbolic of that era. He was really good, but I thought he would be better. Same with the Sox of the early 90's.
-
I too heard serious condition, no other word. Prayers go out to him and his family
-
I just noticed that Dave Martinez is still around. He was one of my favirote players of the later 90's. He has had a decent career. 3 Martinez moments stand out in my mind. 1) Dave Martinez and Ryne Sandberg's wife had that 'fling' that resulted in Martinez being traded away from the cubs. 2) Dave Martinez took out Frank Thomas when the big hurt tried to fight Robin Ventura...Martinez taught the Frank that size cant get you past a blackbelt. 3) Dave Martinez and Lyle Mouton collide chasing for a fly ball. I was at the game, I think both went on the DL for at least a month.

Albert Belle I remember when the Bulls tried to bring in Eddie Jones and Tracy McGrady, and they toured chicago and threw out first pitches, then both left for Florida. My pre-preseason superbowl picks: AFC: Bills NFC: Falcons

Say what you want, but Evans is a good GM. I loved the Sheffield deal with the braves. I wish the Sox had Odalis Perez. I would take Evans over KW in a New York Minute
-
What did I tell you about the Spurs and Point Guards, J. Kidd is the f***in' man. And his wife is hot as hell, as the world got to see tonight. No really though, could the ending have had any more drama...how does Jackson get open on that play? So we are all tied up at 1 and I couldn't be happier. Go Nets

Actually I think he started off well, I can remember that he had like 6 RBI's in the first game of the season.

When I was younger I used to be obsessed with the Titanic, then I saw the movie and stopped reading into it. The avatar actually looks like the cover of the book "A Night to Remember" written by some author with the last name 'Lord'. Good book, I enjoyed it.
-
Anybody else seen this show? I think it is setup well, and the commentary is damn funny. I wish I were old enough to remember more of the 80's. Most of the 80's stuff I remember because it carried into the 90's or became classic. My profile of the best stuff from the 80's, even though I only was not around for some of it. Movie: Scarface Album: ACDC, Back in Black TV show: Cheers World Series: 1986 Mets vs. Red Sox Car: DeLorian
