Actually now that I think about it, Everybody Loves Raymond and Still Standing are funny on CBS, and I like Life According to Jim on ABC, both have good college sports coverage too...and both have the NFL
-
Why avoid ABC, CBS? Actually now that I think about it, I don't watch much of them either, there tv shows are not very good.
-
Apu, this doesn't have much to do with that military article you posted, but I was looking at your avatar and was wondering if you eat at McDonalds, wear Nikes, watch ABC and CBS...or do you avoid those companies because they are 'corporate America' at it's largest

By the way Soxheads, did you ever go to a sportscamp in Iowa called Lorus Sports Camp, at Lorus college...right by the Illinois border

Ok we can all agree that The Simpsons is one of the greatest shows ever, proof: I pride myself on being a cheap bastard, yet I have no trouble overpaying for the Season 1, and 2 DVD collections. Now the Question is what is the greatest episode ever. My Top 5 are (drumroll please) 5)Bart's Comet (A Simple Classic) 4)Sideshow Bob Roberts (Sideshow Bob runs for Mayor) 3)Stone Cutters (Homer pulling the rock is a classic moment) 2)Flaming Moes (A classic episode of envy) 1)Monorail ("Monorail...Monorail...Monorail, I know lets buy a monorail!"...only springfield) to The Simpsons

No, I am not s***tin you. You can't just say a team that won 103 games is going to bow out. Lets say the series was the same through 4 games, 3-1. Ok, well a team with a lineup of Soriano, Jeter, Bernie, Giambi, Posada, Ventura, White, Mondesi, Johson is capable of coming back and winning 3 in a row. The '01 Yankees with primarily the same pitching as the '02 yanks came back from down 0-2 to beat the A's...and that was without, Giambi, Ventura, White, Mondesi, Johnson. The A's were a better baseball team that had outplayed the Yankees the sameway the Angels had, yet because the Yankees are the superior team they are easily capable of a comeback. Especially in a 7 game series that would have returned to the Bronx with a win in game 5. You gotta be s***tin me to say that there is no way the Yankees could have comeback, not too mention that the Yankees were facing Appier, Ortiz, and Washburn, Washburn is the only stud among those guys, Ortiz proved unworthy in Game 2. The Yankees actually should have won game 2. Game 4 in that series was the only game you could say...damn the Angels really outplayed the Yankees. As for the twinkies, yes they deserved to go as much as their ALCS opponent, the Angels deserved to be there. The Twins were as impressive in the ALDS as the Angels. Why do you want to see the teams that deserve to be there anyways, thats like saying that you want all the high seeds to win in the NCAA tourney

Where in Florida? As for the Sox, over the time you were gone: could have been better, could have been worse

Primitive, but it is my first one...just a trial

That would be really stupid to force a team to use all of it's pitchers, it is fine in that sence the way it is. You throw out your aces, and go as far as they take you...it was beautiful in 2001 watching Johnson and Schilling single handedly win the World Series. I would love to see that happen, but as Kochthis explained, it just wouldn't be a good plan for baseball...too many teams would be out of the races by late summer. Plus one could argue that whoever gets placed in the East is instantly screwed because of the Yankees, as for the West, exciting baseball...White Sox, A's, Twins, Mariners, Angels all in the same division. No, upsets are great, one could argue that the Yankees could have beaten the angels in a 7 game series last year, afterall they had won three in a row vs. the A's in 2001. As for the twins and the A's, the Twins had to face Zito, Mulder, Hudson in the ALDS. If the series was 7 games, they still would have faced Zito Mulder Hudson, so if they won in a 5, who is to say they would not have beaten them in a 7

An early 5 game series adds more excitement, meaning and thrill to each of those 5 games...it also increases the chances of an upset. That is why I prefer the 5 game series

This year the East is a joke...but the playoffs should be good until the finals where the west will dominate. I don't like this years seven game first round format...I love the 5 game series. If baseball switches to 7 for the DS I will be pissed. Now the matchups, and predictions East:(1)Detroit vs. (8)Orlando another disappointing season for Orlando, Detroit in 5. (2)New Jersey vs. (7)Milwaukee I love the Glove, but I have to root for my state's team. Nets in 6. (3)Indiana vs. (6)Boston Indiana is good, but I hate 'em. Boston in 7. (4)Philadelphia vs. (5)New Orleans Iverson and KVH are too much for the Hornets. 76ers in 5. West:(1)Spurs vs. (8)Suns Duncan and Parker are great, Spurs in 4. (2)Kings vs. (7)Jazz CWebb is dominating force in this series. Kings in 5. (3)Dallas vs. (6)Portland Portland has a lot to prove, Dallas is great, I predict an upset. Portland in 6. (4)T'Wolves vs. (5)Lakers KG and Hudson have a lot to prove, Phil Jackson doesn't lose in the playoffs. T'Wolves in 7. There are my picks...I will save you of the bore of reading my picks for the next rounds and just say, Kings over 76ers in 4 in the finals.

The difference maker in the Royals rotation is Asensio...Hernandez is going to be a good pitcher, Affeldt should be pretty good, but Asensio is a wild-card. Could be great, or if he cant control the ball (like his debut vs the sox last year, 16pitches 16balls) then he will be nothing. If he turns out to be good though, the Royals could be trouble in the future, when they get some young talent that hits

27,000 is a pitiful number for the cubs, because that is probably about the number of season tix holders they have compared to the Sox 10,000 or so season tix holders. So if the cubs have 27000 that means they had no walk up sales, unusual for them...yet its a catch-22. As much as I hate the cubs, I look at the boxscores and attendance is terrible, and when it is reflected at Wrigley that means baseball is having a rough spring

I am a little worried, mostly because their pitchers aren't flukes...they have real talent in their arms. Yet, the depth isn't their, and they don't have the luxury of making blockbuster deals. When the White Sox broke out in 2000 they obviously had a lineup that could smack around any pitcher, and the twins when they broke out had a superb bullpen solid starters and some pop in their bats. The royals though, a couple starters that really have a chance to be good, 1 or 2 pitchers that could be decent out of the pen and 2 or 3 solid hitters...not enough to contend through July
-
No, they would not find a neutral site, or play at KC. If they decided not to play the MLB would back their decision...then probably send somebody to see what the Sox are doing to beef up security, then if they are satisfied they would tell the Royals to play again, and any games missed during the process would be made up at the Cell later.
-
My bet is that the league would back the Royals decision and the game would not be called a forfeit
-
The Sox need somebody to act as an enforcer on the team...When that fan ran on the field at Soldier Field, Mike Ditka came out of the huddle and gave the guy a clothesline that knocked him out...Carlton Fisk leveled a fan when crossing homeplate after his famous Game 6 homerun...Reggie Jackson pushed a fan to the ground on his way into the dugout after his famous world series homerun. If somebody had done that to the first guy last night, the other 3 would not have run on the field Frankly, I too am embarrassed about what happened, say what you want about Randa being a pussy, but at school today here in New Jersey I heard from students, and 2 teachers, about how we Chicago-ans are stupid drunks that cant control ourselves. The Baseball tonight crew said Sox fans have put a black eye on chicago baseball. This whole situation is just a shame

I think Rodney King is pretty cool...he got arrested became famous for it...created a good quote, what else could you ask for in life. It's unfortunate that fame couldn't change his bad habits. I think we are going to see his name in the future...he will pop up again, in a Kato Kalen type role. I am not sure I spelled Kato Kalen right, but I think you know what I meant

I picked 50 cent because I like rap music, I would have liked to see more rappers on this list, possibly Nas or JayZ or hell even Snoop Dogg

I was 20%: Way to straight for these modern times, I started getting nervous when that first meter popped up and went to 100% I was relieved when it said that meter was for "are you gayer than your pet".

Read Dr. Evils presentation to that therapy class he goes to in the first Austin Powers. That was funny s***. "I had a typical childhood really, in the summer we made meatheads, and when I misbehaved I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with sticks" I know there is a lot more to it than that, but it was funny s***. A great monolouge for a public speaking class

LMFAO, God bless the youth of America, if we aren't smart, we sure are entertaining

Deion, will be one of those upset athletes. Signs is a great movie that just came out on video that deals with religion, I am sure some of you already saw it in the theaters. I loved it, it dealt with religion, and was scary to watch(when its over though it isn't scary, so you feel like a fool for getting scared watching it). At one of the scariest parts, in a miniclimax when the music is speeding up and I was about to jump out of my seat, some guy in the audience yelled out 'hell, No!' that made it funny instead of exilerating. I recommend watching it

You spelled his name right...I didn't see it, but if it was after 2 pitches, I would guess spitball, illegal hands to the mouth, or something like that
