  1. I can say that the liberal bias also exists in high school classrooms. My spanish teacher rails on Bush constantly, calling him the devil, an animal killer, a bigot, basically anything she can think of off the top of her head. On one occasion my teacher gave us all copies of a newspaper article about the Presidents environmental policy and told us to read it for homework (and this is a spanish class). The article described a new policy that would allow poachers to kill a small number of endangered animals, and the large profits would be used to shelter other members of that species. The next day a girl in my class told my teacher that she hopes bush is assasinated...my teacher laughed. I was utterly disgusted. My English teacher is a bra-burning, liberal, Fem-Nazi. She graduated college as the Vietnam war started, and she often tells us how she graduated from a women's only college next to West Point, and her classmates lost husbands because of Political fat-cats. My teacher also keeps a pin on her bag that has a picture of Bush with an 'X' over it. Once, our class had to write a comparison of a quote from John Gardner's Grendel and the war in Iraq. (the quote was about legality and abuse of power). I am a moderate leaning conservative. Nothing turns me off more than teachers who use their power to push a political agenda on the minds of kids. My Holocaust Studies teacher is conservative, but if I criticize the ACLU she will defend it, if a liberal student rips Bush she will defend him. I respect her a lot more than I respect the two other teachers I previously mentioned.

    Mel Gibson

My only question is: If God knows everything we are going to do, than why are we here?

    Mel Gibson

NEW YORK — Days before the release of Mel Gibson's (search) film about the death of Jesus, which some critics say could fuel anti-Semitism, his father has told an interviewer that the Holocaust was mostly "fiction." Steve Feuerstein (search) — host of "Speak Your Piece!" — said he interviewed Hutton Gibson for a segment of his show to be broadcast Monday by the small Talkline Communications Network. According to a transcript released by the network, Hutton Gibson (search) said, "It's all — maybe not all fiction — but most of it is," when asked about his views on the Holocaust. He added: "They claimed that there were 6.2 million (Jews) in Poland before the war and after the war there were 200,000, therefore he (Hitler) must have killed 6 million of them. They simply got up and left. They were all over the Bronx and Brooklyn and Sydney and Los Angeles." The interview comes at a sensitive time for Mel Gibson, whose epic "The Passion of the Christ" (search) is due to open Wednesday. Some Jewish leaders say the movie could fuel anti-Semitism for its portrayal of Jews' role in the crucifixion, while conservative Christians have praised it as a moving depiction of Christ's death. Gibson, who produced, directed and co-wrote the film, has said repeatedly that he is not anti-Semitic and that the project was a deeply personal expression of his own faith. Hutton Gibson has an unpublished phone number at his home outside Houston and could not be reached for comment. Alan Nierob, a spokesman for Mel Gibson, declined to comment on the interview. Hutton Gibson follows a tiny wing of traditionalist Catholicism that views the modernizing reforms of the Second Vatican Council (search) as a conspiracy between Jews and Masons to take over the church. The elder Gibson has stirred controversy in previous interviews with remarks on the Holocaust and Judaism, but had kept quiet in the months leading up to the release of "The Passion." In this latest interview, Gibson said Jews want to take over the world. He did not know why Jews would want to achieve that, but said "it's all about control. They're after one world religion and one world government." Asked in media interviews whether he shares his father's views, Mel Gibson has said that he loves his father and will not speak against him. Zev Brenner, owner of Talkline, which he calls a Jewish network, has been calling for a boycott of all of Mel Gibson's movies. -------------------------------------------------------- Its very unfortunate that people will not recognize and pay their respects to one of the worlds greatest tragedies. I do not believe Mel Gibson is an anti-semite, but this will not help his reputation.

I think you missed the point. The point is not just that Osama can go through, but that there are enough loopholes in the system that terrorists can get on airplanes. Obviously anyone with the name Osama Bin Laden would be questioned, but what about a terrorist with a name not familiar to the general public? If that computer doesn't pick him up, he is on the plane.
  8. Michigan knocked off Penn State, their hopes are slim but they still have a chance. (14-8; 5-6) DePaul is on fire! They have won their last five and are tied for second place in C-USA. (15-7; 8-3) At least I know my teams are all but locks for the NIT, and both have a shot at the NCAA tourney.
  9. Actually, this story came out last year, but the Yankees did not change his age in their media guides. But the Yankees have been aware of this since it was uncovered last offseason. Speaking of boosting your age, remember Danny Almonte

  11. Flores is still there, and the Jaspers have a solid record, but they don't seem as tough this year. They will still probably make the tourney though.

Beavis: I want to become a Republican, that would Rule! Butthead: Except, I think its like once you're a Republican, you don't score any more. Beavis: Oh, then I'll just keep being a Mexican.

    Best Cartoon Comedy

Choosing between South Park, The Simpsons, and Family Guy is like trying to decide which member of your family you love the most...its impossible. After thinking, I chose the Simpsons, for its endurance, and because pretty much anyone can watch it and find it funny. The other two are more for teenagers and adults. I was watching beavis and butthead on MTV2 last night, and I had forgotten how funny it was. I always thought that was one hell of a show.
  16. btw, did any directv customers watching the SIU vs. Creighton game see that African religious show interrupt the game for about 1 minute? It cut in during the middle of a play. there were trumpets playing, it showed a bunch of african people in a large gathering, then it showed this guy with a thick african accent in a studio, and another guy translating the words into a language I have never heard before. After that the screen went black for about 10 seconds then it went back to the game. It was really weird.
  17. I am not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but Winn wouldn't necessarily play centerfield. Winn doesn't have that kind of arm. I wouldn't be surprised if Winn went to right and someone else (Reed, Rowand, Borchard, Harris, whoever wins that struggle) plays center.

    Jersey Framing

I just got my signed Jordan jersey framed by a local framer. He did a real nice job with it. I think framed jerseys look great on the wall, and make a good conversation piece.
  19. I watched that game and as soon as it was over I switched over to ABC just in time to hear Dick Vitale have an orgasm at the end of the stanford game. Two great games. I saw on the bottom line that DePaul won too, that is a big win for the Blue Demons
  20. I forgot to mention one of today's best games- Southern Illinois (17-2;11-0) vs. Creighton (17-2;9-2) 3pm on ESPN2
  21. Stanford (19-0;10-0) vs. Arizona (14-5;6-4) should be exciting. Seton Hall (14-5;4-3) vs. Rutgers (12-6;5-4) is a big game for two bubble teams. Michigan (12-6;3-4) vs. Purdue (15-6;5-3) has some major big ten implications. DePaul (12-7;5-3) vs. Marquette (13-6;4-4) is a big conference USA game, and features the battle of the Deiner brother. Should be an exciting day.

    Food Thread!

My fault, I have been away for too long...I am getting my parks confused now. At least I didn't say Forest Park. My dad and I also had ribs flown in from Carsons for our super bowl party. The New Jersians loved them, NJ doesn't have ribs that measure up to Carsons.
