QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) Two movies i have never seen before that I watched this weekend just by flipping through my cable package: The Laughing Policeman (1973) Walter Mathau, Bruce Dern, and Louis Gossett Jr were in this movie, about a few cops chasing after a mass murderer. I expected some form of comedy, but this was anything but. Lots of racism brought up as Dern's character is a complete dipstick and pisses everyone off repeatedly, and Mathau doesnt really say much to him. I am indifferent to this movie, it was kind of strange. The Jacket (2007) Adrien Brody, Kiera Knightley, Kris Kristoferson and Jennifer Jason Leigh star in this movie, and I was really impressed with Brody. He plays a Gulf war vet in 1992 who gets caught in the wrong place at the wrong time and gets blamed for something pretty awful, which gets him put in a mental hospital run by Kristoferson and where Leigh works. The way to cure people like Brody is to pump them full of drugss, put them in a straight jacket, and slide them in a morgue drawer for a night. this treatment causes Brody to be transported into 2007 where he finds out that he is dead, and dies in 1993, so he wants to find out how. I loved this movie, I really did. Brody was very impressive, I really felt for his character I enjoyed The Jacket, also. It was one of those movies I had never heard of and watched it because nothing was on one night. Its pretty messed up. Talk about getting no publicity. That must have been out before 2007 though. I think I saw it on TV in 06.

Every year they say they want to trade him. Now that the Yankees have been heating up they arent going to trade him. Even if they wanted to theres no team thats gonna take on his contract and give up what the Red Sox would want for him. This isnt a white flag trade, they plan on being in the play offs and arent gonna trade him for garbage.

Thats a good way to start off the game.

Put down the controller. As lostfan said, you dont trade a guy like that unless it is so one sided that people are laughing about it. This team has been searching for a player who can change the game offensively (points wise) for years, you dont trade him for a draft pick of a guy who MIGHT pan out. They need to fix the rest of the offense and let the field position he gets generate points.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 02:14 PM) You can order some frozen ones online. It's obviously not as good as the real stuff but it definitely works. I normally do it for my brother for his birthday. He says its not as good as here but still much better than what they got in Cali.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 02:15 PM) Well from the crime that there was in some parts in the city in the 90s to what it is there I think it's a pretty good statement. Respectable was in quotations because not being respectable is usually the reputation that Aurora gets. I just did a job in Aurora last December and I didnt think it was bad at all, I just dont see anything that makes it stand out enough to be on the list. -
I hadnt heard of it but Im trying it now and it seems pretty cool.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 10:58 AM) The irony... There's probably oil right underneath them. Exactly, I wont sympathize with those eskimos. If they want oil they can siphon it out of their yards.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 02:44 PM) Yeah I get confused with this one. What do non-Chicagoans say? And really, is combining a bunch of words together just a Chicago thing? I thought everyone in every language has a tendency to not put many spaces in when they talk, because people understand it. Also, don't forget Cut the Grass vs. Mow the Lawn. I have noticed that when I go out of town I will have people ask me if Im from Chicago or Boston which is weird because I dont think the accents are wicked similar.

Suge Knight Marion Knight was born in Compton, a Suburb of Los Angeles. As a youth, he was associated with the Mob Piru Bloods street gang because he lived in a gang-dominated neighborhood. Though he was not a true member, Knight was frequently seen wearing their colors. His name Suge (pronounced /ʃʊɡ/) derives from "Sugar Bear", a childhood nickname.[1] He remained an excellent student and athlete, so much so that he won a football scholarship to University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he played collegiate football for several years. After school, he played professionally for the Los Angeles Rams for a short time, but couldn't quite make the grade. Instead, he found work as a concert promoter and a bodyguard for celebrities including Bobby Brown. Knight's legal problems began in 1987 when he faced auto theft, concealed weapon and attempted murder charges, ultimately receiving probation. Two years later, he formed his own music-publishing company, and allegedly made his first big fortune in the business by coercing Vanilla Ice into signing over royalties from his smash hit "Ice Ice Baby" owing to material that he supposedly sampled from one of Knight's company associates. (The possibly apocryphal story holds that Knight held Ice by his ankles off of a 20th-floor balcony, though in Ice's version, the threat was more implied.) Knight next formed an artist management company and signed prominent West Coast figures The D.O.C. and DJ Quik. Through the former, he met several members of the seminal gangsta rap group N.W.A.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 01:44 AM) They're actually starting to do a lot to make the city "respectable." Not sure why i'm defending a city I can't wait to move out of next month. Well when someone who lives in the city says its starting to become respectable it makes you think maybe it shouldnt be on the best places to live in the country list. -
I think for the most part that thing that people recognize as a Chicago accent is the long "a" like Chicaaaaaaaaaaaago

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 04:15 PM) This year's line still has some gapping holes even if Chris Williams can step it up from the first game. Add to that what looks like a bad WR, bad QB (but which bad QB will get the job?!), and very questionable running game, and you're left with a pretty bad offense still. Adding Williams and moving Tait to the right immediately upgrades our tackles immensely. The guards are still a question mark but we might not be done making moves yet and St. Clair showed some promise at the end of the year. Losing Berrian hurts but not as much as people think. He isnt even close to being a legit number one WR. Moose was garbage for us last year and his drops had gotten so bad its no wonder our offense could never convert on third downs. The WR corps will be interesting but I think Hester can be comporable to what Berrian did stretching the field wise and Booker is comparable to Moose with better hands. Lloyd is a question mark but from what weve heard he looks really good. (Yes I know they say that about everyone every year) I think Bennett will turn a lot of heads and will be exactly the type of WR we have needed for a few years. We know what we have in Davis for the most part and I think Bradley has underachieved and still has the potential to be a good number 2 caliber wide out. The running game will be interesting but one thing I like is that with the guys we have I dont think we will have to worry about any of them not giving all their effort. If Jones can stay healthy he was the steal of the off season and will be the perfect compliment to Fortes style of running. AP can revert to his 3rd string role and special teams ace and Wolfe can audition to play the elf in Bad Santa 2. The defense is going to be as dominant as ever for however long they can remain healthy, whether it be one week or 20 weeks. I think losing Ayanbadejo sp? will hurt more than most people do but as a whole, from the return game, to punting team to field goal unit our special teams is by far the best in the business. When our defense was healthy in 05 they were winning with absolutely no offense, except clock eating running plays with no scoring and less of a special team unit. If the O line cant give Grossman time to utilize his strengths like going down field than we saw what Orton did in 05 so he can manage the games and try to let our defense win games for us. We will also have amazing field position all year because teams are definitely not going to kick to Hester with not much of an offensive threat, so if we can not turn the ball over on in their territory and keep their offense pinned for our defense to tee off on they can have success. Another thing I like is that they will be flying under the radar. There arent going to be many people picking them to finish higher than third in the division so they wont have the bullseye on their back like they did last year. If they go back to running the ball and playing defense and minimizing mistakes they will shock a lot of people. The two "top" teams in our division are severely overrated IMO. Minnesota wont do anything with Jackson. The secrets out on AP, teams have had a whole year and an off season to scheme about shutting him down and cutting off his cutback lanes which is how he torched so many teams. Assuming Favre doesnt play Ryan Grant will become an average back at best. Teams couldnt stack the box with Favre at QB so he had a lot of lanes. I know they have a good line and solid defense but their offensive skill players are nothing special with Rodgers, Grant and Driver and Jennings. -

Most overrated NFL player

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 01:00 AM) I don't see how Michael Vick is overrated...whenever he was hurt, the Falcons sucked, and whenever he played, the Falcons were a pretty damn good team. He was a terrible passer and pure QB, but he was a damn good player. He had one good season early on and that was before defenses knew how to scheme him. They werent terrible his last few years there. They managed to stay around 500 most years but that was also when Tampa and New Orleans were going through some rough times. His accuracy is worse than any QB in NFL history. He makes poor decisions, he gets flustered and he exhausts his whole offense with his style of play.
