  1. So since we are going to be trotting out a jv rotation next year, why don't we just move the team to Montreal to make the White Sox a complete bush league team.
  2. The Cubs are going to be awful defensively. Aside from Z, their pitching is God-awful. But they do have some good hitters.
  3. While I would consider Cardinal fans our ally in the war against the Cubs, Cards fans certainly have us Sox fans beat in creating parodies like this. Props to the Cards fans for making Cubs look bad for so long.
  4. I had to press pauses to catch my breath after laughing so hard. I have not laughed that hard in a long time.
  5. Apparently we were not willing to spend the big bucks to get the ageless Sandy Alomar Jr.
  6. I could take trading Freddy. but this pisses me off to a high degree. I hope Ross finally gets a chance to play in KC.
  7. IMO, Peter was the star of Everybody Loves Raymond. His character's take on married life ... well, what's funny usually is not far from reality.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 05:34 PM) If im the cubs, im signing Giles right now. He had a somewhat down season last year, but is still younger and capable of producing at a high level. Just speculating, but there may be some bad blood between Giles and the Cubs after Giles ended "Glass Joe"/Mark Prior's season a few years back.
  9. Slightly off topic, I think this trade may clinch 2nd or 3rd place for the Cubs. Stros have better pitching than the Cubs now. If Clemens returns, the staff will be even better.
  10. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) Swell idea. Cheap shortstops with with his glove & cannon are easy to find. But pitching prospects are not, now we are thinking like KW!
  11. This sounds like the work of a turkey baster!
  12. If I am Kenny Williams (which for the record I am not), I call Brian Cashman and say, "Look pal, this is my final offer. Straight up, Juan Uribe for A-Rod and Cash." Should Cashman say no or start laughing uncontrollably, I start calling every pizza joint in New York and start having pizzas delivered to Yankee stadium address to Cashman,
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) Seriously, a lot of people are going to wind up embarassed next June/July when a few of us start reaching back and bumping these threads. I hope you are right. It is not the pitching I worry about as much as the offense's ability to cover for Freddy's 6 run meltdown ... oh wait ...
  14. Including Juan Uribe in this trade would have made it a much more effective salary dump.
  15. How about spending the money on paying Walt Hriniak to teach Brian Anderson and Juan Uribe how to hit like major leaguers in order to conpensate for the Double A pitching staff KW is plotting?
  16. My knee jerk reaction to the trade is "pay dump". I won't shed a tear for Freddy because I know his best years are behind him. It is the other trades that bother me. I hope this Garland rumor is false. We nearly hit the 3 milllion mark in attendance and cut payroll sounds like a Northside ploy. As of right now, the only real improvement is replaced 86 mph Freddy with Bmac in the rotation. Who to say that something may not be wrong with Freddy and his drop in velocity and we becomes the next Mike Sirotka? It is an imporvement for the short and long term. Roger Clemens and a few others are the only pitchers that get better with age and I am not sure Freddy fits that mold. While I stick up for this trade, I am still waiting for other improvements in the team for now, not the future.
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) WGN Radio had a clip of Ozzie running his mouth about how Brandon is going to AAA, because he doesnt want to pitch out of the pen and he has no right to ask to pitch in the rotation. Ozzie needs to learn how to keep his top lip and his bottom lip together more. Ozzie must be getting twitchy now that KW might trade his relative. Obviously that sensitivity/anger management training that was supposed to help Ozzie keep his mouth shut worked.
  18. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) Bill Veeck was the man. His autobiography, "Veeck as in Wreck" is great read if you have ever had the chance.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) I still don't understand why Bud Selig gets so much credit for bringing the Wild Card to Major League Baseball, it's not like he invented the damn thing. Bill Veeck was actually throwing around the idea long before Selig mattered. The funny thing was that Selig hated Veeck and the idea.
  20. Between her and the bearded clam shots of Lindsay Lohan, I have seen ... heck I can not even make a joke. It is just so sad that these are among the top role models for teenage girls and they are flashing their parts all over.
  21. Soxtalk would be a lot friendlier place if this stupid team that KW is trying to pry one last prospect from would just drop that last little diamond from its poop shoot.
  22. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) So it didn't work out as the strongest schedule this year. But to act as if ND schedules weak intentionally is not only inaccurate, but ignorant how how college football works. And Wisconsin's schedule was worse. They couldn't help the Big Ten being down this year and the fact they missed Ohio State, but they COULD help that they scheduled Bowling Green, San Diego St., Western Illinois and Buffalo. None of those teams are traditional rivals or traditionally strong programs. ND football is probably as polarizing an issue as abortion, you either love them or hate them. Either way, you will fall over yourself to make excuses for or against them depnding on your perspective..
