I did not read through the whole thread, but I am surprised this thread is getting a positive vibe. Good for you Sox fans, you recognize a good trade. I was waiting to log on and see name calling, personal insults, and wishing travesty on KW. I was starting to think it was just a natural Soxtalk reaction for any trade. So since I can not mock those who hate the trade ... I got nothing else to say.

Miscellaneous "MLB" Trade Notes
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Does this re-shift the Yankees to again be the "Evil Empire"? On a side note, I would like to see both franchises nuked off the face of the Earth w/o hurting innocent civilians. -
Sox looking at Fukudome, Bay, not Rowand
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to beck72's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(Markbilliards @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 12:41 PM) This could be Thome's last year on the Sox, I think there's a team option for '09, if he doesn't perform this season he could be gone, and JD would fall into the DH spot. I am just speculating, but I have trouble picturing Thome finishing his career with a team besides the White Sox. The Indians have nowhere to play him and the Cubs don't have a DH. Those were the teams he was willing to play for last time he switched teams. Of course, I could be wrong. -
GM says Sox have options (Chicago Sports.com article)

More and more, I think Kenny is not bluffing about the OF vacancies and actually believes the bs he says. -
Williams: "Linebrink + Cabrera = 1 Jon Garland."
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to TheBigHurt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think the problem with everybody's thoughts here is the idea that Kenny actually has a plan. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 27, 2007 -> 09:05 PM) I think he should wear like, scrubs, or whatever you put a patient in when they go in for surgery. Because 99% of the references to him any more have to do with replacing parts of people's elbows. Grade: A+

Slightly OT, but what hat does Tommy John wear in the hall of fame if he makes it? Or does he go the Gaylord Perry route? Cleveland Indians (1963-1964) Chicago White Sox (1965-1971) Los Angeles Dodgers (1972-1974, 1976-1978) New York Yankees (1979-1982, 1986-1989) California Angels (1982-1985) Oakland Athletics (1985)

Just saying, but I would have rather voted "none" in the last box.

Just curious, is this a simulated contract to throw simulated games? They can even pay him in simulated money.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 25, 2007 -> 05:52 PM) Jackson wasn't innocent or guilty. I don't think he deserves a lifetime ban but he wasn't "innocent" either. Slightly OT, but shouldn't his lifetime ban end since his life is in fact over and has been over for approximately 50 years? Otherwise, they should just call it an "eternal ban".

Rays Want New Waterfront Ballpark
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to Heads22's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 10:27 AM) I've heard The Hawk talk about how the stadium is on the wrong side of the city to draw attendance. Can anyone familiar with the area explain that? The new stadium would allow the Rays to draw people from out of the ocean, ... those are your real baseball fans. -
QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 07:58 AM) I agree-I am disappointed, but we gave it as big a shot as it deserved. And dont ever under-estimate that astro-turf factor. I think the only reason for being disappointed was that we thought we might actually land a big free agent. I am not sure a ton of people here actually wanted the guy.

Rays Want New Waterfront Ballpark

But when does the city of Tampa get a major league baseball team? -
Sorry to say, but if the Sox not signing Hunter means that we do not have to see Hunter at 38 in a Sox uniform patheically trying to play CF, I am sort of glad to see thsi deal not get done. There are other and perhaps more effective ways to spend money.

Torii Hunter signs with LAA Angels
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to joejoesox's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
WIth Vlad, Toriii, and Garrett Anderson in one outfield, it seems the Angels are destined to have an old beat up outfield in a few years. By the way, are the angels moving to Texas to be closer to Toriii's home? -
OFFICIAL: Sox Sign Linebrink - 4 yrs, 19 mil
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to soxbearsbulls's topic in Pale Hose Talk
A better example of a Horrible deal would be a 7 year deal with a 32 year old CF. -
QUOTE(G&T @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) Score just reported that th Dodgers may have offered Hunter a 6 year deal for over $100 million. Stress may have. And good luck with to the Dodgers and trying to get Hunter to put up the same stats in his late 30's .

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 10:11 PM) BTW, important to find another source. I haven't seen ANYTHING yet, aside from Bruce. Wouldn't it be nice for Bruce to be wrong ... again. -

Threats are prohibitted by Soxtalk, but how about a pre-disclosed suicide pact that we all make known to Kenny Williams? -
QUOTE(Linnwood @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 06:37 PM) I'd really like an explanation why Hicks & Company would lie to their hometown newspaper about hosting a dinner that didn't happen. Does KW have photographs of Tom Hicks in a compromising situation? It is all a conspiracy! Please enlighten me. A friend of mine that once lived in Texas and caught a foul ball hit by Toriii Hunter told me that Hicks did not host dinner because they ordered take out and watched the romantic comedy Hicks got from Netflix.

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 06:32 PM) Seriously. I wish I could have the 10 minutes I took to backtrack and read such a pointless argument back. I am substantially dumber. I am going to have to drop out of college because I've lost mass brain cells from it. I might as well have done opium my whole life--it'd be the same effect as reading this argument. Bob, you make me miss chat. Seems like it has been two years.

QUOTE(iamshack @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 06:12 PM) ... the news that Hunter had enjoyed dinner with Hicks and Daniels. Speaking of dinner, I think Kenny should take Toriii to Hooters tomorrow. Don't they still have all you can eat Wednesdays or some such thing?

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 06:07 PM) Already did. Read above you. Jackass is a personal attack, no? Or can you call someone "like a jackass?" I am not sure how this actually works. I will leave that up to the mods to decide. Though I think your line "Please get this poster to stop attacking me personally and get him back on his meds. He needs some help." was hilarious.

Well it has been quite a while since we had a good fight here at Soxtalk. After all, the season was over in July. I am going to start a pool: Who will be first to make a personal attack?

QUOTE(PAUL KONERKO 14 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 08:48 PM) I know, I was kidding. I just get lazy and I really am not going to read 30 plus pages of this. To be honest, I doubt anyone will just sit there reading even 10 pages. Just look at the forum home page. I am sure there are plenty of people that have read this whole thread today ... more than once. And frankly, that disturbs me more than your oversight.
