  1. Mr. Metrosexual Dayn Perry has the credibility of Bruce Levine except on a national scale.
  2. If true and Tori is a White Sox, I can't wait for the traditional knee-jerk "Oh we paid too much.." for the first hour, before Soxtalk mellows in to acceptance and perhaps rationality.
  3. The hot flash of anger to general acceptance in this thread reminds me of menopause. Let's judge this trade like the Carlos Lee trade. Trading Lee opened up a lot of acquisitions for the Sox as we all know. Let's wait to judge this trade at least until April or whenever Ozzie gives Cabrera a start at first that ends his season.
  4. Hopefully he is the first of many since more teams than the White Sox are shying away from dealing with him.
  5. So how does Jeannie Zelasko make the list? Isn't she is a different weight class?
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 06:17 PM) Which is a shame really, the .761 OPS he posted while acting as Johjima's backup last season would have been nice to have. Dam right. *Insert overused joke about Toby Hall playing 1B here*
  7. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 06:11 PM) Well today is the day free agents can start signing with other teams. : ... but must admit we are overdue for "Angry Kenny" or KW saying something preposterous. What has it been, like a week already?
  8. ... maybe KW is also throwing in Jamie Burke's jersey that Toriiii knocked him out of. Not like Burke is using it.
  9. I was just thinking today, KW has been too quiet ...
  10. Its this time of year that makes me think about guys like Jerome Walton and Pat Listach.
  11. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 07:33 PM) upon reading that post, pods immediately tore his adductor muscle. he's out four to six. ... when reached for comment, doctors expressed surprise that Pods had any muscles in the groin area still untorn.
  12. This thread is already full of the bad Erstad jokes I was hoping for. Keep them coming
  13. ... upon hearing the news, Erstad broke his ankle again. He is expected to be ready for spring training.
  14. Hooray!!! Hopefully the first of many declines to come in the next month. Do a happy dance, GrindErtad is gone (for now).
  15. Let's just bump the threads from the last two off seasons when he was up for the Mets job and several others that I do not recall. To paraphrase the past. I will buy the ticket to Pittsburgh (luggage class). I need a volunteer to drive him to the airport. I also need somebody to pay all the tolls on the highway. I suppose we should give him a snack for the flight too. ...
  16. I wonder if the Braves just plucked another John Smoltz out of the Tigers organization.
  17. Except for cases in which they play each other, the only way Indy or NE lose a game is if Brady or Manning gets seriously hurt.
  18. Even though I know it won't happen, I hope the ratings for this series are miserable.
  19. The Indians need to pretend they are facing the White Sox bullpen. This year, they would have been 3-5 already facing the White Sox pitching.
  20. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 21, 2007 -> 09:33 PM) I'm not even sure I'd consider 2005 a choke by them. 2005 was a near-choke by us and incredible, .700 ball by them. I don't consider it choking to not sustain a .700 winning percentage all through the second half or to end up winning 93 games and slashing away at a huge lead. In reality, I would tend to agree with you on that. That still does not make it any less painful for Indians fans.
  21. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 21, 2007 -> 09:27 PM) Are White Sox fans of all people ridiculing a franchise for "not being able to close the deal"? Since 1994, the Indians have been to three World Series -- that's 3/5ths as many as our franchise has in its entire existence. Sure, we won in 2005, and I'll always be happy for that, but it's pretty silly to see White Sox fans mock another franchise for being down by one run in the ALCS. Perhaps so ... but a choke is still a choke ... though I am not sure how many actually expected the Indians to win this series so much as people expect themto win the series after going up 3-1.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 21, 2007 -> 09:15 PM) Yup. Of course we have seen this before from Cle (2005) ... I think we can lump Jose Mesa and the 1997 Indians World Series team in there too ... at least as far as closing the deal goes.
  23. I wonder if the Red Sox will score in all 9 innings? Can somebody check Wedge's pulse too?
  24. For about the last three games, Cleveland looks like they don't even belong. The disappearing of their offense reminds me of Vlad and the Angels vanishing act in 2005. This is really hard to watch.
  25. I would love to get a VHS or DVD of some old games or even highlights at the old ballpark. Somebody email marketing ...
