  1. Having Suppan hit last inning rather than Braun is soooooo clutch!
  2. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 05:56 PM) The title of theis thread should just be changed to the official Ned Yost sucks thread. Hell, I might just make that thread myself. Fire Ned Yost Yesterday might be more pleasing to the popular concensus.
  3. This may need Chris Rongey in Milwaukee to stop the riots after this game.
  4. Good thing Braun is up next inning. Oh wait, I forgot. Yost is an idiot.
  5. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 05:47 PM) And who is going to get to Marmol? The 36 year old Eyre, 35 year old Howry? Kerry Wood.
  6. Why does Yost still insist on taking Braun out of close games for a defensive replacement. Is Cousell really that much better than Braun? And if the Braves tie this game, Yost looks like even more of a mental midgit.
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 05:43 PM) The question, how many guys on the Cubs are going to get better? Is Soriano? Lee? Aramis? Lilly? Marquis? Zambrano should improve next season, but the innings are a concern. I personally think Theriot is the player he is right now, not much more. The Cubs have a good veteran core. And look where it got them. I just don't see the arrow pointing up, where the Brewers still have a ton of room to grow. Yeah that's kind of my thinking. Plus, the Cubs have all these big contracts as these players get older. What is Soriano going to look like at the end of that deal?
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 05:39 PM) Can you explain what the hell just happened with that AB? Are you referring to the miracle that is Bill Hall getting a hit?
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) Don't give me s*** for this, but the Cubs should be damn good the next few years as well with their core. The Cubs are not going to improve IMO, they are only getting older. Zambrano is due to break down soon with his thousands of innings. After that, Lilly is the only starter that would strike fear in my heart. Their offense should be better next year.
  10. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) The Brewers should own this division the next few years. They are built kind of like the 2001-present Twins with a lot of scrappy players and a few sluggers. If ony Ben Sheets could go a full season without injuring himself.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 05:26 PM) Hart is such a solid player! Hart is a stud. Building the team around guys like him Braun, and Fielder, this team will hopefully be back for a stronger run next year.
  12. Yost should go ask Bobby Cox what it is like to have a bullpen and how to use it.
  13. Just scanning his game by game stats, the Brewers don't lose many games when Braun has a hit.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 05:07 PM) I'm actually a huge fan of Rivera's hitting, but if you can't bring Miller in for defensive purposes, why is he even on the team? This is as much of a mystery to me as how Ned Yost is still allowed to manage a major league team.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 05:02 PM) Wait, so Yost puts Rivera into the game, who's an absolutely horrific defensive catcher, instead of Miller? In Yost's defense (you may want to make the time and date that I defend Yost down because it won't happen often), an inning without Miller hitting or catching is better for the Brewers.
  16. Yost has adopted Ozzie Guillen's "Will somebody, anybody please get an out" 2007 bullpen therom.
  17. I shocked that Yost did not bring in Linebrink. This spot to blow the game has his name written all over it.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 04:51 PM) Yet some people want the Sox to trade for him. I can't believe they didn't have Counsell hit for Hall and put the bunt down. The White Sox have been lacking the Timo Perez/starting for no good reason player for 2 years now.
  19. Bill Hall should just prance around the field in a skirt, but that might be degrading to good women baseball players.
  20. Fathom, The only reason I am holding out hope is the thought that the Cubs might out-do themselves and undergo a new monumental collapse in the last week. To do this, they have do get their magic number to 1 and fail to close the deal until they run out of time on the last day. Unless this happens, there is no hope.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 12:54 PM) I'm sure happy the Cubs have got to beat up on players returning from injury over the last week like Mulder, Malholm, and Duke. Just wait, next week the Cubs play a little league team from Gary, Indiana coached by a guy that once met Kenny Lofton.
  22. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 09:28 PM) Damn, I'd love to see the SS Hitmen piece. There should have been a lot of 30 anniversary stories this season, but weren't unless I missed 'em. Pitch at Risk to Richie Zisk. later amended to Pitch at Risk to Carlton Fisk. I was thinking that too. They are one of the more memorable team in Sox history ... particularly for those of us that actually remember that team.
  23. It would great to see the Cubs pitching staff and bullpen take a beating for the next week or so and enter the playoffs in worse shape than the 2000 White Sox staff.
