  1. Ahhh ... this is the Brewers choking away leads in games and a 7 game lead in the division.
  2. QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 11:36 AM) I forgot about Chone Figgins... He'll likely be available in the offseason and would be a good option for leadoff and LF. Plus, if Richar doesn't pan out, we could just move Figgins to 2B and Sweeney could come up to play LF. If the price is right, I would love to get Figgins.
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 10:26 AM) The answer is yes, Jerry Owens stinks. I disagree awful and terrible are much better choices of adjectives.
  4. Let me be the first to suggest contraction start with the Red Sox and Yankees. But seriously a salary cap and capping the salary of draft pick would be helpful. Eventually, the other three cities will be dead baseball towns. Its killing the competion in simple economic terms.
  5. Bump I didn't vote the first time around on this thread, but let me say that I home he is not our lead off man next year. Also, it drives me insane how slow he is to get the ball back to the infield.
  6. That's ok, we have so many championship pieces in place for next year. /green Just ask Kenny Williams.
  7. Well the brewers seem to have awakened from their offensive slumber party for one nightb But then again, any offense looks impotent when it is trying to give run support to gas cans like Suppan and Crapuano.
  8. Bigguns all over America miss you, get back safe for more hoggin'.
  9. I see that whatever disease afficted the White Sox when playing the cubs, and the Brewers from the last time the played the Cubs until the present, has struck the cardinals like a case of leprosy.
  10. QUOTE(WCSox @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) They do? Certainly not in comparison to Seattle, San Fran, LA, etc. ... more so than say Kansas City
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) If he doesn't get a ton of major deals, I could see the Sox going for him. One thing people forget about the Japanese players is all the potential for additional/new sources of revenue that you can get if the player pans out. Hell the Daitske signing by the Red Sox is looking like a steal because of all the Japanese money that has been filtering into the Red Sox organization (money that they wouldn't have gotten a year ago). ... and Chicago does have a sizable Japanese population (no I am not a census taker). I think/hope the price will drop at some point and then I wonder if he would play LF.
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 03:58 PM) I read in SI that he's going to get $15 million a year for 4 or 5 years. The Sox wouldn't have gone there, and I don't blame them. Just for s***s and giggles, I will be interested to see who pays for it since the Red Cubs have a pretty full outfield and the Yanks would seem to have bigger issues (1B, starters not named Roger).
  13. With the possibility of a below .500 team coming out of the NL Central, I have been thinking about the possibility of one big division in each league with the top four records going to the playoffs. This year, the Mets, Phils, and Braves are light years ahead of anybody in the NL central. Yet at least one will be watching the playoffs from home. I know this format would never happen, but it makes to interesting possibilities.
  14. I am going to guess that this means the White Sox will not pursue Fukodome this off season. I kind thought maybe that was the name KW gave Buehrle in their super secret meeting. IF Dye rebounds from an off year and we are able to fill the other holes, I am not totally against this move. $11 mil is not a lot IF Dye stays healthy.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) Estrada's body language on the field is so bad. They'd be better off releasing him and just playing Miller and some other scrub. Estrada has been such a disappointment, his conduct reminds of a catcher that the Cubs dumped a few weeks ago. And after the Cubs dumped that albatross, they got better ... for a while.
  16. This Brewers team looks suspiciously like the White Sox of June. Their pitching sucks a fat one and their offense is pretty much based on the mythical solo homerun. Even better, they are playing like they have already quit. I believe members of the team decided to shave their heads in order to better give access to their rotting hopes to the maggots.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 07:21 PM) Brewers are going to end up below .500 this year. That might still win the NL Central, though I am hoping the Cards are ready to ride a hot streak for the next 40-some days.
  18. It appears that the Cardinals have picked a great time to get hot.
  19. It may only take 81 wins or .500 ball to win the NL Comedy Central. How sad.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 09:10 PM) Brewers on the way to losing the 15th straight game in which Capuano has started. Ned Yost does a horrible job of leaving his starters out on the mound way too long when they clearly don't have anything. Crapuano is awful. I wonder what the odds are that the Cards are only a few games out by weeks end after ripping apart the Brewers and Cubs.
  21. I have wonder if they proved Jose lied about about his age, they could void the rest of the contract.
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) Come on AJ, I'll even take the GIDP here. Ask and you shall receive.
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 03:32 PM) f*** that, I could care less about the Cubs chances of making the playoffs. If I had to choose between dumping Contreras' contract on some NL team and the Cubs making the playoffs or holding onto Contreras and the Cubs missing the playoffs I'll take the former 100% of the time. I have my priorities in order. Ok.
  24. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) Should I put my halloween costume back on for you? Want to go to a Cubs game some time?
