QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 09:03 PM) Let's see just how long Ozzie can keep Contreras in the game tonight. Jose is on an 8 run minimum. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 08:05 PM) So far its a good news Wednesday. JD is helping himself, hits a nice 3 run jack. The Brewers give up 3 prospects for a rental that isnt exactly pitching excellent. And Contreras has his forkball working pretty well. Hopefully by next week, we have some personnel moves, and we have a new SS named Hu or Escobar. ... and that's when we knew that Kenny Williams sold his soul to the devil. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 08:02 PM) The Brewers just aren't that good anymore. They're something like 6 games under .500 since they started off the year hot. Their offense has been real mediocre lately, so I guess overpaying for Linebrink makes sense. J.J. Hardy's power has absolutely vanished. In the Brew Crew's favor, Bill Hall came back from the DL today. And even though Hall numbers are down this year, having Tony Graf. in OF shows they were missing something. ... Also, the CUbs can not possibly continue to play at this pace, can they? If so, we will look at the Cubs-Sox series as when it all started ... sigh!

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 07:44 PM) I really beleive Williams is going to make a HUGE splash this off-season, for better or worse. I just can invision the quote "We won't stand for what happened in 2007, and this is the best way to go about it." There will be no re-build, and while my faith in Williams has gone down, I still think this team can be saved by 08. With the lack of "difference makers" among outfielders in next year's free agent class, I would be surprised to not see KW make a go at Fukodome. Not like the White Sox have any young outfielders banging down the doors. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 07:18 PM) I always get Hot Mustard with my Nuggets. As far as I know, they it left. Really? Not that I frequent McDonald's, but the last time I was there, a McWorker told me that they stop carrying it. I felt like Homer in the RibWich episode of the Simpsons. So what next? Is McDonald's going to get arid of the McJordan? The Beef Wennington? The McDLT? -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 07:12 PM) They could include an option where if he is one of the top linebackers in the league, he can upgrade to chicken selects. Will McDonald's bring back the Hot Mustard sauce? That pissed me off when McDonald's phase out that McNuggets sauce. -

QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 05:44 PM) Does anybody else dread watching the games that Contreras starts? Go Sox! It would be much harder to find somebody that eagerly anticipates Contreras starts. -

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 01:46 PM) I am going to call your theory complete garbage. He pitched very well in April and May of last year, and he pitched well down the stretch until the Sox were eliminated. He was doing everything in his power to get the Sox back into the race; unfortunately for him, he received like 2 runs of support a game and was a sub .500 pitcher in the 2nd half. I think it was really just a matter of adjusting to the league and getting comfortable on a team for once. Javy went from Montreal to New York, and then New York to Arizona, and then Arizona to Chicago in the period of 3 seasons. This is the first time he's spent 2 years in the same place since 2002-2003. I love these types of threads too, BTW. I can't say I told you so until like September, but if he keeps this up, it will be fun. I had to zen on some of the things you said before I responded. While there is so logic to your thoughts, you also seem to be suffering from a selective memory. Javy did start the year pretty well for the White Sox in 2006. His June and July were awful so I would not say he pitched well down the stretch until the Sox were eliminated. And finishing the sixth inning was the exception more than the rule last year. 2006 Stats However, your idea about adjusting to new league/teams may be Javy's problem. Montreal was comfortable because he was there for several years. Then he had three teams in three years. It is hard to be comfortable anywhere when that happens. But his struggles also parallel playing for more competitive teams. We can argue either theory until the Cubs win a World Series and not have answer. Neither may be correct. Though I would hope Javy continues to pitch well and Sox are a playoff contendor so you can say for certain you were right.
