  1. Did somebody say something about hardcore? *contemplates appropriate image
  2. Wow. When was the last time there was not a game thread on a day that the board was functioning?
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 05:16 PM) Just have to hope Cubs face the Mets in the first round...the rest of the teams in the NL have too many pitching injuries right now. Even though I am not sure they will make it to the playoffs, Chris Young's team seems to be handling the Cubs pretty well too.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 05:09 PM) Brewers just got swept. I like how he let D. Miller hit against the righty in the 9th inning leading off the inning. I bet they're sure happy they gave up the farm to get Linebrink. The Brewers look almost as lifeless as the White Sox. Next stop, getting swept by the Cubs. I'm calling it right now. It will be the spring board the Cubs need to win the central before losing in the first round of the playoffs.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 05:00 PM) Brewers are now losing, as Linebrink just gave up another run. Hart couldn't see a fly ball, and then made a horrific throw home. Yost is the worst manager I've seen in baseball this year....even worse than Ozzie! Again, Ned Yost should be fired. Not so much because of the complete collapse of the Brewers, but because he is the worst manager in baseball. He consistently puts his players in a position to lose. Unless something is done, a young team like this might never recover.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 04:39 PM) Brewers just blew another significant lead. David Bush allows so many runs late in games, yet Ned Yost always leaves him in way too long. Ned Yost should be fired.
  7. I am not sure if it more embarassing to get pwned by Julian Tavarez or that are big three (Thome, Konerko, and Dye) made enough noise to make Helen Keller think she could hear.
  8. Why would the Cubs go out and get another middle infielder? I realize they are an illogical organization, but even Wil E. Coyote's ideas look good once in a while.
  9. I am kind of surprised by this. I guess this starts giving us more options for next year.
  10. The Brewers are doing an amazing job of making one of baseballs worst teams look good this weekend.
  11. This actually started turning into one of the few entertaining game threads this year ... once the White Sox were getting blown out.
  12. Now that the initial euphoria has worn off, are we still sold. The guy has not cracked .190. His defense, which was supposed to be his flaw, has actually been reasonably solid. Seems to me that this guy is getting a free pass while Owens is taking a beating. Only difference is that Richar has more potential. But then again, a lot of guys have potential.
  13. QUOTE(chisoxt @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 05:13 PM) You may be right. It's only going to help if we draft and SIGN a player commensurate with the draft slot. Looking into the future "We drafted the player we thought would give the most for our money", said Kenny Williams after drafting a player that was not even starting on his high school team.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 05:55 PM) I just wish there would have been a "Singleton's next murder will be his first". Or "A Murder here makes it a one man booth."
  15. I would like to blame the Sox for being too cheap to get a decent broadcaster by resigning Rooney, but this is actually on the Score.
  16. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 05:47 PM) "Chris Singleton pulls out a knife, jabs me in the heart. That's what you do when you kill a man with a knife; you stab him in the heart. Line shot foul by Erstad. Bleeding on the mic now. That's what happens when you have a knife wound in your heart; you bleed on the mic. Erstad goes down swinging. Feeling faint now. That's what happens when the blood drains from your body; you feel faint. Here's Andy Gonzalez. Pretty much dead now, Light it Up. Go crazy." Gold. I only changed one thing/
  17. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) I wouldn't mind seeing Jose bring a couple of stone tablets out to the mound. That visual might save the season for me. Jose would need a really long beard and a robe/cloak too. Would it be to tacky if he still wore his White Sox hat? ...and wouldn't Jerry Manual look good in a pharoh costume when Jose says, "Let my people go" ... no I mean ... "I'll make these fans go home."
  18. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) Lotta Jerry Manuel references today. And a nice shot of Singleton in the booth. He looks as bored as Uribe does every game. That's an excellent reflection on both, by the way. Singleton isn't bored, he has to listen to Farmer all day. Personally, I would have taken my life long ago if I had to do that.
  19. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) I dare you to prove that Contreras is 50. Contreras, my friend, is 74 years of age. What he's accomplishing at this time is unprecedented. One only look to the Bible for Moses to compare what somebody Contreras's age has done before.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 05:33 PM) Contreras is on my good side right now, as at least he came over to Buckvich and tried to cheer him up today. That's too bad. Given the opportunity, I would have urinated on them both. On a seriously note, Bukvich is probably our second best guy out of the pen after Jenks. That is so sad.
  21. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) Myers is a terrific young pitcher. Here's only 12 years younger than than 50 year old young stud Jose Conterares who we have for two more years!
  22. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 05:27 PM) "Fathom, Kenny Williams here. Stay out of White Sox business." Kenny Williams is only polite to Sox fans when the team is winning. Sorry.
  23. How can this team contend next year when nobody besides Jenks would even make another major league roster? Good luck getting 6 new bullpen arms for next season Kenny!
