  1. Got this from the Reds board that I sited above
  2. I really don't give dam where Jermaine wants to be traded to, I want to get the best players in return. One would get the impression that the Red Sox are not going to be that team.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 06:18 PM) I would love to get Lugo. Do Contreras for Lugo and Willy Mo (with the BoSox picking up a very good chunk of Lugo's contract). The key of course being the Red Sox pick up some of that inflated contract.
  4. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 06:06 PM) Lugo and Uribe have identical averages, both play short stop, and both are batting last. ... and to think some of us here thought Lugo would be a good pick up.
  5. I love when our line up does not have Contrares in it. That said, I hope he throws a perfect game tomorrow so we can trade him.
  6. Here's what I found on Redzone (Reds message board). Lol, I hope that is not Steff's source. Dunn to Brewers
  7. 10-1 win over the Snakes showed good offense. I hope the D-Backs get hot this weekend. I'll be at tomorrow Brewer game in LF, hopefully Barry is playing but goes homerless.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 05:19 PM) Dave Littlefield may be a bad GM but he's not retarded. And paying Jason Kendall half his salary elsewhere is a good move? Not to mention send Ramirez to the Cubs for virtually nothing.
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 05:17 PM) Unless the Pirates are eating half his current contract and the Sox are giving nothing up in return I don't see how it could be called an upgrade at all. I don't see either of those things happening let alone even one of them. They're both terrible hitters and good defensively except one of them is guaranteed over $14M over the next 2 seasons and would have to be acquired, meaning you're giving up talent in order to acquire his mediocre ass. That would be the ONLY way it happens.
  10. Just to spell it out again, here are my reason for Jack Wilson speculation: 1) There are not any good free agent SS this off season. 2) I doubt we are going to get a stud SS prospect 3) Uribe seems to have worn out his welcome I don't want Wilson personally, but there are not a ton of options.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 04:23 PM) Cubs just don't lose right now....at least the Brewers are playing solid baseball so that they still have the lead in the NL Central. The Brewers desperately need another bat though. The Cubs have played the last place team from the Central, before playing the last place team from the West. There is a reason Lee chose to serve his suspension now. The competition is awful. I hope Chris Young tears things up at Wrigley this weekend, the Cubs will actually be playing an above .500 team.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 04:45 PM) Jack Wilson is not an upgrade from Juan Uribe. I would disagree. He is an upgrade in the sense that herpes in remission is better than herpes.
  13. Don't kill the messager, but I have a funny feeling KW has eyes on Wilson and wants the Pirates to eat some of the salary like they are paying Jason Kendall to play for the Cubs. Just a suspicion, based on nothing other than no good SS being on the market this offseason.
  14. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 04:23 PM) uribe would look good selling cotton candy at the stadium. Nah, he would be selling cotton candy in the upper deck and throw the cotton candy too hard, knocking the kids out of the upper deck.
  15. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 04:19 PM) a lot of Uribe rumors been flying around (not picking up his option/looking for replacements). ... I hear the Yankees are interested in Uribe's offense at SS.
  16. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jul 18, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) Haha I know. I'm just sayin'. I think it will be @ SF and @ LAD I am kinda hoping for Arizona. I have friends out there to stay with and I can watch Chris Young in person.
  17. WooHoo!!!!! Back in business ... again. Still looks great, hopefully no more crashes.
  18. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 18, 2007 -> 03:31 PM) While you'd much prefer to see Jack Wilson hit .250 with absolutely no power to speak of? Jack Wilson is terrible, plain and simple. I'd rather go with Andy Gonzalez at SS. If you take the time to go back a few pages, I bashed Jack Wilson too. My point is that anything is an upgrade on Uribe, even a .250 hitter that plugs the gap until he get something better.
  19. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jul 18, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) That's what I've thought, but on MLB The Show for PS2, my friend told me that when he got into 2008 with the Sox, it said @ Atlanta and @ NYM MLB hasn't made out its plans yet, so I would not worry about what your friend's PS2 says.
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 18, 2007 -> 03:03 PM) Unf***ing believable how many runs the Cubs score on defensive miscues or after errors that would have ended the inning. If I did not know they were the Cubs, I would say they are a team of destiny.
  21. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 18, 2007 -> 02:53 PM) Not saying Jerry owens is an answer to an OF spot for next year, but he's quietly hitting .320 this month. It's easy to miss that, but I have been impressed with Owens lately. I would rather see him in LF that CF though. His defense is only a slight upgrade on Pods.
  22. 1) Mark Buehrle is a good pitcher 2) Where the f*** has Charlie Haeger been all year when we needed him? KW better not trade him.
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 18, 2007 -> 01:25 PM) Wilson and Uribe are pretty much the same damn player, why replace one problem with another? I'd rather just sign John McDonald in the offseason live with the horrid offense but get some great defense for 1/10 of the price of a Wilson or Uribe. Not that I disagree, but there are not a lot of options and I can not stomach another year of watching Uribe try to "hit".
