It is realy not that uncommon for a player to take less to stay with the same team. If you think back awhile, some guy named Paul Konerko did it.

Ichiro deserves his own thread
Here's an interesting tidbit about Ichiro and the Cubs Link Now the Cubs fans will probably boo him when he next comes to the north side.

The only reason I see for optimism is that I find it hard to believe that the organization would put out releases that seem to include breadcrumbs of hope such as the one one the previous page. IT would only make the PR nightmare of a failed Buehrle signing worse.

Maybe we can trade Noah to the Knicks for two more high draft picks.

White Sox vs. Devil Rays, 6/28/07 (W)
Uribe and Pods are such incredible rally killers. If KW does not resign them (because they are cheap) would any team actually want them?

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 08:02 PM) I can't remember the last time I saw a pick that was a lock to fail like this by a Chicago team . At least some of the Bears busts were really good in college, Noah was just overrated and mediocre. Cade McNown. Everybody almost immediately hated him.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 07:56 PM) Sox lefties 0-9 with 3 K's In all fairness to the White Sox, your stats factor in Pods as a hitter. In fact, Pods is not an actual major league hitter but a poser.

Nothing to do with his skills, I just loath the Bulls pick from what I heard in a TV interview. He is the most arrogant athletes to never produce that I have ever heard. But a bet a lot of 14 year old girls will be wearing his jersey because he has nice hair. Nice job Pax! QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 07:55 PM) I say we riot. ... first stop, George Offman's house, than the Score, than Paxson..

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) I just hope Pods ends up around .250 again, and there will be no thought at all of bringing him back. Personally, I would prefer we trade him before July 31 for a sack of bloated feces.

For the record, I still hate Scott Podsednik ... and George Offman.

Danny Richar Trade
FYI - Richar player ss and 2B in the B-backs organization. Throwing issues caused them to start focusing him more at 2b which is where the Sox have him. For you discussion: What are the odds that this is our lead off may say ... April 2008? Just a hunch, I would venture to say better than 50%.

It's that time of year again, so in case anybody wants to know where KW can find Carl Everett, here's an article on ESPN. Crazy Carl

500 for The Big Hurt
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) ESPN did a nice little piece on him. We were lucky to witness some of the things he accomplished here; it's amazing hearing the names his numbers are compared to. I'm a little surprised ESPN knows about Frank Thomas or that there are players that don't play for the Red Sox or Yankees.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) While we're foolishly waiting around for any type of update, what's everyone's percentage in terms of Buehrle re-signing in the next 2 days? I'm at 30 pct now. "50-50, but there only a 10% chance of that." - George Kennedy The Naked Gun

500 for The Big Hurt
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 02:02 PM) When Frank retires, I cannot wait for the game where they retire 35 and dedicate a statue on the concourse. IMO, Joe Jackson should be the next statue they make. But once Frank retires, he needs to be on the left field wall and have statue.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) Yep, and at least that will speed up the decision to trade him. They can't let this situation loom over the organization for another month. And the fall out will be exacerbated by the Score's slip up.

500 for The Big Hurt
Always a White Sox in my book, Congrats big man. You'll be get another nice ovation when you come to the Cell. Anybody else planning their trip to Cooperstown for Frank's induction ceremony?
