Paxton/Kluber/Richards. Having Lynn gives you that chance at a flier. Also if the money is right they could do Q as long relief/swing man. Or someone else. Extra insurance.

I think getting Lynn sets you up better take a big swing at a Paxton/Kluber/Richards because those guys have a more boom or bust risk to them. Also Lynn is not expensive to where you can pay those guys the 1 year flier.

I don’t disagree that the Sox did not handle Machado correctly and have probably botched PLENTY of FA signings in the past. We definitely don’t know all the details. But we do know that Wheeler turned down more money to play elsewhere. So it isn’t ALWAYS about the money. They also know what Bauer is asking for/looking at. He is a very particular person and it could be something very specific. We have no idea with him. I am just saying it isn’t as easy to say just sign any FA we want.

All this talk of Bauer or Sox signing FA...what if guys just don’t want to sign here? Just because Hahn gives an offer and in the case of Wheeler it was higher and he still didn’t sign here. We can’t make FA sign here. Sometimes trades are your best options and they traded away a guy they view would probably be best as a 4/5 in a championship rotation.

Finally some good news! From everything I have seen this looks like a great hire. I personally wanted Fetter (Tigers now 2-2 on hires that I thought would be good), but think Katz could be just as good. He already did wonders with Giolito (so I am sure he is pumped), so hopefully he can do the same with Cease & Kopech. I saw this mentioned elsewhere in this thread, but I hope this signals that Hahn is hiring the staff. I am pretty sure LaRussa doesn't even know who this guy is.

Hopefully...but we are going up against THE ONE GUY who cuts all the checks and he is totally against firing. So we will see how that goes.

So do I. Outside of the very top I bet most didn't want this hire or if they were ok with it before now don't want it because of this shit storm. It is really unfortunate because it was totally avoidable and we should be celebrating the growth of this team.

Same here. I mentioned people I lost to drunk driving and he was very sympathetic over a few different emails.

100% agree. Only reason I sent an email. Paper trail of real people cancelling their tickets with the reason why. No butts in the seats is about the only statement we can really make.

My dad and I had a 10 game plan and we chose not to renew and I let Brooks Boyer know about it. He surprisingly responded within a day. He basically said "Not much I can say but I get it. Only way he resigns is if he just realizes he doesn't want to deal with the whole situation...which given his ego like you mention, seems unlikely.
