  1. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 24, 2008 -> 02:53 PM) when we first got masset and danks i remember farmer saying someone in the texas organization told him Masset had the best pick off move for texas...farmer said, dont you mean danks, and the guy said no masset.... and farmer just retold the story as im typing it That is a pretty good move for a RHP so young. Hard to teach that.
  2. QUOTE (feistyboy @ May 24, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) Finally an out! Now the soft part of the lineup. Get a DP or something here. The runners are on 2nd and 3rd?
  3. Walk a batter batting .179 to get to a batter batting .318, nice.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2008 -> 02:29 PM) That was like pitch 98 by JD. I wouldn't be surprised if he just didn't have anything left. True, but it looked like a changeup right down the pipe. Not very hard to hit for someone like Vlad. At least throw it off the plate some.
  5. Why throw anything in the zone to Vlad on the first pitch?
  6. Should be at least 2nd and 3rd and no outs, ugh.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2008 -> 02:14 PM) Just stepped in. Man JD has thrown a lot of pitches. He had a 28 pitch 2nd inning.
  8. Now John needs a quick 1-2-3 against the bottom of their order. Get Weaver back up.
  9. Nice that our bullpen got some rest last night, even in the loss. Sox are 11-6 in Day games.
  10. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ May 23, 2008 -> 04:38 PM) Rivera was a setup man, so it's not fair to compare him by checkpoint. I mean, give me a break. Three seasons in, and he's the new Rivera? Closers are fickle creatures. Let's see how Bobby does for the coming years before we start polishing his plaque. Is he underrated? I don't think so. He's a very good, able closer, but I don't feel any indignation on his behalf. Who said he was the new Rivera? I was simply comparing saves to age. The only thing I said was "Bobby still needs about 5-6 more 30+ save seasons to compare to Rivera".
  11. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 23, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) I wanted to get your thoughts on this. Is Bobby Jenks one of the most underrated players in Major League Baseball? You never hear him mentioned as one of the elite closers, but he is one save away from 100 career saves in only his 3rd full season. For compression: Mariano Rivera got his 100th save in his 3rd full season as a closer. Yes Rivera is on a whole other level, but think about it. I would say that is a fair statement. I think it has to do with the fact that he is not throwing 100mph heat anymore. He is actually pitching and not just blowing it by people. Taking Bobby's last birthday as a checkpoint: Jenks at 27, 87 saves Rivera at 27, 48 saves Papelbon at 27, 72 saves Bobby still needs about 5-6 more 30+ save seasons to compare to Rivera. If he does that, there is no reason not to compare him to Rivera.
  12. Absolute garbage. CQ has raked at every level, and if not for an injury, he would be killing the ball for Arizona. The only way we pick him up is with the injury. If they are going to mention CQ because of his performance, then what about Josh Hamilton, Nate McLouth, and Ryan Ludwick? None of those guys are on anything. They are just having some breakout years. They should be applauded, not accused.
  13. BACK TO BACK SWEEPS! Have not lost a series since Toronto, May 5th.
  14. 2 hitter complete! 8 Game winning streak! Largest Divisional lead in the MLB! 6 games over .500!
  15. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 22, 2008 -> 07:05 PM) I don't know how you can play baseball after eating all those hot dogs.
  16. Linebrink has not allowed a run since April 28th. Only 4 hits and 2 walks in that span.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) That can't be right with CQ. 4-5-6
  18. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 22, 2008 -> 02:30 AM) i dunno about you, but i'd feel a bit more comfortable with an 8 or 9 game lead The biggest divisional leader only has a 3 game lead. We have a 2.5 game lead. At this point in the season, that is a pretty nice lead. Also, we only have one more loss than the best in the AL. An 8 or 9 game lead would be nice, but we don't want to get complacent. As long as we keep on winning series, we will be looking good in September.
