QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 07:58 PM) Terry Francona changed all his players besides Gonzalez at SS. It is amazing how early he does that.

Every starter with a hit by the 4th inning? Unpossible.
-
Byrd is due to give up some runs after shutting out Toronto for 6 innings. Time to bring his ERA back to the norm.
-
10 out of our last 12 runs have come in the 8th and 9th innings. Are we turning this thing around?

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 12:48 PM) It really isnt. Yes he's been bad, but that was a misleading stat and you know it. In the last 10 losses that Pena pitched in, he was directly involved in 4 of those losses. I stopped there. I could go on. There is no way you can make that seem like it is not bad. MIN 4-3 (Pena allows 2 hits and Thornton's run scores) BOS 3-2 (Pena allows HR and takes loss) SEA 1-0 (Pena allows only run and takes loss) SEA 6-4 (Pena allows 2-run HR, 1 inherited runner scores)

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 12:40 PM) And he entered when they were already losing in like every game but 3. That stat is not nearly as terrible as you're trying to make it seem. Yes it is. He has allowed a bunch of inherited runners to score, or allowed some on his own. That resulted in the Sox losing or making a comeback impossible. It is that bad.

The last 12 times Pena has appeared in a game, the Sox have lost. The Sox are 5-18 when he makes an appearance. Wow.

No one wants to get the last out in the Dome. -
Right now he is between a good Uribe (2004-2006) and a bad Uribe (2007-2009) or a good OCab (2008) and a bad OCab (2009).

From one article, Thome was talking to Torre the night before. So this is not something that the Sox did to him in a vacuum. I am sure they discussed it and allowed him to discuss his role with LAD if he was dealt.
-
Man, BP had us pegged right again.

Thome, $ to LAD for Fuller-Jose to COL for $, Hynick

Interesting that Thome knew the night before. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_leagu...?urn=mlb,186333 -
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 05:30 PM) The chances here are so slim for any of this to happen. If I am correct another team will still have to claim a player on waivers, and if the Sox are telling every team this some teams may claim a player to block him from a contender. Also, the playoff roster deadline is tonight I believe, meaning the timeline is VERY short for a trade to be made. I just dont see anything big happening unless a team claims a salary dump from the Sox. Even if a team blocks the waiver from a contender, can't the Sox just dump the player on that team? Just getting Linebrink off the books would be a win-win situation.

It is kinda funny that people blame Walker for the hitters sucking, but Cooper is never blamed for the bullpen choking. Someone illustrated that Aardsma, MMac, and Masset are all pitching better than most of our bullpen, yet they were just as bad as our current bullpen when they were here. The bottom line is that it is the players fault. They are paid millions of dollars to play a game that they have been doing for most of their lives. I also blame Getz. Since he has been out, the Sox have really stunk it up.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 01:48 PM) We have to hope Linebrink has a 2005 Cliff Politte-type resurgence next year. Its our only hope. The Sox are stuck with him. Look at his pre and post ASB splits. Two different pitchers. -

QUOTE (CQMVP @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) What was Freddy's pitch count when he was yanked? Anyone know? It seems like we should just let our starters pitch the entire game every other day. It's really the only chance we have to win. Twenty-two runs in the 7 games against NY and Boston from our bullpen? LOL 96 pitches. -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 12:16 PM) Anybody want to re vote in my poll? Like I said, there is no point in pitching Peavy this year. Just get him ready for 2010. The Mitchell injury is not relevant at all unless it's somehow way more serious than it sounds, it's late in the minor league season anyway and it's not like he's anywhere near ready to be in Chicago anyways. I would leave him on the DL for the rest of the year. We are closer to 4th in the Division than 1st. We will be lucky to hold of the Indians for the 3rd place.

Wow nice strike zone. Garcia would be a Cy Young candidate with those type of calls. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 08:06 AM) Are we watching the same offense? And I can't help but to feel that a couple blowout wins has skewed our numbers for August. Seems like 6 out of 7 games we're struggling to get anything going offensively. EDIT: Just got back from the gym. Was watching ESPN News while doing cardio and the stat they flashed during the Sox/Yanks game recap was that we haven't scored more than 5 runs in 31 of the last 40 games. I knew my instinct was right. What is odd is that we have scored 2 or less only 11 times in our last 70 games. So we are scoring enough to win. We shouldn't have to score 5 runs to win every game. As bad as our offense has looked our bullpen and our defense have been even worse.

Trade Pena for Nick Green!

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 06:46 PM) I hope Jenks can get a save this evening....I need one out of him for my fantasy league. If Jenks is in for a save situation, we are in really bad shape.

So Paulie has now Tripled, went from 1st to 3rd on a single, and scored from 1st on a Double in the last two games. New shoes?
