  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 02:14 PM) Maybe Buehrle should have started opening day again...Thats what I was thinking.
  3. 1 hour and 23 minutes................... Can't wait.
  4. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 12:02 PM) There are three things that can happen during the season. 1) The player's value goes up. 2) The player's value goes down. 3) The player's value stays the same. The contract negotiations could make the player A) Feel better and motivated. B) Stay the same. C) Feel unwanted and perhaps distracted. The Good: 1A, 1B The Bad: 1C, 2A, 2B, 2C The Ordinary: 3B What happened to 3A and 3C?
  5. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 1, 2007 -> 10:20 PM) Erstad, the lefty, starting in CF. SHOCKED I tell you, SHOCKED I am. Erstad is a lifetime .333 batter vs Sabathia, so it actually makes sense.
  6. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 03:00 AM) http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/USIL0225_f.html The 60s part is still there but now it's scattered "strong" thunderstorms. Bring the poncho! On the hourly forecast it shows partly sunny at about 60 degrees with zero precipitation. T-storms are not until overnight. http://wwwa.accuweather.com/forecast-hourl...13&hbhday=1
  7. Hermie was cut. http://frontier.cincinnati.com/blogs/sprin...manson-gone.asp
  8. http://www.sptimes.com/2007/04/01/Rays/Ang...sent_down.shtml I was kinda surprised to see him as one of the players sent down by the Rays. He was huge for them in 2005.
  9. Can one of the Mods create the Pick to Click forum? Kinda cutting it close this year.
  10. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Mar 31, 2007 -> 06:54 PM) Thank you, LOL. I thought it meant "Quit F***ing Talking." Thus my suprise... You damn internet people with your newfangled abbreviations. Ya know when I was your age cars couldn't go up hills! Now that was a funny one.
  11. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 31, 2007 -> 12:05 PM) No TV Just MLB.TV and Gameday Audio.
  12. Final Spring Training game, lets end it on a good note. Starters: Vazquez vs Redman Lineups: Chicago Podsednik, LF Ozuna, 2B Thome, DH Konerko, 1B Dye, RF Crede, 3B Cintron, SS Anderson, CF Molina, C Atlanta Johnson, K, 2B Renteria, SS Jones, C, 3B Jones, A, CF Pena, B, C Francoeur, RF Thorman, 1B Wilson, DH Langerhans, LF Hopefully Vazquez shows us something today.
  13. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 03:54 PM) Interest fact: During the period between 2000-2006 there have only been 5 teams who have not had a losing season; The Yankees, Red Sox, A's, Cardinals, and White Sox. How about there is only one team with 200 wins since 2005 (including the playoffs). Your Chicago White Sox! Factors - Cleveland's bullpen will be their demise, and CLee and CC are still questionable Minnesota is minus Liriano and need Mauer and Morneau to duplicate 2006 (unlikely) Detroit is already down one starter and their others will regress KC is KC
  14. Maybe we could get the Pick to Click going again.
  15. One less LHP the Sox have to face is a good thing. Hopefully the rest of the staff will revert back to 2003-2005 levels.
  16. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 01:30 PM) I expect Detroit to be good, but I still look at their record in the 2nd half, 40-41, and think this team had a lot of things go their way in the first half. We know what that's like. And we also know it doesn't always go your way two years in a row.They were even worse from August 1st on (25-32).
  17. At Yahoo Sports, Passan has the Sox 4th in the AL Central at 78-84 and Brown has them tied for 3rd at 85-77. Brown also picks Konerko as his AL MVP and Erstad as the AL Comeback Player. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AiLb...o&type=lgns
  18. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 09:57 AM) If Tucson is so bad why are they staying in AZ? Why not move to Florida does it make sense to stay there if the conditions are not conducive to a successful spring training? They used to be in Sarasota, but moved to ARZ. I think that is why they are trying to move north where the conditions are a little better.
  19. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 09:49 AM) Looking at some Ozzie quotes in today's Sun Times, regarding Logan's demotion... Maybe I'm overanalyzing, but I get the impression that maybe Ozzie wanted Logan on the team, and he was overridden (I assume by Kenny) to take Sisco instead. If that's the case, you've got KW putting Sisco (boo) and Anderson (yay) on the team, over Ozzie's preferences. I think Kenny is one of the best GM's in the game, but I do wonder if sometimes he is a little too interested in showing the world his trades were good. Which is weird because I think the Sisco trade WAS good, even if Sisco is in AAA this year. And I still think the Chris Young trade was good, even though Anderson struggled last year. Why rush Sisco? I doubt KW's job is in immediate jeopardy. I just don't see the logic there. For Logan, I think it came down to him or Sisco, and since Sisco already had two seasons in the bigs, that may have been the determining factor (options and service time).
  20. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 03:20 AM) yeah, he's on my fantasy team along with like 5 other guys who are starting the year on the DL or are quite banged up at the very least. I mean, Figgins, Furcal, Gagne (that was one of the computer's picks I hated), Weaver, RJ, Sabathia...some can be understood, but 6 guys? That's just bad luck. Wow, that is messed up. Hopefully you have decent subs to fill in.
  21. QUOTE(whitesox07champs @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 07:49 PM) Man thats just ignorant. I never said they dont count. Of course they do but tell me, last year with the start that the sox had and the start that the twins had. Which games counted more the White sox april wins or the Twins wins in September? I dont know about you, but from what I saw the Twins were a much better team when IT COUNTED. If you wanna be a dumb fan who cant see things the way they are thats youre problem. But sometimes we gotta look at the bigger picture.How is that ignorant? You said: I was just pointing out that it doesn't matter when you win the regular season games. The problem with the Sox was they didn't win enough games period. It would not have mattered if they won a couple more games in April, May or September. A dumb fan? You are the one that is digging yourself a huge hole - so keep digging.
  22. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 12:11 PM) Believe me, we've been talking about all this stuff. I know. I remember rumblings about it when the other sites opened last year, but it seemed like nothing ever materialized.
  23. QUOTE(whitesox07champs @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 07:25 PM) That is a dumb argument. To me the point is to stay in it until september and then we see which teams have what it takes to get it done. Do you really think a team is gonna take ALL 162 games seriously? I would love to think that but im not that stupid. Just ask the Cardinals last year. Good teams turn it on when they have to and other ones choke it away!That is not a dumb argument. Teams get to the playoffs on their overall record. A win is a win. A loss is a loss. The Cardinals? That is your example? They played in the worst division in baseball and almost didn't make the playoffs. No, there is no way to stay focused for the entire 162 games (that is why they give players days off), but saying games in April "don't count" is just stupid.
  24. QUOTE(whitesox07champs @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 06:07 PM) Being that Ozzie has always preached small ball and doing the little things I dont see how that will work for us this year. The truth is that we dont have the pitching staff to stay in games this year. Small ball works great when you have low scoring games, but when the team's ERA is close to 5 it is tough to give up outs and sacrifice yourself. So what do I think will happen? The team's offense will get blazin HOT for a while and will carry the team. When that ends we will do what we did last year become a middle of the pack team that had an incredible record in the 1st half but when the games really count and the games get serious we will just struggle against good pitching. Sure we did win 90 games last year but not when they counted! We play in the best division in baseball and relying on Home Runs against the best pitching in baseball is a very tough task. Now if Buehrle and Vazquez get it together, this can be a whole different story. But honestly I dont see it! Am I the only one? Not when the games counted? Are you talking about Spring Training, because every win and loss has an impact on making the playoffs during the regular season. Just ask the teams that miss the playoffs by one or two games if those games early in the season mattered. Hell if it wasn't for the early season games Detroit would have never made it to the WS. Don't forget other teams have issues too. The Tigers already have Kenny Rogers on the DL, the Twins are one injury to Mauer or Morneau away from being out of it and are already playing without Liriano. For Cleveland, Lee is already on the DL and who knows how Sabathia will pitch after getting hit on the pitching arm. The other Divisions have similar problems, just look at NYY or LAA. The Sox, just like every other team have to count on all their players to play decent baseball. If all of our players play up to their capabilities and the other teams do the same, I like our chances.
