  1. This article seems to clear up a lot and includes some more quotes: http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws
  2. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) you mean that a Sox starting pitcher is getting rocked in their 1st Spring Training game? No way, that never happens.
  3. The Count not looking too good. 3 Walks, 2 H, 2 ER in 1st inning.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) Someone got on base somehow, I really didn't see. Aaron Cunningham hits into a fielders choice. Pablo scolds one up the middle by Tulow makes a great diving catch robbing him of a singe. Cunningham steals second, Ianetta throws the ball into CF, Cunningham to 2B. Good jump and acceleration from Cunningham. Gonzalez had walked.
  5. Matthews talks a little about it here: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 05:56 PM) At least it can only go upwards from here right? Yeah, it can't get much worse either.
  7. Woo Hoo can't wait to watch the game!! Only 12 players remain from the 2005 Playoff Roster. Today's Game Day Press Pass: http://presspass.mlb.com/pp_viewer.asp?d=31985
  8. QUOTE(StatManDu @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 08:24 AM) In doing that digging, I was also alarmed at how well he did against the Sox and didn't have anywhere those kind of numbers against any other team. That begs the question: How is he going to fare now that he doesn't have Sox pitching to face anymore? The Sox will only play him against ex-Sox pitchers, at home, before the ASB, as leadoff, playing LF.

Those standings don't seem that bad, except for the Sox. They probably did all their predictions, then had to make the numbers add up and gave the Sox the remaining Wins and Losses. If they do a white flag sale, I wonder if they will move Crede or one of the others in their last year (Dye / Gooch). They just need to hang on to the table-setter because he will definitely rebound.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) Nothing I read sounded better than BA going 2/2. He can make such a huge difference to this team just by earning a starting spot and holding onto it all year. He batted .309 last spring, and had the 2nd most ABs to Konerko. So hopefully he can translate a good ST this year into a good season.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 09:36 AM) Coop must not have sprinkled his magic fairy dust on him yet. Looking at the Reifert blog, our hitters were kicking the crap out of the pitching. Which is probably what you would expect this early in Spring training. Actually I thought it was supposed to be the other way around.

It was Sierra or Contreras, they were the only ones to give up 3 or more ER. Some others: Uribe was 2-2 with a double and run scored Gooch went 2-2 with two RBI Anderson had two hits
  13. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 05:56 AM) Tried the S-video this past weekend. TV and Laptop both had the S-Video hook up, my DVR was already plugged into my TV using S-Video. I simply unplugged it from the back of the DVR and into the laptop. Watched a few episodes of Entourage in Windows Media Player and it was great quality. Anyone know how I can run the sound from the laptop through the TV as well? Also for those who are worried about the speed on the premium package for MLB.tv, there is a bandwidth test you can perform on your connection and it will recommend the best package for you. I think you only need 700K of bandwidth for the premium and mine checked out at like 2500 K or something so I'm thinking I should be golden. If you want to check your bandwidth, go here http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/mlbtv.jsp and then under the product demo on the screen click on the link that says check your bandwidth. Normally your laptop will only have a 3.5mm Stereo jack used for headphones. You should be able to just buy a cheap adapter that converts that to RCA audio (the red and white jacks on the tv). Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009JFF7K/ On a desktop you may have output ports on your sound card or motherboard that can plug directly into a TV, but you would have to know what ports are back there.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) Yes all top highlights, condensed games ant top highlights are available for all 2005 games. Sweet thanks, getting premium tomorrow. Can't wait.
  15. Kalapse Do they still have the 2005 season game highlights available for each game? Right now I can still view the little highlight clips from 2006 (w/o mlb.tv) and was wondering if those type of highlights were available for 2005?
  16. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 08:43 AM) So if the leadoff hitter gets a hit or steals a base the Sox probably win. Maybe its time for KW to find someone who does it more often. Its amazing that a guy who hardly drives in any runs, and in 2005, when he was supposedly driving pitchers crazy with his basestealing, making them lose all concentration, finished in 31st place in the AL in runs scored, and last year with one of the best offenses in team history, with Dye, Konerko and Thome behind him, finished in a tie for 33rd place in the AL in runs scored. Add to all this his difficulty moving runners over, and you have one of the most overrated players in White Sox history, save for October 24, 2005. Holy crap that is bad. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 08:03 AM) It's not necessarily Podsednik himself but when the White Sox have a semi-capable leadoff hitter, no matter the name they tend to play better. You can pretty much say this for most winning teams no matter who their leadoff hitter is as long as they're getting on base. I could only imagine how productive this lineup could be if they had a leadoff hitter with a .360+ OBP. It could be anyone, but it is amazing how there is such a disparity between Pods and Gooch. If your theory was the case, you would think those two would have a similar effect on the rest of the team, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. It would be interesting to see the impact of other leadoff hitters in the league with the same stat.
  17. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 06:51 AM) Saw this on a FoxSports Team Report; Does he really make THAT much of an impact for this team when he's playing well do you think? The Sox were 24-6 when Pods stole a base in 2006. The Sox were also 48-17 when Pods scored a run in 2006. So there is definitely a lot of supporting evidence. In comparison, the Sox were 56-41 when Gooch got a hit. So it is not necessarily related to the batting order.
  18. Looks sweet. What kind of filter was used?
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 23, 2007 -> 07:51 PM) How's this... What kind of filter or overlay did you use? That looks sweet.
  20. He batted .263 from June 11th to the end of the season. So there is no reason why he couldn't improve on that number for the entire season this year. I figure with one solid year under his belt and the assistance from hitters like Thome, Konerko, and Dye - he should improve to something around .270-.275.
  21. QUOTE(joeynach @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 05:31 PM) Um by the way did anyone notice the fact that he has Contreras birthday listed as 12/6/51. First of all I dont know where you got that birthday from I thought Contreras' real age was a sort of mystery. Second of all that would make him 56 years old, I dont think that can be right at all. I mean hes old, but hes not that old and still playing. I think it was more of a joke by Kalapse. He replaced 1971 with 1951. He is listed as 35.
  22. There is no way that is realistic, Pods would be tagged out there by at least two steps.
  23. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 08:08 PM) wins are overrated, and teams have only ever held on to him for one year He played 6 seasons for Montreal. Also, he was traded by the Yankees for Randy Johnson, a pretty good trade - then traded for El Duque, Viz, and Chris Young. Another good trade.
