  1. QUOTE(Soxy @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 02:04 PM) Well, they didn't have much of a choice--they weren't even using clomid (or however you spell it) or doing IVF. Just (un)luck of the draw. Seriously. I like kids, but I cannot imagine having three newborns. I have heard so many horror stories about Clomid and it's emotional effects. Terrible stuff. What on earth do you even say to the parents of trips... "congrats!" or "good luck!" We have 3 little ones in the family now (an almost 1 year old, a 10 month old, and a 3 month old) and it's super stressful to babysit 2 of them and they are on different schedules!!
  2. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:18 PM) This ought to be interesting. /popcorn

    QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:03 PM) http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070812/wl_can..._cuba_widow_col I thought her healthcare was taken care of by the Cuban government. But yet she wants her money just so she can get medicine and pay her doctor. Hmmmm. That aside, why is her money being kept from her. Christ.. she's over 100 years old. Does the government have nothing better to do?

    QUOTE(Soxy @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 09:43 AM) I've enjoyed the episodes of Dexter I've seen a lot. Ditto. Weeds is pretty good. Their new series, Californication, is starting tonite (I think) and it looks good.
  5. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 10:13 AM) Who knows. I'm not all that interested in all the peripheral stuff anyways like who autographs, golf outings, and so on. I wanted to comment because I had to sit next to a few disappointed kids/parents after certain guys weren't available, 2 times. Regardless I doubt the White Sox include such clauses because Reinsdorf in particular insists on as much fan friendliness as possible. Good point.
  6. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 10:16 AM) air-brush Or she would wear a garter belt.
  7. QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 09:58 AM) Apparently. Yuk, yuk, yuk...
  8. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 09:56 AM) Some teams, players actually, have clauses in their contracts which allow them to skip "x" number of these types of obligations. There may also be the common sense factor, i.e. if a guy is getting treatment before the game or whatever, he may be excused. There could be all sorts of reasons, but I do know not all the guys are there signing for every Kid's Day. If they have a clause they they don't have to sign then they shouldn't be on the list to sign anyway. There are only 6 signing stations on kids day. I don't think the entire squad has ever been out there at once. And IIRC, 2 of them are usually for the manager and bp or bench coach.
  9. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 09:52 AM) I guess where I'm disagreeing is that "OZZIE SAID"... I'm not sure this was an OZZIE policy, but that's nitpicking. Or that the entire starting squad was excused... I would expect holy hell to break out at the park if that were to have happened.
  10. QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 09:50 AM) Yeah. You can pick up a sheet on the day of the game which tells you who's signing and where. A few times I noticed players that were supposed to be there weren't, evidently excused for whatever reason. No big deal. So this was something more along the lines of a last minute scratch?
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 09:26 AM) It is absolutely true. 2005 Kid's days from about August on, some players were exempt. If you say so. However Google and WS.Com have nothing, as well WSI search goes back that far and also has nothing. I find it hard to believe it wasn't talked about anywhere but here.
  12. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 09:15 AM) I don't think that's true... but maybe I don't remember right. I think you're right and it's not true.
  13. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 09:03 AM) and 1/2 this team thinks it's been the off season for 2 months now. cough *2 years* cough...
  14. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 09:05 AM) I defer to your opinion and admit myself mistaken. Nothing to be mistaken about. It's just something I think would come across if they didn't like it. If you get a chance hover around as most of them sign. They really do seem to get a kick out of the kids faces when they light up at seeing them. IMHO, AJ is not the norm on this one at all.
  15. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 08:33 AM) YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO. Did ya watch the marathon over the weekend? My neighbor wouldn't come out to the pool because of it..
  16. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 08:57 AM) Why would players hate doing something like that? From what I have read, many players on the Sox are avid golfers in the offseason Paul is a friggin' 4 hcp!!! And they don't appear to hate it from every event I've been at.
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 08:52 AM) I think the players hate doing a team golf thing like a couple weeks ago a lot more than they do singing for kids. Don't make excuses for A.J. here by saying a lot of players feel that way, I tend to agree with the "this quote doesn't surprise me" group. And as for Ozzie.....lol, as delusional as usual. It's their choice to do things like Field of Greens and considering Jon and Jenks were the only 2 active "big" name players there - and had a great time from what I saw & heard - if the others don't want to do something, they don't.
  18. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 08:48 AM) Oh, Kid's Day wasn't Sunday? Well, I still bet that most players hate Kid's Day and complain about it. Even if it WAS it still doesn't require them to be there any earlier. And respectfully I would bet against you on that one.
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 08:27 AM) Somehow, this doesn't surprise me... I'll just leave it at that. Ditto
  20. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) I imagine that almost all of them complain about that after a night game and having to get out on the field earlier. I doubt it was some, "f***ing kids!!1111111111111" type of diatribe. They don't get out there any earlier. It's after their regular scheduled BP. It's the visiting team that gets screwed because their BP is cut short to accomidate. And too f***ing bad. It's 15 minutes of their day, and it's not like they do anything other than sign anyway.
  21. QUOTE(Soxy @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 02:10 PM) Babies are expensive. You'd think their clothes would be cheap because they're small, but not true. And diapers. One of my friends recently had triplets (!). And, honestly, I can't imagine how they afford diapers and food much less clothes. Oh. My. God. THREE kids at once... there is no way I could do that. None. You're friend is a saint!
  22. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 01:38 PM) That was the one I was originally thinking of. I'm not the one planning it, but the guy who is has never done it before. we're getting two topless waitresses for $75 an hour each, but I don't know what they'll do nor do I know anything about the music. So I'm taking the safe route by bringing my Ipod and looking for another stripper that isn't advertised as "topless waitress." The waitresses aren't going to be doing any dancing.. If you want a dancer, hire a dancer. IMO, fire the waitresses and hire a waiter and 2 dancers - ones that work "together" (if you know what I mean) are extermely popular these days.
  23. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 01:30 PM) Joe Cocker also sang a version. He did the 9 1/2 weeks version, right? I actually like that one better than the Tom Jones one. Especially having seen Jones sing it live...
  24. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 01:06 PM) No, I got it... so now you're the slow one. I hope you melt.
  25. I'm sure someone will bring this up so I'll just out myself first.. Last year when I was invited to a baby shower the mom had registered for a $150 stroller and I, in a real nice way , called her insane. Well... since it's my turn to be registering for baby crap I now see that that's just about the MIDDLE of the road price for a stroller. Holy expensive this is going to be. Boys... be sure you are stocked up on Trojan's.
