  1. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) ARod. Seriously. They've got to make a major run at him or they're a fraudulent organization. They have been there, and done that. Seriously. I feel like some of you have been living under rocks the past 6 years.
  2. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 12:38 PM) In case you haven't read it, this is from Rolling Stone: Good grief. EVH is a grade A asshole.
  3. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 11:38 AM) He should never play professional baseball again.. ^^
  4. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 10:50 AM) I didn't say that was a good thing, but don't you think that in the back of his mind that bat incident won't pop up every time he tries to hit a batter? Especially if he hit Jose on purpose, thnking he would get him back for hitting the home run. Every time he hits a batter, and that batter takes a step towards the plate, i bet he pees his pants. Especially if the batter hasn't dropped the bat yet. I didn't mean to imply you thought it was a "good" thing. From my end I don't see the justification of his actions for something that - whether right or wrong - has been part of baseball for ever. If it happens again I would guess he would think "come on and assult me... hope you enjoy your few hours at the police station". To be honest, I wish this would have happened to Roger when he threw the bat a few years ago.
  5. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 10:24 AM) You want to see a kick ass routine(not pitcher realted, but some intense s***)... check out Urlacher's offseason workout. He's a machine, that's for sure. It's just too bad that his son suffers from his dedication.
  6. Apparently Perez and TMZ got the goods on the ring Spencer bought Heidi and turns out it's a big fat piece of costume jewelry. Both places are conflicted on the price, but the claim is that it sells somewhere between $500 and $1500. No wonder he tore up the receipt..
  7. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 09:45 AM) I'll bet Beech thinks twice before hitting another batter again. You are kidding, right?
  8. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 08:45 AM) Finally, just because Buehrle said Kenny is going to go after big names doesn't mean he's going to get them. And before you start bashing me for that, any GM can say that...all you have to do is make an offer. I can't imagine anyone will bash you since the overall thought when those comments hit the press was that it was Kenny's bulls*** way of appeasing Mark.
  9. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 09:32 AM) I do...I think they cringe every time they hear his name. I understand what both of you are saying, but I think they would like to minimize the Boras contact, even with Rich Hahn doing most of the communicating with the Boras camp. I think dealing with him once is tolerable, twice is doable for the greater good, but 3+ is probably pushing it. UNLESS, they are trying to change their ways. Their way for the past 6+ years has been to not worry about dealing with Boras until it becomes an issue. I suspect they will continue that path as you suggest. Which means they don't care about 5 years from now today.
  10. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 09:03 AM) But, do you think they would have Crede (if resigned), Danks AND Abreu? I'm just not sure about that. And I think that Danks was a power play to get Jordan in the fold again (hopefully, if he's available when the Sox draft). If, and this is a BIG IF, Danks and Abreu are breakout stars, you think the Sox are going to want to deal with them going to FA in 5 years? I don't. You think the Sox plan 5 years in advance? I don't. And based on their history with Crede, it appears Boras isn't an issue for them in the early years.
  11. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 08:29 AM) I am all for BP trying to make a profit like any other company. But the Clean Water Act is there for a reason - specifically, that some things (our basic health needs) need to take precedence over profit, from a national perspective. It would be NICE if BP was more green, but its not required of them. That is why we have regulations like this in a market economy - because the drive for profit runs counter to the common good in this instance. I put the responsibility here almost entirely with the EPA and the state of Indiana, for chosing to endanger people's health (and the environment) in order for a little financial gain. But that said, I can't boycott the EPA or the state of Indiana. So that seems like maybe a good idea. I am considering doing that to BP. Just one note, to those considering it: its only effective if they know its happening. That means that if you do it on your own... write them a letter as well. If they get enough letters, and/or if some large scale media-covered boycott occurs, then they might take action. There's been a group at the BP on the corner of 59 and Caton Farm Road for weeks handing out info on the dumping and also a list of names, numbers, and addresses to write and call to complain. In the biggest "stand up" move I've seen in a long time, the owners of the station are very nice to them and give them free ice for their coolers, let them use the restrooms, etc.
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 03:15 PM) I have no idea if that is what was reported this morning, I just know those are Vick's choices. And I can't put into words how dumb he'd have to be to not plea, he will literally save himself years of jail time by pleaing out. I heard a quote by his attny (sic) "this offer does not change the way we plan to defend the case..." So if he's true to his word, then they fight. And I do believe he is that stupid. He's a cocky sports "superstar". They are invincible don't ya know.
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) He has until Friday no matter what, because if he doesn't plea by then all accounts indicate a superseding indictment will be filed and he'll face at least 2 more federal dogfighting charges and be screwed even worse than he is now. That's the same thing as reported this morning, correct? I hope he doesn't deal and tries to fight it. I'm looking forward to seeing him cry when he's told he'll be spending some significant time behind bars.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2972161 looks like they're talking to the Feds now Same thing where he has until Friday to make up his mind or is this something new?
  15. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) I have a somewhat inside source to the Indians and their players...... Cabrera is uncircumsized and his penis smells really bad. I'm not even kidding, i know someone who provided me with this knowledge. Porkchop got a job with the Indians..?

    Computer Help

The random restarting sounds like you might be about to blow some caps. Back-up your system completely if you can to an external drive and call the geek squad. And if that's what it is, start looking around for a new puter.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 10:51 AM) I have zero idea about that courthouse and the judges there, but I know in other counties, if you plead NG it goes to a more favorable judge, or they are just buying themselves more time and it's a procedural necessity By favorable do you mean one that doesn't care for this silly s*** clogging up his courtroom and will likely make it worse on him than if he just pleaded guilty? That's how they are in Will. If you ever have to go for something there, and it can somehow be resolved before you're infront of the judge, resolve it.
  18. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 01:03 PM) Seeing as Hagar the Tequilla Night Club King can now buy and sell the lot of them several times over, Maybe Michael Anthony was wise not to burn that bridge. I have no idea about DLR, but thanks to Valerie, Eddie is a gazzionaire. He is so lucky she stuck around with him or he would have surely blown his wad long ago.
  19. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 12:54 PM) No it doesn't seem like much time, and I'd bet they have not been rehearsing a whole lot so far. To hear David talk about it they are trying to make it sound like this is more than a one-off cash-grab reunion thing, but I think they are too volitile to keep it together for very long honestly. So what's the deal with Eddie's kid over Michael Anthony? Is there really an estrangement there, or is this merely a decision by Eddie? Huge estrangement there. MA got screwed because he continued his friendship with SH. EVH isn't even shy about saying so either. It's very sad.
  20. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 11:44 AM) I guess the VH1 news conference for Van Halen was last night and the tour kicks off next month. Obviously this is still not to be believed until the first note is struck. So, what do you think, have they just been laying low and rehearsing for the past few months, or are they just going to "wing it"? One month from now doesn't seem like a whole heck of a lot of time to launch this thing. They claim that have been rehearsing together for the past 4 months. I think that MA's voice - as small a contribution as it seemed - will be greatly missed. I also don't quite understand all the slobbering all over Wolfie when no one but his parents, uncle, and DLR have heard him play and sing. Should be interesting... IF they don't bust up before the NC concert.
  21. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 06:26 AM) My job offers 2 weeks paid leave. You bet your ass that I will be taking that when the time comes You can take more if you use vacation time, right?
  22. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 09:27 PM) Just wait Illinois residents. Theyre gonna start sending you tickets in the mail if your average speed between ipass tolls is over the limit. Theyve also been subpoenaing Ipass records in high profile divorce cases. They've been doing both for years. The latter for anyone that requests them - not just "high profile" folks.
  23. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) Has anybody ever had friends get mad at them for hanging out with somebody that the group of friends didn't like? It's really a s***ty situation and i'm really steamed. Oh that brings back memories.
  24. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) I can't help where my work sends me. Then it wasn't willingly, and you get a pass. I hate traveling to either one from mid July to late September.
  25. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) What is the deal with Texans? Are you from outer space or half lizard? My skin almost melted off as I dropped off my rental car at DFW. You went to Texas in August...? Willingly? If so, you're the crazy one.
