Kenny Williams not allowing teams to negotiate with Buehrle

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) Do you have any information on this Steff? Thankfully, no. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:55 PM) It will be interesting to see if all of these baseball juicers from the last decade start dropping dead in their 40s due to enlarged hearts, etc. More of them would go due to liver failure would be my guess.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:55 PM) Well lets see. You could say. You are wrong about your post. The reports are that no gun was used. I dont know where you saw that or if you saw that but its wrong. But its better to throw personal attacks, piss and venom. It's everywhere. Stop being an idiot.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) Steff, you're a wrestling fan? When I was a youngster and lived in Florida my dad used to drag me to see the 4 Horsemen every friggin week. Lex Lugar and Rick Flair were "uncles" It was strange back then. When I moved back to Illinois I lost interest since I was back on the Sox full time. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) Well its good to see the hormones are in full affect. Good day. I'll take raging hormones over stupidity anyday. You have a lovely day also.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) I saw a report that a gun was used. Doesnt matter how it happened, you dont kill people, and you dont kill your children. No s*** sherlock. But at least try not to make an ass of yourself by posting bulls***. And no you didn't see anything about a gun because from the start the reports have said "NO GUNSHOT OR STAB WOUNDS".

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:33 PM) If he shot his wife and kid, he is a piece of s*** and hope he rots in hell. How does a parent kill his kid. He kills his wife on Friday. Then the son was killed on Saturday. Then he kills himself on Sunday.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 01:57 PM) It's an evil act, for sure, and Benoit obviously had some serious issues, but I won't call him evil. Killing someone is near-unforgiveable and killing a child is as despicable as it gets. That doesn't necessarily mean he was an evil man. There are dozens of things that could've happened here. Fights, whatever. I do know I can't look at Benoit the same way anymore. I do know that I feel sick to my stomach. But that he's some sick, evil bastard? I can call him sick. I'm assuming you've got ot be a little sick and angry to do something like this, but you don't have to be a monster. I don't agree with it, but I can appreciate your opinion. For me when someone chooses to take the life of another they are an evil monster. Thankfully there won't be millions of $$'s wasted on a trial and a jail cell. for the rest of the family.

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 12:37 PM) Well, I guess that's what dreams are for. Something reading from your post in PHT you are quite familiar with. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) I can't believe somebody is arguing against the statement that somebody who kills their family and themself is evil, and compares it to the fact we are all capable of doing awful things, as well as saying people that do this are everywhere. My apologies for riding my high horse about a double murderer of his own family, I guess I do ask too much of people. Greg never said he wasn't evil. He simply said, and backed it up nicely, that you don't have to be a liar or actor to be a monster. People live hellish lives every day that others never know about until something like this happens. The guy seemed to play the part he was paid for in terms of his perception to the "fans. In that respect I guess he was a "actor", but you don't have as many people that have come forward talking about what a great man he was if he wasn't in some capasity. And I definitely don't think it's too much to ask not to kill your family - though I'm sure you were being facetious about that part.

I think I say this on behalf of most of the people here...

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 12:24 PM) Paris Hilton's father is the billionaire and I seriously doubt that he's a clueless idiot. But of course being born into or marrying into money works as well. Oh, he's an idiot also. It's the grampa that had the brain. -
QUOTE(Shadows @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 12:21 PM) That, just like everything else, is just speculation.. Everything has said its believed that he did such and such.. Like I said, I don't believe it till its all out "ATLANTA (AP) -- Pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room, a law enforcement official close to the investigation told The Associated Press Tuesday." I sure do believe the law enforcement official is not speculating with that statement. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 12:23 PM) I was watching baseballchannel.tv this morning and they got on the subject of this with a reporter and he said that people have roid rage that goes to extremes. It is possible that is what happened. He just snapped. I won't be surprised if that is what comes out when the autopsies and toxicology reports are public. "Authorities also said they are investigating whether steroids may have been a factor in the deaths.." Very sad.

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 11:15 AM) The Konerko and Mark situations are completely different. The Sox were willing to go long term with Paulie. He didn't give up huge money to sign with the Sox. Why don't some people get this ? The Sox will go only 3 years with a pitcher. Mark wants atleast 5- as he should. The Sox won't give it because it is too risky for a pitcher due to arm injury. Mark, and other pitchers, want the long term deal for the same reason. Last year, Zito got a 7 year deal. Mark will easily get offers for 5 years and probably some for 6. Can everyone see the difference between 3 years and 5 or 6 ? Which would you choose if you were Mark ? A 3 year $ 40mil. deal (which is MORE than the Sox have offered) or a 5 year $ 75 mil deal ? Let's see that's only a difference of $ 35 friggin million ! So Ken & Jerry have confirmed to you that they are definitely not going more than 3 years in an offer to Mark? -

Because he want's the Sox to have the opportunity to offer first. Sounds fine to me. -
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 07:44 PM) That and a time machine to 1997, right? Ugh.. add Thome to that Thomas, Belle combo and we would have scored 2000 runs.
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 06:51 PM) Maybe if you woulda stockpiled a few months ago, there'd be two expensive little things avoided... LMAO... I'm fine with the other. This one was un-avoidable. I guess this line of '06 run flats had a production defect.
-
Ugh.. why are tires so expensive? Thankfully there was a defect and BMW paid for half, but good grief. I could have went away for a long weekend on what I dished out today on rubber.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 06:22 PM) Either this has been elsewhere and I never saw it, or this is the first time you're making this known-- CONGRATS STEFF! Eh... you're just too wrapped up in the messy baseball. Thanks for the congrats!

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 06:06 PM) I think I read somewhere where it is the officer's decision as to what test be given. Maybe he thought Tank had been hitting the ganja. That's appears to be the front running rumor. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) I had no idea. Congratulations! ( Thanks Milkman. I'll have some Rootbeer.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 06:19 PM) That's surprising, since baseball contracts are not only larger, but guaranteed. Boras could only theoretically take a cut of the guaranteed signing bonus and first year of a NFL player's contract, no? I could definitely be wrong, but I thought with his football clients he got an upfront cut of the total contract and if the player got screwed, the player got screwed. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 06:19 PM) I'm not sure. I always thought Boras was just involved with baseball, but I'm not positive about that. I know Lee Steinman is/was the super agent in football (but Rosenhaus has kind of came in and stolen some of his thunder). I think Drew and Scott were partners at some point. I know around '97 Scott was a big player in football. Whether it was his agency or him specifically he still would have made some serious bank, no? QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 06:20 PM) Boras was looking to get into football about 5 or 6 years ago, but I don't think he ever did. Salary caps and lack of quarantees would probably drive him crazy. Back into it?
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 06:15 PM) Does he represent the football players or is it his agency that does that? Is that not where he made his mega millions before he blew ARod and got Hicks to give up the farm?
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 05:20 PM) However, I have no problem with them passing on Boras players if they are going to ask for ridiculous money, that said you should still call him up and talk to him about what it would take to sign his client if they drafted him (cause it could very well be a more than fair deal). And to be honest, I hope other teams follow suite. It's about stopping Boras from demanding outrageous amounts of $ for unproven ML talent. If everyone tells him to kiss their asses, either he'll stop making insane demands for MLB players, or they won't hire him. He makes way more off football players anyway. I wish he would stick to them full time.

It does!! I've been dealing with this since February and it's getting worse and of course no one can tell me why nor can they find a remidy. No drugs due to being pregnant, and I'm scared as it progresses what other issues/problems may come up. Thanks Yoss. It gives me some more questions to ask. Take care - Steff

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 04:23 PM) At least the baby in the oven will keep you a bit warmer. God was it cold that day....but what an amazing night (Jim walking out of the bathroom as we are going nuts over PK's grand slam....Pods walk off...wow). Sniff, sniff... memories.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 04:19 PM) I think you have to take the over since we're currently sitting at about 70 right now. I was just going to count Monday to Friday... if it's overall I think the mark should be set near 150.
