QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 03:39 PM) I truly hope Juan swings at three bad pitches to show what a s***ty hitter he is. He is not a starting shortstop and his plays at short recently have confirmed that. Wow.

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 03:12 PM) Just when we all thought leaving JG in was a good idea, he gives up a lead-off single. Good job by Owens to get it back in and only hold Boone to a single. Jenks is warming up! Alleujiah! Thank you for keeping the thread on track.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 11:28 AM) No, but I read there's a lot of controversy about some of the things the film maker did to make the film. From what I read, all he did was lie to the Golden Gate Bridge committee about the reasons he wanted to film. Have you heard something else?

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 11:52 AM) Tickets are on sale Ticketblaster? The Cubby Bear is all GA for shows like that so I don't understand why they have 2 ticket tiers.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 10:09 AM) Too bad they didn't do it after this weekend. Since my Sox have no hope in getting to the playoffs this year, my only joy would be booing Barrett Sunday. I was looking forward to a boxing match.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 08:40 AM) Thome got hurt when he played first base during the Phillies game. Didn't Ozzie say he would absolutely not play in the field this season? Thome has been hurt for (at least) three years...

QUOTE(Balance @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 04:24 PM) Early I can do. Gates open 90 minutes before game time, right? Yep. Be sure to enter at gate 2. That's the closest entrance to the bar.

This is why we have an illegal immigration problem.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 03:56 PM) I'd love to see an illegal who became a lawyer for free. I really would. So would I. I'm sure that would piss Jenks off even more. :rolleyes Now that I see you're going to take the smartass route you can play with the rest of the board. They will do a much better job of tearing you a new ass than I would on this topic anyway. -
It was $25 at the end of last season, and yes you can sit there the entire game.

QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 03:24 PM) I don't think Kenny is going anywhere anytime soon. And I don't think he has any intentions of having things change much from the way things have been the past few seasons. It's unfortunate that this team had to play like this for the last 30 games. But I have a feeling things will look a little differently after another 30 games. Even if he doesn't go anywhere, he's not the one signing the checks. Jerry took the heat before, he'll take it again.. and blame it on the fans for not coming out the the park in the end. I hope you're right on the improved performance on the field. A lot of adjustments need to be made before that happens. Let's hope they have the Craftsman's oiled up and ready to go... and are receptive to making the necessary changes.

QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) I agree with you that they can survive, but if you think KW wants to return to that nonsense you're wrong. I'm fairly certain KW has no illusions of overtaking the Cubs in this town anytime soon, but he sure as hell wants this organization to also be a powerhouse, perhaps similarly to the Mets. Winning the World Series was awesome for 05', but KW is smart enough to know that that championship was the first step in grabbing the hearts and wallets of a lot of young people in the Chicagoland area with money to spend. KW's plan was to build this organization up through that championship, not return to half-priced Mondays and Tuesdays. Kenny likely wont be around for those days so again I really don't think he cares. He's doing what he's got the funds and the permission to do. And mark my words, once he's gone he'll have some s*** to talk about the Sox like those before him who have been banished from the Southside.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 02:19 PM) This argument is making me sick. Immigration is what made this country great. Illegal immigration will cripple this country. Go ahead, get in a car accident with an illegal immigrant. I bet most of you know someone or had it happen to you. How did that work out? Yep, they had no license, no insurance and suddenly "not live there" when their court date came up. Probably changed names and social security numbers while your insurance goes up. A van full of the little bastards cut Jim off 3 years ago and because Jim hit them it was his fault, despite NINE witness accounts. Just under $20K and 8 months later they were out of our lives. -
QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 01:48 PM) You have to remember that the White Sox fanbase is a lot wider than the smart ones on this board. We, for the most part are good, smart BASEBALL fans. But, KW has to think about the damage to PR. If they are playing well, getting back to .500, why not make a run for it? The A's have lost a lot of talent to free agency and they just keep plugging away and winning. This team is built around pitching, so, to me, you trade Dye, you trade Iguchi and you trade Contreras, if you can. You KEEP young, durable, proven LH pitchers and build around him. I see Buehrle as a poor man's Glavine. He doesn't have any outstanding pitches, but he has good control. If he wants to, he can pitch into his 40's. I think I would want someone like that locked up for 5 of those years. No way. As I said earlier, the Sox survived with 10K fans there for several years and they'll do it again if need be. And while you might view Mark as the poor man's Glavin.. he aint. He wants his payday just like everyone else. And he'll get it.

Going to U.S. Cellular for the first time

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 01:24 PM) Anything in the city is going to be expensive for Sox stuff, but you will definately find the best selection at Grandstand, which is west of the ballpark on 35th street. personally I wouldn't recommend that you go to the taste on the 4th, that late in the day. It is going to be SOOO crowded. Like others have said, there will literally be one million people in Grant Park and the surrounding areas. it is miserable. However it's the last day so if he wants to go, it's then or not at all. Like I said, we have a ritual of staying in the city on the 3rd and going to the Taste the morning/early afternoon of the 4th and it's been ok. Don't get me wrong, it is crowded, but it's at least bearable up to around 4ish. -

QUOTE(Soxy @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 12:16 PM) Months, no, but I can listen to the same cd during my commute for weeks and weeks. . .And I've been known to listen to the same classical cd (over headphones of course) for a week at work. . . This girl has Barry in her CD player - so loud I am waking up singing Copacabana several times a week - and it's been there since at least mid March.
