That was definitely a terrible call. I didn't watch the game either, but damn, there's no reason that should have been called.

Embarrassing first half. Absolutely embarrassing. Again, it's a really, really good thing this game means absolutely nothing, because otherwise I'd be much more pissed off than I actually am.
-
This game sucks. At least it means nothing. What the f***, why is Travis f***ing Busch in? Jesus H Christ.. AND Kevin Payton? At the same time? You do realize Busch and Payton both suck and have no right being on a Big 10 team, right Tubby?

Hopefully they do this, as opposed to giving Owens a starting job. Swish would make a great leadoff man.

QUOTE(Jordan4life @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 07:03 PM) For the record, unless your name is Jordan4life (me, of course), Heads, Tony, Wite, Kalapse, Yasny, Dbaho and I believe I'm forgetting a couple other people, you are not allowed to jump on the Brian Anderson bandwagon. This entire board has killed him the last couple years. Only a select few supported him through thick and thin. Of course, It's only spring training. But I've got a strong feeling Brian is going to make a lot of folks eat that crow. After forgiving him for taking Rowand's spot, I've always supported BA. He got a bad rap during '06, and I defended him and his starting position for awhile.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 01:55 PM) You can still get a a urine test to find out if you are high Correct me if I'm wrong, but the results wouldn't come back quick enough for them to know. Plus, it would just say that you've been high in the past 30 days (or however long a urine test goes back), and wouldn't specify if you were high at the time of arrest.

QUOTE(Vance Law @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 07:45 PM) Like with Big Papi and Manny Ramirez and Varitek and Lowell and Youkilis. Youkilis is past his prime? He turns 29 in 5 days and has been in the league 4 seasons. (you're right about the others )

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 9, 2008 -> 10:20 PM) So do you win without your most valuable players? Like Bad News Bears? I never said that. You asked how many teams that traded their players with the most value won championships, and I answered you by pointing out the Marlins track record.

QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Mar 9, 2008 -> 06:46 PM) I'm guess I dont understand why Michigan is 9 compared to Illini. They have the same conference record and head to head they are tie dup 1-1. Off the top of my head Illini has the better overall record so that just makes no sense to me why Michigan has the 9 seed. Not that it matters or anything just curious how the tiebreaker was determined. link

Report: Brett Favre to retire

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 11:51 PM) I'm not saying he's the best one bit but Cy Young leads in wins and losses just like Brett Favre leads in TD's and INT's. I'm also not saying Cy Young is the best. That's for a different reason than Favre though. Cy Young threw for an average of 290 innings a year (over 22 years), and often pitched more than 300 innings a year, including multiple years with over 400 IP. Also, a QB has a lot more control over TDs and INTs than a pitcher has over wins and losses. Just saying. -
QUOTE(Disco72 @ Mar 9, 2008 -> 03:46 PM) Rebuilding has worked great for Baltimore, Tampa Bay, and Kansas City...three different strategies, same lack of success. None of those teams have really traded their highest value players while holding onto their lowest value players (unless you're talking about Miguel Tejada being traded when his value was probably the lowest possible, barring a suspension due to 'roids) I also don't disagree that the ownership in Baltimore is absolutely terrible, but Tampa Bay and KC are pretty well stocked for the upcoming years. I'm also not saying that Florida's plan is the best plan for everyone, but you can't deny their results. 2 World Series rings in 14 years of existence? Not going to get much better than that.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 9, 2008 -> 10:15 AM) I wonder what happens when a team trades all of their highest value players and keeps their lowest value players. How many have won championships? The Marlins have done pretty well in their history, all things considered.

QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) I do believe after their win last night that Ohio State should get in however. One win doesn't make a season, and doesn't make Ohio State worthy of getting in. Lets see them make some noise in the BTT, then I'll consider them more realistically. But winning 1 of 6 (depending on the MSU game) down the stretch isn't nearly enough to convince me that they're a tournament bound team, even if that one game was against Purdue. QUOTE(JuiceCruz16 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 09:51 AM) Minnesota has zero chance unless they win the big 11 tournament. I don't get your logic here, but imagine a scenario where they beat Indiana and Illinois this week, then beat Michigan State in the first round of the BTT. In that dream world, I'd say the Gophers would get in, especially with how much the tournament selection committee loves teams ending strong. Here's a blog post that looks at this same scenario.
-
Unless we beat Indiana and Illinois this week, both on the road, and then pull off an upset against MSU in the BTT, we're out. And if the Big Ten has 6 teams in the tournament (such as the post before mine suggests), something is seriously wrong.
-
I'll root for whoever is going to be making the tournament anyway. No upsets please.

Marty Booker, Brandon Lloyd sign with Bears

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 10:05 PM) The Bears still need a speedy, gamebreaking wideout, and no I don't think Hester can develop into that guy. I agree. He's never struck me as the most intelligent player (or person), and it really helps to know what you're doing when running your routes. -

QUOTE(JuiceCruz16 @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 11:47 AM) Kenny Hall commits to Tennesee after the Kentucky game. Nice commit for Pearl, I know Duke coverted him big time. Coverted? Sorry, I just like funny misspellings. -
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 09:40 PM) Some poster continuously replied to posts asking people if they were seriesly (seriously) series (serious). And from the looks of it, it was no accident. It was a great thread.

QUOTE(striker62704 @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 03:32 PM) No. Where does he fit in the lineup? Putting him in CF means Swisher is probably the leadoff man. And that doesn't make much sense since he's a run producer. Plus I think everyone is sick of his mouth. I know I am. Swisher would make a pretty good leadoff hitter, and the Sox should seriously think about putting him there. (I'd elaborate, but this has been mentioned in other threads by people with much more convincing arguments than mine) Oh, and I'd definitely agree that BA has power, and is a better option at 4th outfielder than Owens. Still, it's unlikely that he'll actually get that job, since Owens seems to be a favorite of both KW & Ozzie.
