QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 11:24 AM) his ideas are interesting. the problem is no one took him seriously because he would go off the wall when asked a question and his supporters are BEYOND annoying. You mean to tell me he isn't like Jesus after all? Well s***, I don't know what to do with myself now.. Ron Paul is, and always was, useless. My roommate is a Ron Paul supporter, and I've found that I just can't talk politics at all with him. It's a waste of time and breath.

QUOTE(juddling @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 03:21 PM) I've enjoyed Nip/Tuck this season so far as well...but i think i could do without Sean's murdering Hollywood agent. Gee....another crazy person......what a shock This season has been good, but it peaked in the episode with the aliens and the meth lab. I definitely don't like the Hollywood agent storyline either... hopefully it'll be coming to a close after this weeks episode.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 03:25 PM) I am also impressed with minnys class, to out recruit ill is impressive. I wouldn't put them in the top 20 though, for total points yes, but for overall rank and quality, I would have them slightly outside the top 20. Scout puts emphasis on total numbers which hurts teams that have less schollies to give out. This is what moves up miami because they had 33 committs but only a 3.33 star avg. Great pull by minny though, in fact marqueis gray is going to give the big ten fits for the next 3 years at least, that kid is unreal. Yeah, in terms of quality, it's probably outside top 20 just off the fact that we didn't get a single 5-star recruit. Still, this class is being touted as the best Minnesota recruiting class since Lou Holtz back in 1984 (which isn't saying much, but still..) I hope Gray gets redshirted next year to give him some time to get used to the system first. We've got so many options at QB (Adam Weber, Clint Brewster, David Pittman) that it'd be a shame to rush Gray into the starting job just to have him struggle. We aren't going to be competing near the top of the Big 10 next year anyway, so they might as well take their time with him. I do agree that he's going to be a VERY good QB for the Gophers in the upcoming years, and should be ready to lead us to the top of the Big 10 when TCF Bank Stadium opens in 2009 (yes, I'm being optimistic, but whatever.. I deserve it after putting up with our s*** team last year). -
I may have posted this before in this thread then not followed up on whether or not anyone replied, but surely I'm not the only person here who watches Nip/Tuck. It's trashy fun!

I've gotta be happy with what Brewster's done thus far with recruiting. Getting a top 20 ranked recruiting class (third in the big 10) after a 1-11 season is damn impressive, I can't wait to see what he can recruit to a program that's actually won a couple of games. Should be interesting to see whether he can get these guys to perform come Saturday's in the fall though, I'm not sold on his in-game coaching ability yet. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 12:14 PM) Locking him up would give us our second **** (woo). We got 7 4-stars (including Keanon Cooper, who was orally committed to Texas Tech last week but signed a LOI with the Gophers yesterday; gotta love recruiting...) -
QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 09:39 AM) batting average is a very important number for a hitter that plays half his games in arguably the best hitters park in baseball i'd say it's the most important offensive number given that he'll be playing in the cell most of the time I disagree with you, but even then, all of the numbers given in the first post were based off his time in Oakland, which was the 2nd least average friendly park last year (and 2nd least run friendly park).

QUOTE(StatManDu @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 02:37 AM) Swisher has been horrendous in June and July throughout his four-year career. In those months, he his hitting .227 (.228 in June and .228 in July). Sure, but that's just looking at average. He's also got a career .806 OPS in July, with a .227/.356/.450 line. Granted, he's been much worse in June, but looking at batting average doesn't give the whole picture, especially with a player like Swisher who excels at drawing walks and getting on-base. Good post, but you looked way too much at his average as opposed to other numbers which might give a better representation of his offensive ability.

We got rocked by Wisconsin today at home, really ugly game. Our seniors completely wet the bed, and we were just outplayed by a better team. *sigh* -

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 2, 2008 -> 12:22 PM) Would you cheer for Mich bball if you attended that school?? They suck right now. I cheered for our basketball last year when we went 9-22, and I cheered for our football this year when we were 1-11. So yes, I would. -

Got back from Michigan last night for our annual student section road trip, it was well worth the bus ride. We were louder than Michigan fans in their own stadium, despite having the nose bleed seats. Brian at MGoBlog: -

Good luck to him, hopefully he can get healthy and productive again. 2005 was a fantastic year and I'll never forget it.

QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 07:53 PM) If you don't beat Michigan, you suck. They are so bad. I don't disagree, but this is still a road game in the Big 10. They are never easy, especially for the Gophers (although Tubby's version of the Gophers is much more capable on the road than previous versions) -

I'm going to Michigan tomorrow night (really, Thursday morning, but we're leaving at 1 AM) for the Gophers' Thursday night game there. I can't wait, as I've never been to the campus before. It should be a blast, especially if we can actually win a game for a change Muck Fichigan! -
This is fantastic news

QUOTE(gbuk @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 08:53 PM) Ashley Judd is so overrated. I agree with you, especially when comparing to Erin Andrews. -
I would, but my facebook is set to private anyway so you couldn't see a thing anyway. If anyone actually wants to add me as a friend however, feel free to send me a PM

Aardsma Traded to Red Sox for 2 Minor Leaguers
Felix replied to WHITESOXRANDY's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 06:54 PM) I really like the deal... Sounds like this Mota guy has a live arm. 2 pitching prospects (even if they aren't great) for Aardsma is a very good deal. I never thought I'd live to see the day where you'd be applauding a move that KW made. I'm impressed. -

Aardsma was gone anyway, so getting anything, regardless of their talent, is better than getting nothing. -
Finally saw Juno... VERY good movie. From the trailers, I was worried that Michael Cera would be used too much in a witty way, but I was glad to see that he was more of a complimentary character to Ellen Page. I did think that they had one too many indie rock songs (not that it's a bad thing, they're good songs, but some diversity would be nice; I can tell you the point in the film that I thought this too ), but the use of the Kinks early on was enough to win over my heart.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 26, 2008 -> 09:43 AM) Or even an Owens/ Ozuna tandem depending on how healthy Quentin is. If you thought Mackowiak was bad in CF, just wait 'til we see Ozuna.
