QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 09:14 PM) He had 2 good outings in the playoffs last year, leave him alone you bully.

Thats absolutely hilarious.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 09:02 PM) You can. I sure as hell won't. We're not paying Garland 8 million to give up 1 run every inning pitched during starts. Thats for sure. We are giving him 7!

Only one stretch? I'm surprised.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) THOME IS OUT TONIGHT! Gload is in at 1B, Kong at DH. he is day to day with a tweaked groin Where did you hear this?

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 07:13 PM) If Ozzie is worried about Anderson and sees the need to platoon, so am I. You can't have a starting cf on a world title contender hit under .200. He and Uribe both hitting terribly hurts our team. You can't just leave them both in there and think 2 automatic outs won't cost us many games. It's platoon time for Anderson and Uribe is probably close to that, also. Hopefully our experience will pay off and we'll dominate in Aug and Sept. Anderson's defense saves the same amount of runs, if not more, as his offense costs the team. His defense is too valuable and he should be in the lineup, despite his putrid offensive performance.

Via Reifert: Pods, LF; Iguchi, 2B; Thome, DH; PK, 1B; Dye, RF; AJ, C; Crede, 3B; Uribe, SS; Anderson, CF. Garland Pitching.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) Save your time.... Either Ozzie appoints him, or he's on the 32nd man ballot. Then we'll get him in. There's no way he starts, don't bother. Does it hurt to try? -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) Thanks Mr Obvious, you're a lifesaver!

I think I'm a bigger fan of the first one, but I can't decide. Any opinions?

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 12:34 PM) So my question is, why is McCarthy still an untouchable? Let's look at the following: McCarthy does us no good right now coming out of the pen McCarthy might not be a capable staring pitcher for the Sox, both considering his own production and the possibility there is not spot in the starting rotation open for 2007 (all current starters are under contract for 2007) McCarthy is very highly regarded as a young pitcher Maybe I'm an idiot, but given these facts McCarthy appears to have a low value for the team for this season and next, assuming his poor play out of the bullpen (for whatever possible reason: no defined role, he's just a bad pitcher, etc.) continues. Considering these facts, wouldn't McCarthy be a valuable chip in landing a stud reliever or SS or CF? That's why I question if he is "untradeable" McCarthy will be in the starting rotation in 2007, and he's untouchable because he's one of the best young pitchers in the game. That's incredibly valuable in this day and age, especially since we have him under contract for awhile. He's not doing well now because he's not a reliever. He's a starter who isn't fit to be a reliever, yet he's being forced into that position this year. Trading him now, before he even got into the rotation fulltime, would be a joke, and an idiotic thing to do.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 10:34 AM) If you guys think we can get it done, I'll be glad to put in as many votes as I can. Dye definitely has the numbers to back it up. It can't hurt. He's more than deserving of the spot. I've sent in a bunch this morning

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 08:12 AM) I can play CF You'd likely be just as good as Pablo out there!

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:09 PM) I think you are right. I think he is the most underrated player in baseball. It would be nice to reacquire another underrated player, Rowand. How bout Garland and 2 s***ty prospects for Rowand. Or McCarthy and those same 2 s***ty prospects for Rowand? Why would we trade McCarthy? It doesn't make sense to do that, no matter how you look at it. Also, Garland has a no trade clause this year, and its highly unlikely he'd accept a trade out of Chicago, and if he did, it would likely only be to Anaheim.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) Did you see the way he cleared his hips and launched the ball into the left field stands? What a little b****. How about that Jim Thome fellow? He's doing pretty good!

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) How would people like trading for Soriano and sticking him in LF. You could trade Pods, Broadway and Fields for him. We would most likely be overpaying, but he could bat leadoff and provide 40/40 production. Realistically though, offense is not our problem and defense and pitching is, so its adding to a strength and making a weakness worse. That probably is not a good thing, but he would add some more spark to the team. We've scored 8 runs in today's game. I don't think scoring runs is the problem. -

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) At this pace, I think you mean 11 runs to tie/12 to win. No, we are down 3. So 3 to tie, 4 to win.
