QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 10:29 AM) I read that somewhere. Maybe a twitter post by cowley last night. Yep: "Some of the Sox players and front office staff will take a tour of the White House on Monday's off day."

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 10:36 AM) Tracking 2 of my favorite overhyped Twins OFs: Delmon Young: .200/.226/.300, 9 K's in 30 AB's (Only XBH was against Buehrle on a wall scraping home rune) Carlos Gomez: .125/.176/.219 9 K's in 32 AB's 2/1 SB/CS Delmon Young isn't really hyped at all. Pretty much everyone realizes that he sucks right now, and unless he makes some serious adjustments at the plate (i.e. not swinging blindly at the first pitch every AB), he's going to find himself out of a job and out of Minnesota fairly quickly. If he had any defense at all he might get some more leeway, but he's a terrible defensive player who has a horrible offensive approach. QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 10:32 PM) Gomez was hyped. I think everyone currently realizes he sucks. He currently sucks, yes, but he's got a bright future ahead of him if he can figure out how to hit the breaking ball and draw some walks. He's already one of the best defensive CFers in the majors (if not the best), and with his speed he's always a threat to steal once he gets on base. He's still young though, so it's really tough to tell where he'll end up. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 02:48 PM) I like the way that sounds better. It sounds better, sure, but Greinke is a better pitcher than Danks (and I love me some Danks). He's been fantastic lately, and the sky's the limit as far as his potential goes.

That and the fact that they have Denard Span, Carlos Gomez, and Michael Cuddyer already. I'm curious to see how long Delmon gets before he either gets benched of moved, but I suspect they won't trade him too quickly given how much they gave up to get him.
-
I don't really agree with him that he's one of the top pitcher in the majors since he's the 3rd best pitcher on this staff, but it's hard to deny that Gavin has been pretty good. Hopefully that dreadful start against Detroit was an aberration.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 11:09 AM) I dont know what a new start could do for him again. The guy is starting, its not like the Twins are holding him back or anything. He plays a decent to good defense, and was regarded as a really good hitter, I dont know why that wasnt in the Twins mold of young players. His defense is horrid and he's got terrible plate discipline. If he could learn how not to swing at breaking balls at his feet, he'd be much better off.

Fantastic day for the offense as it really took advantage of the wild pitching by Tampa. TCQ continues to be TCQ, and both Kong and Corkeroo had great days as well. Betemit and Fields.. not so much.

Hell, I strongly suggest Crank 2 to anyone who likes anything. Unless they are no fun, in which case they'd likely hate it.

Crank: High Voltage was an awesome movie. I strongly suggest it to anyone who enjoyed the original.

Corky always starts when I actually get to watch the Sox

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 18, 2009 -> 09:25 AM) Unlike, Swisher that's a sample size that's going to rapidly plummet. Fact: Willy Taveras sucks.

PNC and Baltimore were my two favorite places if you consider the environment and the ballparks. Both parks are absolutely beautiful and well worth watching any team at, the fact that I've seen the Sox at both just make them that much better. Minneapolis is absolutely horrid because of the HHH, but I imagine it'll be much more enjoyable to go to games here next year when Target Field opens up. Minneapolis is a great city, but if you're planning on coming up here, wait a year. Don't even bother going until the new park opens up. I've heard Miller Park is great, and I'll be heading there to see the Sox this summer so I'll be able to confirm it then.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 09:34 PM) I refuse to believe the Twins's pitching is this bad. They aren't this bad, but they've gotten off to a really bad start. They were missing Baker for the first time through the rotation, and they've had problems as a whole keeping the ball in the park. They've given up 16 HR already this season (1.6 HR/9), it's unlikely that it'll keep up. Once that gets cooled down a bit, they should be much better. I'd also note that I think some of the struggles for their pitching staff so far can be accredited to opposing teams. The Jays are just raking right now, it's hard to put all the blame on the Twins pitchers.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 09:30 PM) obviously still very early, but the twins have the worst run differential in the league right now (-22) and its gonna get worse once this 9-1 game vs. toronto ends... Their pitching has been terrible, and without Mauer their offense is really nothing special. They are going to be in a lot of trouble until Mauer gets back unless someone else (i.e. not Morneau) steps up for them.

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 11:31 AM) Like fathom said, that's the first time in 6 attemps Crede has been clutch. Stuck out late in a game two nights ago. Struck out against Jenks with the bases loaded, and also didn't come through in the 8th inning in another game against us. But it's the single moments that get burned into people's brains that make them form a solid opinion about something or someone. Look at Pods' 2005 Game 2 WS home run for example. Joe Crede has been terrible this year. I've watched a fair amount of Twins games (sadly enough), and he's been exactly what he was in Chicago. Solid defense, but a poor offensive player. Yeah, it's been a small sample size, but he's looked downright foolish in a fair number of his at-bats so far. Also: the Twins are being rocked right now thanks to some piss poor bullpen work. It took them four pitchers to get out of the seventh after Liriano went 6 IP, 2 R (1 ER). Breslow walked both batters he saw (and threw 2 WP) before getting pulled for R.A. Dickey, who gave up a grand slam on his first pitch. Dickey and Breslow combined for 0 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 3 BB with those two WP as the bullpen gave up 7 in the 7th.

14 hits and only 3 runs. That's kind of impressive. Looks like Danks had another good start, and it's nice to see Fields/AJ/Getz/Dye all have good days with the bats. Bobby really needs to settle down though.

This is absolutely fantastic news.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 10:46 PM) I can't stand them either, but I'm serious. It was either that or just mute my speakers (most of the time I just did the second one). Heh, yeah. I find myself watching the Twins a fair amount since I'm living in Minnesota and I just end up muting the TV, it's not worth listening to them. In Kevin Slowey's first start they compared him to Brad Radke, who they then compared to Greg Maddux. Then, of course, a comment was made about how Slowey was like Greg Maddux. I almost destroyed my TV.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 05:24 PM) ^^ I literally used to watch games in silence when it was Hawk and DJ sometimes. If we were playing the Twins, I had decided I'd rather listen to their announcers than to hear Hawk sucking off Carlos Gomez for 3 hours. Wow. I realize Hawk and DJ were painful (and Hawk still is) when we played the Twins, but I'd take them over Dick and Bert any day. I cannot stand those two idiots. Also, the little I've heard of Stoney so far has been awesome. It's good to listen to a game from someone that actually knows what they're talking about.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) i completely agree. BUT i wanna get that video... i'd LOVE to see that. hilarious I caught the strikeout on ESPN right after the Twins game. It was hilarious, and Gabe Kapler should be ashamed of himself.

Wise to DL with Separated Shoulder/Anderson to Start in CF
Felix replied to Jimmywins1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Good to see BA is finally going to get a shot to prove himself. Hopefully he takes advantage of it and we don't have to worry about CF for awhile, but, despite the fact that I love him, I doubt that happens. -
We should have never traded Swisher in the first place.
