  1. I know I'm late, but no one?
  2. Congrats kyyle. Hopefully this doesn't mean you're too cool to join us in chat
  3. His fastball reached 99 yesterday and his stuff looked pretty impressive. I didn't get to see too much of his start, but I saw bits and pieces and he looked pretty good. Still, he looked like he had a hell of a fastball.
  4. What has Pods done so far to deserve more AB?
  5. do do doooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
  6. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 6, 2009 -> 07:28 AM) winner!
  7. This isn't about who is better right now, it's about who is better for the future. We're a rebuilding team, get used to it.
  8. Our other options suck, but at least they aren't Contreras.
  9. QUOTE (Texsox @ May 2, 2009 -> 04:23 PM) I'm going with the future hall of famer You do realize this thread says best defensive CF, not most dreamy CF... right? I honestly have no idea how anyone can say Griffey was a better defensive CF than Swisher (or some of these other options, for that matter) unless they were blind or stuck in the mid/late 90's.
  10. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Apr 27, 2009 -> 01:02 PM) And fathom...I know you are a pessimist...but it wasn't a bad trade at the time. Give Marquez some time...he'll come around. JMHO. It was an awful trade at the time and continues to be horrible. The only way it can be considered good is if you look at it as a straight salary dump, as we got essentially nothing back for him.
  11. There is absolutely no reason BA should be benched, and I suspect that it won't happen. As dumb as Ozzie can be at times, I don't think he's that dumb.
  12. I love me some BA, but he's not an All-Star. He's definitely our CF though, which is just amazing and long overdue.
  13. Stoney completely called that grand slam, too. I love having him instead of DJ.
  14. f***. I think JO just bought himself some more time on the roster Great catch though. If he can do that consistently he'd be more than welcome on the roster.
  15. The apocalypse is here everyone, ready your bags!
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 06:38 PM) Anyone in chat besides you Felix? Bob Dylan.. it's lonely

  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 06:28 PM) Yeah that's basically what I was asking. These guys like CJ Henry and Lillibridge hit the s*** out of the ball their whole baseball lives then they completely suck once they sign pro contracts. The level of competition in high school and college is completely different than in the pros. It's not easy to project how a guy out of high school is going to look in 5 or 6 years. On the other hand, college grads are easier to project because they have so much experience and exposure, but even when they get to the minors they are seeing better competition than they've ever played against. Top prospects are projections, and are far from being guaranteed future studs. Any number of things could go wrong for them, whether it be a lack of adjustments to professional pitchers or something completely mental.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 06:24 PM) I'm talking about where he got drafted. Wasn't he a top pick? Lillibridge I mean. So you're asking why some prospects fail? That's a pretty easy answer. They don't develop like people projected them to and fail to adjust to major league pitching.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 06:23 PM) Owens sucks but at least he has the lefty vs. lefty excuse. Why can't a top prospect like Lillibridge hit the damn ball? His career (like Owens') is about over. Lillibridge is a top prospect? He *used* to be a top prospect, but by the time we traded for him his stock had fallen pretty far.
