QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) The confiction was that he was going to be there Tuesday. He is definitely NOT going to be there Tuesday. Not that I'm questioning your sources, but Ozzie refers to that they will be there for the ring ceremony on Tuesday, but in fact they will be in attendence on Sunday???

QUOTE(sti3 @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) curved bills are for fratboys maybe if you buy the hat at Abercrombie and Fitch Not everyone can aspire to look good with the CC Sabathia look.

I'm sure Grandstand will have them, that is, if they don't already. EDIT: Just called, they do indeed have them.
-
I think just for opening series.... and it should be that way, celebrate last year, move onto dominating the present.
-
Well, I can already chalk up spending at least $30.00 on Sunday. I think that is the most gorgeous hat Ive ever seen.

Holy Chit is that an old pic. THe Bullpen Bar doesnt even exist.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) Anderson is such a funny guy, his sense of humor will fit in perfectly with the Sox. AL ROY. B.A. Barracus

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 12:37 PM) I for one am hoping he gets traded to Florida. He could end up being the most perplexing player in the history of fantasy baseball. Can you imagine having to consider a CF'er who hits 185 with 30 homers and 30 steals? It'd be insane. I just want to see him get 600 at bats some place and it might not be Seattle where that happens but then it could be. Florida would be a good spot and the Pirates have wanted him for a long time although they have no place for him Interesting thought. I could see it though, only problem for Joe, the Marlins would be the only team where he would warrant a fantasy pickup.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) And if Pods goes on the DL, does that mean it'd be peanut butter jelly....err.... Jerry Owens time? I'm sure a parade would be scheduled here shortly afterwards.....

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 04:47 PM) Additionally, if they let him play in the minor league games, why wouldn't they come let him play in the big league games? Oh well. We'll see on Sunday. Well, Ozzie has said that he wants to see Pods play in a couple games before he deems him ready for the everyday line-up, so that part makes sense. I just don't see why you keep him back to play in the minors, why not bring him to Atlanta?? I'd say keeping him in Tuscon all but rules #22 out for Sunday.

QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) Its not that he wouldn't exactly be ready for opening night, its probably more about giving him the extra days since we are facing a strong lefty on Sunday night. I agree, I dont care who we are facing.... if Pods is in fact ready to go, he should be in our line-up in the #1 slot.

Colorado @ Chicago - 3/30 ST Game Thread

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) Considering Bobby doesn't exactly have a history of success in professional baseball, I find it hard to trust him. Didn't he say he would be at full speed by the beginning of the season? Keep in mind Bobby has only 6 more career saves in MLB than I do. He's not a veteran who knows how to get himself prepared for the season. This was a guy who started lifting heavy weights with no supervision this offseason and who's own manager says is fat. I would be willing to bet the White Sox keep a much closer eye on him next offseason. Couldn't agree more, what we do also know is....within those 6 saves, he hasnt had a history of failure either and if he did screw up, he came right back the next day and was nails. Considering this was proved under the most intenese spotlight is a cushion for some comfort. The questions are there, but considering how bad our closers have been to start the season over the past several years, they should be. His dominance is regained with his standing O, coming from the pen on Sunday night. -
QUOTE(Sox1422 @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) As a smoker, I will just miss being able to go up to the concourse, have a smoke, and still watch the game. If anything this is another step towards quitting. I just don't know what I am going to do in the 9th innings with the Sox up a run and Jenks on the mound. I will need to smoke for that. Couldn't agree more... back when we had Koch, I used to go through a half of pack. Not that Shingo's troubles were not any easier on the lungs.....chit, here's hoping Bobby gets his s*** straight.

WSCR to replay game 4 of World Series
watchtower41 replied to Al Lopez's Ghost's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm surprised that ESPN radio signed off on that replay, that is if they had a say....but it was their announcing crew damn espn and that moronotti show. Rooney should still be here, still our biggest offseason loss imo -
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 11:55 AM) True, but there's this new invention called High Definition Television, and believe it or not they broadcast sports games in Widescreen. Can you imagine that? Much better quality than the replays shown on Comcast though, I assume??

Rooney montage and Year and Review clips??
watchtower41 replied to watchtower41's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 11:38 AM) 1) Go to espnradio1000.com 2) Get over to the Silvy and Carm site 3) Scroll down and all three are on their main page much thanks -
This thread is a joke.... if we still had Borchard people would be whining for him to start over Pods. Or even better yet.... how about the phenom Jerry Owens??
-
A while back, someone posted links to all the highlight clips that espn radio ran after the WS victory. I think there was 3 seperate montages on there, the opening from Silvy and Carmen, the Rooney/Green Day montage, and the Sox Year in Review Radio Clip. If someone could re-post these or direct me where to get them, I would greatly appreciate it. I tried to save the link to make a cd for tailgates, but I seemed to have lost it. thanks

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) Anywho...I'm taking bets...which will we see more, pictures of Jenks with blondes this year, or pictures of AJ? Pablo Ozuna. Giggity.

And to think people wanted Borchard to start in CF for us this year over Anderson. Good riddance. He never had a good clubhouse or team attitude, and always put himself last when looking for excuses as to why he sucked. The Sox did hang onto him for way too long, mostly because of that ridicoulous 5 million signing bonus we gave him to leave Stanford. Remember, Seattle wanted Borch in the Freddy Garcia deal, we said no because of the money invested in that signing bonus. Not that we lost much in Reed at all, but certainly a better player than Borchard ever will be.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 11:04 PM) I follow recruiting too,but without seeing them in person or around the college game, we have no idea what you will get. Case example Lester the molester Earl was like the king of his recruiting class. True sign on Jayhawker Towers.... "If youre a girl, stay away from Lester Earl." Kenny Gregory and Lester Earl used to live down the hall from my apartment, so much potential, so little game. Ehh, at least they used to win a tourney game back then. -
There has been talk of terrorist activity for the last week and half surrounding the tournament. Gumble just reported that authoritites are clearing out the building and area until they get a firm grasp of what is in the package. Security is really lax for tournament events, so this doesnt surprise me, what does surprise me is that this has been known about for a couple weeks but yet, it didnt seem to hinder the scare. Call Bauer.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) I think I'd take Memphis to cover over Oral Roberts. Then again, this is not a game you'd want to bet on. Big spreads are just too hard to cover sometimes and anything can happen when Memphis takes out its starters with 5 minutes left and Oral Roberts lights it up in garbage time. I don't know, I don't consdier these "big spreads" Most of the time #1 vs #16 seed spead is in the mid 30s, Ive actually seen Duke favored by 57 as a #1 and cover it. I doubt anyone would bench their starting 5 in the tournament with 10-12 lead.

Major League Baseball 2K6 first look
watchtower41 replied to watchtower41's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 04:48 PM) still like MVP graphics.... they are more smooth. more smooth?? where did you see a video in this link?? Can't really how smooth graphics are unless you see them in motion. Saying a previous gen system has BETTER graphics is ignorance. There is no comparison, MVP couldnt dream of making a player model like this. -
http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/sports/maj...tml?sid=6145716 I know there used to be a thread on this, but it vanished or was deleted... there is some previews coming out for the one and only MLB baseball game worth a s*** on any game consoles this year. Make sure you check out some of the screenshots from the link.....unbelievable. MLB 2K6 promises to be outstanding, taking features that everyone loved from MVP and packaging them together with the features that have already worked for 2K baseball. This game will also include the World Baseball Classic. Perhaps the most innovative feature on this game looks to be the Inside Edge system.... from the story: The Inside Edge system provides the player with thorough scouting reports on any player or team found in the game--and these reports aren't just good reading material. When facing a scouted player or team, you will see immediate tangible benefits on the field. When pitching against a scouted batter, for example, your catcher might suggest pitches based on the batter's tendencies, or your defensive players will shift according to where the player likes to put the ball in play. Conversely, when facing a scouted pitcher, you'll get dynamic pitch statistics that show you percentiles on how often that pitcher throws certain pitches in his arsenal in any given situation. The downside to all this primo information is that it's going to cost you. For exhibition matches, you'll have a store of scouting points to spend (and better players will cost more to scout); in franchise mode, scouting costs come out of your overall budget. Sure, you can break the bank on scouting every team in the big leagues--just don't come crying to us when the only player you can afford to sign is John Rocker.
