  1. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) put Juan Uribe into Getty Images and you get like 40 of them you gotta have a membership right??
  2. Ahhhh my, Toemay bigga than godzeara. I plray AC/DC Brig Barlls to introduce monsta and I take picture, last longa.
  3. I did find this one off google, obviously way too small. I know they have larger versions out there for sale, I just have never seen any high res on the internet.
  4. If anyone has a nice hi res picture of the 2nd to last out, I would greatly appreciate that. I've been looking for awhile on various sites, and checked the sig picture thread as well to no avail. I saw 16x20s at Soxfest this weekend, but I'm not sure that Ive ever seen one on the internet. thanks
  5. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) Rally crede game hands down. We needed that one so bad. No question this was the best game of the season, Crede's walkoff did more than win a single game, it lifted a huge weight off the whole team's shoulders. If the Indians would have taken that game I believe they would have been within 1.5 games of overtaking us. Believe in magic, not magic numbers never held so true. I'd also like to nominate Timo's pinch hit against the Halos on Memorial Day as a top 5 game. There was no way possible that we were going to win that game... no way. Timo. Group 4, who knew?
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 03:16 PM) Come on, the green seats make it feel more like a ballpark. DO you remember when the damn OF walls were blue? The place looked like a steel mill. It looks better with more ballpark friendly colors and tones. With more brick, green, black, the place looks sharper. I think people complaining about them was moreso stemming from frustrations that the seats were not filled with fans. Now obviously, many of us could care less if there was 4 people or 40,000. But lets be honest, there has been a lot of coverage especially in the past few years since the All-Star game about our inconsistent attendance, I will agree that the stadium is looking sharper and sharper with each offseason gone by, this is the benefit we recieve from selling the naming rights to U.S. Cellular, and as nice as the changes are in efforts to make the ballpark a more inviting and natural experience is fine, I just don't feel the Sox had to go to such extremes to make people notice the park or better yet, compliment it. We didnt have to turn the park into Wrigley to get people to come out, and I think it may have took our success to realize that. KW and Jerry have always been under the mindset in the past that IF people come out to the park, then they will build a team, meanwhile while trying to create a family atmosphere so that people would come. Rennovations have been steady since 2002, but not until this past year when they built the team did people come out, now we are on a waiting list for season tickets. I know its digging deep, but it all has a play in the grand scheme of things.
  7. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 10:07 AM) This is a problem. Too many people want to compare us to the Cubs. Far too many White Sox fans do this too. How is it "Cubbie"? In fact, the Cubs have green seats. Isn't putting in green seats, far more "Cubbie." Agreed. We were one of the only teams in the league with blue seats, now because the park didnt get the media approval during the 2003 All-Star game, they felt it was time to get back to the copy-cat method and try to look like everyone else, esp Wrigley. That was evident with the ivy.... The blue seats were something that made the Cell unique with the new ballparks. I felt they looked great, but oh well, I guess we'll see how much darker it will get.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 05:59 PM) Maybe this will quiet some of the crap that Pods took in the second half now... That took some balls to play through. Carlos Lee fans will continue to criticize Pods, despite him being a better ball player in every asset besides power. People keep on pointing at getting thorwn out on the basepaths during our slump, ever hear of decoys?? The Sox obviously knew that Pods wasnt gonna be as effective, but continued to give him the green light because pitchers have to take account for him, most more than the hitter at the plate. If Scotty all of sudden stopped running, even though he was going through some tough injuries, the threat is gone and doesnt set up for Iguchi, Dye and Paulie. Ask Clement if he wasnt worried about Scotty in Game 1 of the ALDS.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) If Thome is Healthy...I expect him to put up very good numbers. Aside from last year, he put up very good, consistent numbers for the last 10 years or so. The only real question I have with him is health, and I'm hoping being a DH will be a good solution to that. If he's healthy, I'm fully expecting 40 HR, and if he doesn't hit that while healthy, I will probably be disappointed. I will say I was floored in how good of shape Thome looked when I met him on Friday. The guy was buldging out of his shirt like a pagan god or something, you could really tell in his face that he is feeling really good. I asked him how the cages are treating him, and he replied "Really great, my swing is right where I want it to be." To say that I was impressed is a severe understatement.
  10. I thought the weekend was great overall, and I could understand where people were coming from with the organization of the Fest, but these psycho parents need to realize that much of the blame should be directed towards the Hyatt and not the White Sox. Adults swearing at Sox personel in front of little kids because they couldnt get into a Neal Cotts line is very sad and not at all what this Fest is supposed to be about, unfortantely there were some clowns that made the experience just that much more difficult to fully enjoy. Fans are gonna want to meet there favorite players right after a championship, understandably so...the lines were competitive, only because the Hyatt sold so many extra tickets, this left many people clueless as to what was going on and where, once they did finally get in. Getting in was the biggest problem of the fest because the hyatt staff had no control whatsoever taking people through a wild scavenger musical chair hunt going in and out of ballrooms like you were waiting for the newest ride at Disney World. Once one got into the fest, it was all up to how dedicated and determined you were to get wristbands for autos or get into the seminars. Now granted, nobody could have ever imagined that there would be people camping out in line from 4am and earlier, and so is the effect of winning a championship. My buddy and I made out real well, got in for Thome and AJ on Friday, met BAnderson, BMac, Baines, Kittle and AJ again at the hotels bars afterwards. Saturday was an absolute zoo, by far the most crowded day.... getting to the hotel at 7:30am was not gonna guarentee an auto from the early sesssions, but I somehow managed a miracle to get into Ozzie's line, also got Crede, Anderson, Singleton and Minnie on Saturday. Sunday's line to get into the fest was the worst of the 3, but finished real well with getting Cotts and Konerko before almost passing out due to the 110 degree temperature that the Hyatt had the thermo at. Not a shabby haul for not staying at the hotel. Between all the waiting in lines and going back and forth for beer runs, I really have no complaints whatsoever toward the White Sox, the Hyatt on the other hand is a dump and it is very clear as to why they lost the contract for this event. By Sunday, the place looked like a Hurricane Katrina refuge. Time will tell if Palmer House will be better, even though it is smaller. Until then... OPENING DAY, I've never been so ready in my life.
  11. Forget about pissing off all of your true fans and supporters in Chicago and on your former team, but for a guy that sure likes to put himself first, he is really beginning to screw himself out of very important votes for the HoF. Ask Ron Santo on how curtious to voters are on whiners. Frank is one of the best hitters I ever got to witness, but also one of the biggest idiots this city has ever seen. It would have been too easy for him to just get up and leave without barking selfish words. I, for one am happy we won't ever have to deal with this again. It would have only been a matter of time before he puts up some hissy fit in Spring Training on how he never got the respect (money) that Konerko is getting. Frank is truly in denial because he didnt get the story book ending that he wanted for himself, and from a lot of reports that Ive been hearing, perhaps in financial trouble as well. I very much doubt there were very many takers, nobody knows what the incentives are, but $500,000 aint s*** and the Sox were the perfect team to take that out on.... I laugh at some of these comments... wanted to be on the playoff roster?? Note to Frank, your not ready now, how does that change 3 1/2 months ago??
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 09:33 AM) No, you can't bring them in. You must finish them before you enter. But you can drink in line while waiting. Timo will be in the bar after 9 tonight with JD. Look for the one doing all the shots of something called 41 (I think that's what it's called). LOl I bet Timo could hold his booze. Thanks for the info.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 08:13 PM) Don't bother unless you find something that can be folded up and put in a bag or backpack.. can't bring a cooler in to the fest. We'll just have to drink them before they get warm.. LOL. But you can brink drinks into the fest?? Not beer obviously, but pops and stuff to wait in line?? I have a cooler bookbag that I was gonna bring anyways... Have a fun weekend everyone, I hope to bump into some of y'all. I'll be the one looking for the Timo Perez line. I hope to get down there no later than 2:00 today.
  14. I'd rather have off the Thursday or Friday for the opening round of the NCAA tournament.
  15. AL Sleeper: Detroit- I think they are going to be a lot more competitive than people give them credit for, the addition of Rogers is key to an emerging young rotation. Obviously a healthy Magglio and Carlos Gullien can make a huge difference for their offense. I would not be surprised at all to see them finish 3rd or **gasp** even higher in the Central. They have always played division rivals well. Honorable Mention-Texas (still need to dump Soriono to get that elusive arm, we should offer Count and Borchard LOl) Bust: Toronto- Many people call this team a sleeper, witht the amount of money they spent in the offseason, they will be lucky to find themselves no better than what they have been the last decade... behind NY and Boston. Adding a Playboy's Kerry Wood does not a contender make. They are still a few players away imo. HM: NY Yankees (pitching SHOULD be better, but what is there to prove that?) NL Sleeper: Pittsburgh- Ok, I know this is a stretch, but instead of picking the flavor of the month with the Brewers, I'll take my chances with Steel City. If their pitching ever grows up ala Jon Garland, they would have a respectible combo of arms. Obviously they are miles away form actualyl contending for a pennant, but I strongly believe that they won't be a pushover doormat as they have been in recent years. Bay is will be a perinnal All-Star and a solid franchise guy to begin to lift this team from the cellar. HM-Philadelphia (at least they know less balls will drop in for hits in CF) Bust: NY Mets- Omar, Omar, Omar when will you ever learn?? The Mets are happy to be filling Shea Stadium again, its just a shame nobody knows what they are rooting for. David Wright is the exact player that we expected Crede to be when he broke into the starting line-up. Beltran should certainly have a better year, and I'm sure Delgado raised some eyebrows, but you still gotta keep the other team from scoring... there's only so much bleeding that Pedro can stop. HM- Washington (people still may not expect much, but they will improvement...something this team will not show)
  16. Its good to see Hurt land on his feet with another opportunity, meanwhile Scammy is still begging and pleading for anything more than a minor league contract. This move will definitely help the A's, and we should all be thankful that it was not the Twins. 8 games should be easy to endure, 18 on the other hand, ISH dont think so. to Frank on finishing out his Hall of Fame career. It seems like just yesterday when you came up with the Sox and immediately became the most feared hitter in the game. Good Luck, Frank... not looking too shabby in the green at least.
  17. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) Don't forget that the Q&A session is at the same time too. Thome is signing what 500? I'd say if your one of the first 1000 - 1500 people in line you'll be ok. Maybe even farther back. very true, what do u think they close the Opening Ceremonies off at 500?? 1000?? I'd expect the garage sale to be a hot spot when the fest first opens as well...
  18. He's missing Soxfest for this??? Blasphemy. It's Not Delivery, It's Bajenaru.
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) Yeah I have been in line at 3:30 in years past and missed out on the opening ceremonies. This year is only going to be worse. Agreed, thanks for the info. Friday just turned into a half-day at work. I would think the Opening Ceremonies are not something to miss this year.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) Hopefully no later than noon. Wow, no kidding??
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) Lines start forming as soon as people get up out of bed on the weekends. it depends on how good the early signers are as to how early you want to get up. I would definately recommend 2-3 hours before the opening of the line if it is a primo player. As for Friday the people who are in line for the Opening ceremonies become the first people who get through into the fest. Everyone else goes in after them. if you want Paul or Thomes auto on Friday get there as early as you can. Ok thanks.... so if I get there early enough on Friday to get into the Opening Ceremonies, one would think that pretty much assures getting in Thome's line? Ozzie's auto session is near the beginning of the day on Saturday, which is his only session. I'm pretty sure that line is gonna be like gangbusters on Saturday morning.
  22. compared to Jonathan Quinn, Orton is Dan Marino. Sexy Rexy on the other hand, is the most overrated player in this town not named Kerry Wood.
  23. What's a good time to get down there in line if you want to get in for the Opening Ceremonies??? Do they let everyone in at 4 to start wiating in auto lines even if you dont get into Opening Ceremonies?? It looks like unless you get in for the Opening Ceremonies (which they are very specific about limited space) then the rest of the fest opens at 4:45, but its kinda vauge. Also what time does a line start forming on Saturday morning??
  24. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 02:51 PM) They were at a huge advantage though because they knew full well that the Panthers couldn't run the ball. If their front 4 focused entirely on rushing the passer...because of the lack of any talent remaining at RB for the panthers, they were going to stop the run anyway, so they could focus all their energy on disrupting Delhomme. Stick Foster or even Goings in there and suddenly those linemen have to both be concerned about stopping the run and gettign to the QB, and since you wind up moving in different directions to do those 2 things, the job for a d-lineman becomes far more difficult. I agree with what you are saying here, and I kinda look at it as two-fold as well. I saw pretty much the same game plan out of Carolina this week that they used to expose the Bears. The Bears D was not completely effective against Foster because the Panthers came out throwing right away, forcing drop backs in coverage earlier and more often. When Goings took over for Foster, and the game was still somewhat in question, it got even worse because they were still too paranoid about Smith. Perhaps so paranoid, that it was too risky to change a gameplan that they worked 2 weeks on and obviously was working so very well. You'd think the Giants game film would have been more than enough evidence on what not to do to defend the Panthers. Shame on me for thinking the Giants were a much less talented team than the Bears.
