QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) Philly has problems if he get mad at him for wearing a Bears jersey. No, they'll probably just throw batteries at him during the game.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) Has anyone yet suggested that we now may actually have evidence of senility setting in on the part of Wilson and Levy? Just to stretch my memory, can someone remind me of where Jauron coached before he was with the Bears? Def coord for Jacksonville

I've always thought of the Panthers as a one dimensional team, and with simple adjustments throughout the course of the game, I saw Carolina as a better than average, very beatable team. The Seahawks finally proved this true yesterday, and as I watched that game, I couldn't help but to dwell even further on the Bears loss last week. I see no reason why Rivera or Lovie couldnt have come up with a similar plan to defend Smith, throw 2, 3, 4 guys on him, as they have no other threat on offense whatsoever. Now granted, I know the Bears had to deal with an effective Foster as opposed to Goings, ect. But even with that being known, it would not have made a difference. The Bears let Smith walk all over them in the first meeting, the 2nd was embarrasing. Even when it didn't pan out in the very beginning of the game, was there any adjustments made, or even better yet, thought of?? Ricky Proel is not gonna beat you. There is no justification for the Bears loss last week besides being completely unprepared, which matters for nothing right now because Seattle would have whipped us as well. Never would I have thought to see the day to actually agree with Joe Buck on something, but he could not have been more dead on when he was saying the Bears were too "confident and cocky" with their plan on how to defend Smith.

QUOTE(Confederate_48 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) I would love to see him hire John Shoop again. I could actually now watch those two work and not feel bad knowing its not my team they are ruining. speaking of which, did y'all hear that Shoop is a finalist for the Raiders head job. Al Davis' mind at this age is now to be considered armed and dangerous.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 09:03 AM) You could almost fly cheaper on southwest (which is what im doing) than drive up from KY by the time you pay parking at the hotel and gas. I was able to fly up for $95 round-trip. Louisville to Midway on Southwest is the best deal in airfare, I am convinced. Going down to the ville to visit my friend for a weekend is often cheaper than a weekend at Chicago bars. Sometimes when you can get a reservation in like 3-4 weeks in advance you can get each way for like $39.00, only an hour flight to boot, as opposed to the 5 1/2 hour drive. With only one week to book, you may have to pay a bit more, maybe upwards of $160-180, but with gas and the time, its still worth it.

Carmen and Silvy to get the Ax?

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 10:27 AM) not surprising. i kind of thought something would happen after the last arbitron's came out and the score made up so much ground. Not to mention the whole ordeal when they pissed the Chairman off when they interviewed him. "They conducted the interview under false pretenses" coming right from Jerry's mouth. Reinsdorf hasn't done an interview with ESPN 1000 since I believe, and along with Moronotti's show one would have to think these incidents at least contributed to losing the broadcast liscensing for the Sox and Bulls. -
The only thing I'm kinda surprised about is that he didnt throw Paulie a bone in the letter, as far as looking forward to playing with him or returing the praise that #14 dished out in his letter, mentioning that Thome had a great deal of weight in deciding to come back. At any rate, I'm glad that he is not taking the sit back approach and waiting to naturally become a part of the team and our chemistry. He is taking his own iniative to be a true White Sox team player right from the get go instead of trying to alienate himself for not being a part of the special year which triggered his arrival.

*********************************************************** Greetings from... Jim Thome *********************************************************** January 19, 2006 Dear White Sox Fans, Growing up in Illinois, it's a dream and a privilege to come back home and be a part of a great organization like the White Sox. To be a part of this now, after winning the World Series, is really an honor. To come to a team that is so close to home, and to play in front of my family and friends, is really exciting. Baseball is a great game because it brings people together, and my wife Andrea, our daughter Lila and I are really pleased to be here. This winter has been really crazy for us. Everything seemed to go so quickly, and the holidays flew by. But we're excited about moving here, and we're hoping to be able to call Chicago our permanent home. My offseason training has been great, though it's been a different kind of winter than I've had in the past. Because I was injured and didn't play during the second half of last year, my training has been really intense and regimented since August, as opposed to other years when I'd take a break after the season. I've worked out here at the ballpark a few times, and I've enjoyed meeting head trainer Herm Schneider and getting to know the front office a little bit. It's been a pleasure to realize that everyone is invested in making sure I'm healthy and ready to go for spring training. For my entire career I've been asked about my favorite road city, and I've always said that players should take any chance they have to play in Chicago, even as an opponent. To have the opportunity to play here for the next three years is a dream. Chicago is a passionate, hard-core, championship-hungry city, and I imagine that now the fans are more focused than ever. You add the success of the Bears this year and it's pretty awesome to be here. I think the Bears have the right tools in place to be a great team for many years to come! I've been blessed to have good people, starting with my wife, who help me understand what opportunities exist to be involved in the community. We signed up to be in Chicago for the long term, and we truly want to form a relationship with the people of Chicago. As an athlete and a role model, I want Chicagoans to know that we're trying to do just that - to help different causes, to make a difference at the end of the day, and above all to have fun and enjoy our time here. I've always known that to be successful, you have to know how to be part of a team first. It's not about me, it's about we - and that's as true in life as it is in sports. I understand the impact that athletes can have on people, and I've worked very hard to make sure I leave something meaningful behind. I grew up in Peoria, so I've always been involved in the community there. I'm excited to have the chance to do the same thing here in Chicago. Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward to seeing you at SoxFest, and of course to beating the Indians on Opening Day. Jim Thome

We have waited and waited and then we waited longer. This is the year when Joe Crede finally becomes a household name around national baseball circles, we know he has always had the talent, more in question was perhaps his focus and dedication. After seeing last year's stretch run, we finally saw the Joe Crede that we all used to compare as the next Ventura. Last year Joe started out on fire and quickly fizzled out once his timing was screwed by numerous days off early in the season. Distractions, including his back continued to linger in that last half of the season, yet Joe was focused enough this time to overcome such obstacles because he was relaxed and was having fun for once. Going down 0-2 in the count for Crede used to result in one of two things, the most common strike out or a infield fly out. Game 1 of the World Series Joe put an 0-2 pitch into right center field to give us the lead. Some will say he's just always been clutch, I say Joe Crede's egg has finally hatched. Asking for over .250 from Joe was asking an awful lot in the past, I feel he has approached his prime years ready to excel with the confidence that he gained late last season.

I havent seen them at any sporting good stores, but they are available through a number of different on-line sporting good retailers. A search through google brought up a number of options, I also saw a commercial on Comcast with these over the weekend, but its looks like theyre pretty much available everywhere on-line.

Wouldnt miss Soxfest this year for the world. This is my 3rd year as well, and I've always had a great time, this year obviously will be no different. Though I'm quite sure its gonna be crazy hectic in there all weekend. Here's hoping that Crede or Uribe gets added.

Didnt see on thread on these.... they look reals nice for those who are attending soxfest. Has the Sox logo and the score of each WS game, along with the WS logo and MLB trademarks from the actual game used balls.

Unfortunately, I'm thinking Randle El is gonna be too pricey with his recent play and the attribujtes he brings to an offense. I would not be surprised if he gets closer to Reggie Wayne numbers than people think.... the problem with that scenerio is the Bears way overpiad for a 2nd WR at best. Muhammad has to be considered as a big free agency bust at this point. I do think Bradley has the goods and it also seems Berrian is on his way. Do away with Cage, I'd rather still have Terrell. Bryant would be a nice chance, but I wouldnt even mind trying out a Rod Gardner or sombeody like that as well as improving through the draft. Forget about speed, we need somebody that can catch a friggin ball better than 1 out of 5.

No "its not delivery it's Bajenaru" is bs. I'm just happy to not see Steve Perry on there. One would think now Chris Singleton will get added to the list, but then again, Score may not be able to swing that xtra scratch for such an elite showcase.

Sox Hire Chris Singleton to Join Ed Farmer
watchtower41 replied to thedoctor's topic in Pale Hose Talk
the Score sucks. Not that any of us heard Singleton do color, but I'm sure he's not making much more than a happy meal. If they were gonna go the former player route, they obviously didnt really care wheter or not the player was a fan favorite or even a noteable. Sure, many Sox fans know of Singleton's time here, the trade to the O's, but color guy for a world championship team?? :headshake Thanks Score at least it wasnt North. :finger Screw ESPN too for having Moronotti on too long and losing the contract. -
I'll take the winter olympics any day over the summer games. I actually am looking forward to this coming up, I just always have a hard time nott spoiling the results before it comes on tv during primetime. Not a problem when they are here in the states, but overseas obviously there is a big tiem change. Would I want this to come to Chicago?? Hells no, much more of a problem than its worth. Didnt Greece loose a shiload of money??

I've actually been looking for any SNL Superfans mp3 for a few days...just audio, or video too. Anyone have one to post or a link?? A good version of Bear Down would be nice as well. Greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't hold your breath on a full or 2nd edition coming out. Hell, there was no guarantee that we would even get a box set like this at all, I'm extremely pumped that we at least get this. MLB and A&E only started doing boxsets like this 2 years ago. The Yankees and BoSox are the only other teams to have sucha boxset. The perks continue to roll in..... as it has been, feeling good to be king.

New Tejada News: O's reportedly make a proposal...
watchtower41 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) If I was the O's Prior would be of greater value to me than Contreras potential aside.... which probably could be considered a wash, Prior is much more valuable to Baltimore with his age and ability to fill a few more seats. That being said, Uribe is an obvious upgrade over Perez, and Sweeney instead of Patterson, one would think that more than makes up for what was lost in the deal with the Cubs. -
New Tejada News: O's reportedly make a proposal...

my assumption is we get money in this deal as well?? Give us a reliver and I say Players like Tejada don't grow on trees. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) Maybe that "extra motivation" is why the full house cubs do so well every year. I would bet it was our pitching that made us good, not the fairweather fans. Maybe if the people that went to those games actually cheered and paid attention it would make somewhat of a difference. I've heard louder libraries than Sox home Wed. games. Worrying about bathroom lines is the last thing I'm concerned about when I am going to a White Sox game. I wasn't forced to go when there was 10,000 and I am certainly not forced when there is 40,000.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) I was correct the first time, dolt. Where do you think the extra tickets came from? The pre-sale was last minute. And it was for CURRENT SEASON TICKET HOLDERS ONLY. What they choose to do with the tickets is their business, but they, me, as a season ticket holder did, and should, get first chance at extras. If some asshole ticket holders want to sell them to brokers that's NOT the Bears fault. Wow, I'm a dolt. SWEET. Real classy. LOl All I said was you were incorrect, which you were. Where does the extra tickets come from you ask?? Last time I checked, Soldier is not filled to capacity with season ticket holders, furthermore it was not a "last second" thing as you claim, we secured "our extras" a week and half ago. But then again, I'm wrong because you said the Bears handed the tickets out to the NFL sponsors blah blah blah. Who said it was the Bear's fault?? I think its smart move, it just contradicts the whole "we are trying to eliminate scalpers" joke. I know you feel like its your job to show up anybody and everybody you can on this board, but just because someone doenst agree with you or has***god forbid*** different information, makes them a "dolt"??? LOl Rough holidays??

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) Not me, I dont mind small crowds. Being a sox fan was never about popularity of the field or the team to me. There is a team on the northside for people who care about crowds. It's not just the people who care about the crowds, its the players, the team. The team dropped hints all over the place last year on how they were disappointed in not drawing attention and bigger crowds from the success they were having. I have never seen the Cell more energetic than what it was during the playoff run, its ignorance to not believe that helped the team gain momentum. I doubt there is one worhty player out there that would rather play in an empty house. Perhaps Delino Deshields in his hey dey?? How can a team gather motivation if there is nobody that cares... now obviously we all know this is not the case, but looking back on falling short the past few years during the stretch run with empty houses, I'll happily wait an extra 5 minutes at Beers of the World.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) Not only that, but they did a pre-sale for us to buy extras and that's where most of the ones that were declined went. The Bears should have made an announcement about that. Now you are correct. The Bears wouldnt make announcement about that just like the Sox would never make an announcement stating how few tickets were going to be available to the public with their Season Ticket playoff ticket "Guarantee", pretty much the same principals, scalping the legal way. Its good business for the organizations, but not for the fans. A good majority of season ticket holders will buy extras if given the chance soley to make profit and pay for the rest of the season.... scalpers still win in the end.
