I wouldn't waste a whole lot of time worrying about the other one.

White Sox coaching staff announced (List in first post)

It really smells like a position was created for a family friend to keep Tony happy. -
Good for us and the Twins.

La Russa arrested for DUI in Feb; charged day before hire

So he probably worked himself into some sort of a deferred dismissal plan. -

Nah, he could have been sincere and owned it. But Tony is a loud-mouthed coward and hypocrite. His standards only apply to everyone else. -
Sweet. That would be a big loss for them.

I almost can read between the lines to see that he didn't like the initial staff proposal and they made some changes to make it better. -

They COULD have done something like this at any point. There could have been some public statement or presser talking about what he has been doing to change his life or to make sure this wouldn't happen again. Instead this cowardly organization hid behind the legal process. The translation is they really don't care about what TLR has done, or what he might do in the future, otherwise they would have addressed it. -

I mean my hope is that I am 100% wrong and that Drunken Tony really was the best choice for the team. But I would put the odds of that around the same chances as us signing both Springer and Bauer. -

Nah, this is more like watching the inevitable death spiral of a team about to implode because the owner wanted his drunken buddy running the team instead of someone who fit the team. I don't think anyone is rooting for it, but it is really hard to be invested or excited when we can all see it coming. -

I sure don't think the timing is a coincidence. -

So this happens at the same time news of a TLR change in plea happens. Seems like the Sox know Tony's case is getting fixed, so that they feel comfortable announcing his coaching staff. Wonderful. -

That would be my guess. He probably put a deal together. -
Boy, haven't seen this trading chart before. Wake me when we get to the stage where the Sox never made an offer.

It is quite literally the reason they haven't abicated, er conceded. They are profiting from it.

Are you talking about the Spanish Flu? Because that would be accurate. It was traced back to an army base in Kansas.

NO one can fix everyone.

Already having a deal in place years before isn't the same thing as what is being discussed here. You see that right? Also if you look at the deals which are signed during this time period and prior to arbitration, none of them are significantly under what the process would give them. They are "market value" deals. If you have any evidence here otherwise, please provide it.

I got sick on Christmas Eve after being at a couple of different work events in Chicago during the preceding two weeks. I don't know what I had, but literally every symptom of what I had is a symptom of covid. Seeing the timeline moved up again, I wonder if I had it before anyone realize what it was. I ran a fever from Christmas Eve until Jan 2, peaking out around 104. Even liberal Advil usage would bring it back to the 101 range. I had the dry cough. I lost my voice completely for about 5 days. I barely had one for a couple of weeks after that. I still haven't completely gotten it back 11 months later. I got pneumonia that took three different steroid cycles to fully beat. I never had any pneumonia before. I was more tired and lethargic than I have ever been. I lost about 15 pounds. I didn’t eat at all for the first four days, and maybe scraps of things for about a week after that. It took a couple of months to get my normal appetite back. My sense of smell was shot, though I didn't notice any taste changes. I tested as negative for the flu. No sneezing or runny nose. Extremely sore throat and nasty deep dry cough.

Matt Stafford would easily be the Bears GOAT QB without even glancing at the stats.

I keep hoping it is because someone is still trying to come up with a TLR exit strategy, but that is wishful thinking. -
Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
southsider2k5 replied to Jose Abreu's topic in The Diamond Club
Your idea of a reaction and mine are vastly different. It's already passed. The spineless Chicago media has already forgotten about it. "General distain" is a great way of saying they rolled over and played dead to protect their access. Sullivan half-assed is way through his write up. Oh noes, the Sox destroyed their good vibes. No call for a firing. No call for Jerry to do the right thing, just a winding justification on how the Sox will do nothing. Morrissey did apparently take a good pass at it, that apparently I missed. Also worth noting that neither have mentioned it since, and neither has the Sox as their primary beat.
