  1. To recap: Nomar Mazara is a good RF No But his batting average is .275 It isn't But he hits a lot of homers Not particularly He plays good defense for a RF HIs dWAR is terrible But he gets lot of assists Leury Garcia had more in a partial season He hits a lot of homers if you only look at the years he didn't suck Still no He hits a lot of homers if you leave out his bad year, and eliminate half of the RFs in baseball Uh, still no But he had a good OPS one year, or maybe it was another year Uh, not if you compare him to other similar players
  2. The idea of trading Grandal really is a non-starter this winter. The idea of trading Vaughn for a pitcher makes a LOT more sense, as teams will be way more in the market to dump salaries and take on cheap cost controlled talent versus an $18 million per year catcher still owed for 3 more years.
  3. This is more like holding White Star lines stock.
  4. You have yet to post one single statistic that supports it. Even your narrowly nitpicked counting stats proved you wrong. 100% wrong.
  5. The one thing we have done for a long time is lock up young talent early. Sale, Quintana, Eaton, Santos, etc were some of the earliest ones.
  6. If you are looking for the 2016 to 2019 RF leaderboard by OPS, Nomar Mazara is 57th overall and 32nd if you narrow it to just the AL.
  7. Something I have been hinting at, but am going to just flat out say now... If you have to actively disqualify half of baseball and entire seasons of baseball to try to argue that someone is a good player, you aren't really proving that they are a good player. The National League is still major league baseball, and what they do, does count. It also doesn't help to disqualify one guys worst season, but not anyone else's. The numbers have been posted over and over again, and no matter how you move the goalposts around, even if you try to isolate down to just a single counting stat, Nomar Mazara has not been a "good" or even average RF. It just isn't true. None of what you have said actually proves out. o matter how many times you wrongly repeat it, it won't be true.
  8. The interesting change to me is that all of the last minute "bombshell" type of stuff totally failed to this point. It seems like most of the country learned from what happened the last time around. It really also seems like pollsters have adjusted to what happened with the turnout late last time around. It might be wishful thinking, but it is looking like the Democrats are going to have a big victory next week. I think the GOP believes that too, hence their rush to get a Supreme Court justice done, but not anything for COVID relief.
  9. I get the feeling that if you don't get your money early this winter, you don't get it.
  10. That makes sense to me, but it would be awesome to have a path to both. Any feel on when the contract dispute in Japan will be cleaned up? Any feel that Cespedes could be ready to play RF for a major league team in 2021?
  11. If it it this coming period, they pretty much have a monetary choice between Cespedes and Colas. Do they have room for both? I can't see both coming for $2 million-ish.
  12. I have been told that .271 is a great batting average for AL RFs between 2016 and 2019.
  13. Best case scenario is that Cespedes can be convinced to sign in this class, and Colas gets pushed back to the next one. Pino might mean that neither is willing/able to sign in this class.
  14. Damn you Mississippi we would have had a perfect score! Oh wait.
  15. I am going to be really upset if a McCann deal costs us in another need.
  16. This is also likely to be the worst free agent market in history, so waiting out another year or two may well be a very good idea.
  17. IIRC, there are no slot trades during this international period.
  18. You probably want to log out and sign back in again in six months since you already know what happens.
