  1. Kopech even got some run in the fall league if I remember right.
  2. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ I am not sure where your charts are being made up from but in terms of COVID deaths per million Sweden 481 Finland 59 Norway 45
  3. This is some trash information. R0 is a real thing.
  4. I remember Rodon being talked about as being ready around the All Star Break, and by the time they start a season, that is about where we will be.
  5. They also still had the Latin American advantages when they started their rebuilds and they spent like crazy to take advantage of it.
  6. Unfortunately someone will come along and list a couple of names as a disqualifier, but as a reminder, just because you are good at something, doesn't mean that you reach everyone.
  7. And we thank them for that. They are the bessssssssssssssssssss
  8. FWIW, the Sox have used good players under long term contracts as a sweetener when it comes to trades, and not as a reason to not trade a player. At this stage the contracts of players like Quintana and Sale were assets and the Sox put them to work to acquire more players. If it gets to stage where there are players pushing established players with contracts, it could set up a scenario for the player in front to be dealt for assets, or the players behind to be dealt for filling any holes they might have at that time.
  9. How many dead people were you hoping for?
  10. The last line is a really good thought. Surrendering on pay now opens the door to salary caps and floors down the road. That might be a part of the reason they push into 100% or nothing territory.
  11. Crochet is the most interesting pick. With a full season he could have been a top 3 if he pitched a whole season like he had started this one, or he could have been a mid-round pick if he had fallen back to his freshman and sophomore years output. I think Kelley probably has the same ranking, but maybe a team is willing to take a chance on him higher if they seem dominate another HS season. There is a real possibility that if 2020 had been played out both Kelley and Crochet were off of the board before we picked. Of course that would have meant someone else slides, but it is an interesting counterfactual to imagine.
  12. That is a good point I really hadn't considered for pitchers in general this year. They are going to be a lot lower mileage than normal because of no baseball this spring. This will allow the Sox to manage their growth instead of the usual path of very few innings pitched in their draft year like usual.
  13. Who all are posters looking at for players we should target as UDFA signings? For obvious reasons, let's exclude anyone who is a high school player and 99.9999% for sure going to college instead of taking $20k to sign.
  14. Let's hear the overall opinions on the overall draft philosophy the Sox employed over the past two days. Did they do it right, or could have they have done better?
  15. Sunday sounds like it opens the UDFA signings period.
  16. The Sox really haven't drafted high school arms to the extent that they have a track record to measure them by. Though with the two they got last year, and now Kelley this year, that will be something put to the test.
  17. If the rumors are true, OF help could be on the way via Cuba on July 2.
  18. This udfa season is going to be really interesting.
  19. Because if he doesn't get what he wants he goes to college. You don't risk it with high picks on hs kids.
  20. When Trout was drafted, you didn't lose picks for going over your allotment. It's a different world now.
  21. I bet they have been talking to guys for weeks and it comes quickly.
  22. This where the Sox reputation for taking care of their own hopefully helps.
