There are those hurt feelings.

There are a lot of people who thrive off of the attention of having a source. Most are trash looking for any attention they can get. We have even sunk to self professed burner accounts. What it all boils down to is that this has not been a conventional set of negotiations probably due to the complete collapse of spending, especially from the traditional spending powers. At the end of the day, I am not even sure Sox management knows exactly what the end game is here, which is going to put a smash on information that could be legit, as we see plenty of people who traditionally had info being wrong over and over again.

I am surprised you are paying any attention to this meaningless event at all. After all, it isn't important enough for anything to happen there.

Sox fans: This franchise is awful. No one should show up, ever. JR is robbing us. Remember the failure of 1977? Also Sox fans: Why do the Cubs have 2 inches more coverage in the Cubune? Think of all of the fans this will cost us! It's not fair!

Why have media at all then? They obviously shouldn't be seeking attention. Why announce anything ever at Soxfest?

Totally this. You have the Chicago sports media at your disposal. The idea that the Sox wouldn't be willing to take advantage of that is just silly and false.

So people could continue to buy tickets to Soxfest in anticipation of something big happening even if no one said it would? Man, the team would hate that.

Yet they did it at Soxfest.

Right now Fulmer could be somewhere around our #4 LH RP, as he hasn't shown he can get people out consistently. Today we are probably looking at Fry #1, and then some combination of Frare, and Bummer in front of him. That is without another guy jumping ahead of him, like a Hunter Schryver.

The idea that the Sox wouldn't be willing to utilize Soxfest as an attention grabbing time period is absurd and false, and contra to history. Perfect example. When did the Sox announce the renaming of New Comiskey Park to US Cellular Field? When you have a concentrated group of both fans AND media in one place for the sole purpose of the White Sox, why wouldn't you take advantage of that? Just because you don't like Soxfest has nothing to do with the organization not taking advantage of a great chance to bite at the apple without sharing with any other sports teams in Chicago.

Yes, why would a business that struggles to get attention and publicity utilize the one time per year when local sports media is concentrated almost exclusively on their organization to garner as much attention as possible? What a dumb idea.
