  1. I always look forward to these rankings and only notionally look at the rest. There is so much more in person research and thought done here. Literally it would take an employee of the White Sox to be able to offer any more information than what FutureSox does.
  2. It's one thing to go after people like me. It is quite another to target someone who hasn't said a thing to you for no other reason than being a joke to you. You should delete this post.
  3. Regardless of what happens with Machado, this starting staff as it stands today is awful. Sure I would expect guys to improve, but 25 games worth? No way.
  4. I was there when it happened. They announced it during opening ceremonies.
  5. Really? You look at Yoan Moncada today and see a guy who is ready for playoff baseball? You look at Giolito and Lopez right now and see pitchers who are ready to anchor a division winner? Again, look back at Javy Baez. Was he ready when he came up? It took him years to learn at the big league level. They are learning at the big league level. It happens. That is precisely why rebuilds take years and not months.
  6. Um, so was that the goalposts that just went flying past me or what? Of that list you probably will see Zavala and Cease if all stays well with him. That is it realistically. After reading this I now understand that the difference between us is reality.
  7. I don't even know where to start with this. Kopech was not READY last year. Cease will not be READY this year. Moncada still isn't READY today. That is 100% not true. Making your major league debut is not READY. Both Kopech and Cease are under innings limitations to start with. Moncada has always The rest of that post is 100% wishful thinking and false memories. At least deal with me in reality. Otherwise this conversation is a waste.
  8. I said from the beginning that it was a dumb idea to have a rebuild done by the same people who were unable to develop young talent for the last decade. But that is in the past now.
  9. As I have said a million times, the ONLY good reason for this is a whale. That changes things. Even with a whale this isn't a playoff team.
  10. You mean while you ignore that the vast majority of the assets that the Sox acquired were years away from the majors, just like the Cubs? The Cubs exploited the international signings, which can't legally be done anymore. The Cubs also had a fan base that allowed them to spend more than the Sox ever will be able to. So yes, there are major differences here.
  11. This is 100% the truth. People begged for a rebuild, and two years later are sick of the rebuild and abandoning the team in droves, just like I predicted. Now they are wanting to waste assets for marginal gain in years where they have no chance in competing.
  12. Considering even the Cubs took 4 full years with an ownership willing to spend and a fanbase willing to stick around, that isn't really true.
  13. 2021 is the 5th year. They started this in winter of 2016, which means 2017 was year 1, 2018 was year 2, 2019 is year 3, 2020 is year 4.
  14. We just watched a much more valuable Pollack sign a deal that will about equal what Pederson is about to make this year in arb. Those free agents exist literally every single year.
  15. Who will be a free agent by the time this team is a contender again. Wait two years and sign him then, just like you would have to if you traded for him now.
  16. They are also not racing on the top circuit for 2019 and probably not 2020 either, so having race cars for this season is a waste of assets.
  17. This isn't an A or B choice. There are other trades and tons of cheap free agents if you want to speed up the process. Again, I have zero interest in wasting future assets simply to make 2019 look prettier on paper. That is the absolute wrong strategy for a team starting its 3rd season of rebuilding.
  18. At this stage of the rebuild, cost of future value is worth WAY more than present WAR. The goal of WAR is 2019 is an awful one to put on an equal level with the future. The entire point of this process is to save as much of all forms of future capital as possible so that when this team is finally ready to go, the Sox have the ability to sustain a run and not be a one hit wonder. There is nothing as worthless as what WAR that Pederson would put up in 2019. THE ONLY reason to value Pederson at all is as a potential asset to attract Machado.
  19. If that is a fair price, I am not interested. Pass and wait on the rest of the system to pan out. If we are talking a LHRP and Bush like was rumored, that is a different story.
