8/8 GT - NYY @ Sox - Severino vs Giolito
southsider2k5 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2018 Season in Review
When you have been called out somewhere around 40 times on pitches out of the zone, you are wrong. -
I never thought that was realistic with the time lines of the players we got in our deals.
-
Middle of the pack is about where we got to in terms of revenue after the World Series. I think we made it has high as 10th or 11th IIRC, so that number might have some recency bias in it.
-
-
I'd like to see it. I wish there was a way to get Jose Rondon up here for the same reason.
-
Uh, oh, I see some meltdowns in the future.
-
I agree with this, and will add that he looks like a mental wreck at the plate who is in between aggressive and passive attacks from pitch to pitch. I wish we had the ability to give him a few days off to clear his head and give him a better mental state at the plate.
-
Historically the Sox waivers stuff doesn't make the news unless someone else is trying to make a deal for a Sox guy and leaks it.
-
Also valid. Rodon is another guy who could bring back a guy like India/Senzel if he keeps pitching like this. I doubt the Reds would have interest, but he is the type of player that would bring back that type of prospect.
-
That is what the Sox would/should ask for, but there is zero chance he makes it through waivers to get a deal done. I also don't see anyone offering that return based on the SSS we have seen so far this season. Maybe if he he finishes out the year this way they get the offer in the off-season, but it doesn't seem reasonable for the August deadline. The problem is if he is pitching like that, you push the rebuild back a season by giving away an ace and trying to find another one internally.
-
My point is I don't see Cincy doing this for Stephens (or someone from that level) and Rutherford.
-
Depends on what you mean by an "arm". If we are talking about Dunning/Cease/Hansen or something like that in our top 10, the Reds would listen. If you are talking about the next tier of Stephens/Adams/Lambert, I can't see it happening.
-
As nice as it would be, it isn't going to happen.
-
Yes, Hahn definitely said this was something discussed, but what I am going at is two middle of the list guys aren't getting you a top of the list guy. If you want a top 50 talent, you will have to trade a top 50 talent to get it.

2018 MiLB White Sox news and notes
southsider2k5 replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
From today's FG chat Rick Hahn: So, looks like my last several high draft picks have been pretty lousy – Fulmer to the pen, Anderson maybe average (flawed) player, Burger injured, Collins can’t catch, Hansen struggling and injured. Madrigal the savior? 12:44 Kiley McDaniel: lol we have another rebuilding fan base hitting the panic button. A mid first rounder like Anderson turning into an average player is a success. Collins could be a 2-3 WAR DH/3rd catcher type. That’s a pretty average track record on first rounders, not something to worry about per se -
From todays FG chat DJ Tanner: Which 2017 International prospects (not named Wander Franco), look to be better than advertised and should rise up the ranks quickly? 12:36 Kiley McDaniel: Luis Robert, Ronny Mauricio, Kristian Robinson, Julio Rodriguez
-
From today's FG chat Dunt: SSS, but Bryce Bush has been absolutely dominating since being drafted in June. What kind of reports did you have on him pre-draft? 12:35 Kiley McDaniel: Some questions on the contact/mechanical consistency, but plus raw and a chance to play 3B

This was mid-edit, this tweets have been fixed.

This was from last week. Below was from last night.

The Sox aren't trading for a guy like Senzel or India. Those guys would require so much capital as to be practically untouchable. Think of a 3B more in the Ryan Cordell mold of impressive numbers, but less regarded. Maybe someone blocked at the major league level. We aren't dealing for a top 50 prospect without giving up a big time guy in return.
-
Why is the assumption that no one has told him to swing at those pitches, when we have people like Renteria on record as saying he needs to swing at more of those pitches?

Top 30 White Sox Prospects, Midseason 2018 - FULL LIST

It isn't even that Rutherford hasn't been good, it is that Gonzalez is looking better. -
Top 30 White Sox Prospects, Midseason 2018 - FULL LIST
southsider2k5 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
For me, the biggest surprise is Rutherford. While he is having a better year, I still don't think he justifies being as high as he is with some of the guys behind him Honestly if you told me to pick an OF from Rutherford down the list, I would take Luis Gonzalez first and not even think about it. At this stage I think Rutherford should be closer to #20 than #10. -
