He was DLd a few days ago.

After seeing the adjustments it has taken for more raw pitchers to adjust up here, I think you want Kopech up sooner versus later if you think he is going to be on teh major league roster in 2019, especially if he has come back around at AAA.
-
It seems like every time there is a chance that Engel could go out, someone in front of him gets hurt. I think Tilson got the chance to prove something, and really didn't show anything either at least in the eyes of management. I have very little doubt that Engels days are number. Even if it isn't in 2018, there is enough talent that is coming through here, that even if Engel starts to hit a bit, there will be enough talented players to dislodge him.

2018 MiLB White Sox news and notes

I hope the Omar scouts half as well as he played SS. -
All of this is 100% true. What is scary is that they are putting up these numbers while raw as hell. They both have tons of room to grow.
-
We have seen some pretty solid progress from him over the last month or so. The good news is that his ERA/WHIP has come down every single month so far this season, so he is making progress as the season moves along.
-
He is a prototypical 4th OF from the old days. He isn't going to hurt you, but he isn't going to help you much either. The choice between he and Engel is practically meaningless, as they both will be out of jobs as soon as the real players start showing up.
-
He is also one you have to watch to get what his impact looks like. He changes the game just by being in the line up.,

Frankly I could see the Yankees interested in Rodon, but not at a high enough price to justify moving him with the questions around him. Also don't see Soria being a real need with the back of the pen the Yanks already have. Avilan would be a better fit. Shields might be marginally better than what they have now, but not sure they couldn't do better without giving up a lot.
-
Frankly I think the writer was a bit insane. Davidson has zero value. Since getting off to the big start, his BA/OBP/OPS have all fallen month over month as the season has gone on. He is walking less, striking out more, and not hitting the ball as hard. His inclusion in a deal does nothing. He has basically fallen back towards his career norms. Soria is Soria. If we got Allard straight up for Soria I would be thrilled, let alone if others were included, even if it meant Davidson being the deal. Again, I don't see it as realistic.
-
I wouldn't mind it for sure. Jace Fry means nothing to me in terms of the future of the rebuild. If his inclusion in a deal can push us up to a Top 100 or higher player, put him on the El to ORD.
-
Unless the Sox picked up a ton of cash, that would push the Yankees right up to the luxury tax number.
-
Jace Fry is a guy who could actually move the needle. My guess is Soria + Fry might be the best deal of all, if we actually wanted to move Fry. That might net us a top 100-ish player.

2018-2019 Official NBA thread

Yikes. Feel bad for the kid. Hopefully he at least signed his rookie deal first. -
That's the fun part. All we can see is the numbers. We literally can only see the stats, and have no idea how these guys actually look.
-
Same. I would love it to happen, but I sure can't squint and see it.
-
San Diego gave up 3 years of Hand, plus 5 years of another young reliever. The price hasn't gone up, more like quality was paid for quality. The same type of price was paid for Miller and Chapman. The Sox don't have any relievers in this category.
-
I have a hard time calling Soria a high leverage reliever, even if he has been closing for the White Sox. His stuff is largely gone and he gets by on deception for the most part. Shields is basically the same description. While I think he could help a team in the 6th and 7th innings, he isn't going to be an 8th or 9th inning guy for a team looking to make the playoffs. Just thinking back to what the Yankees gave up for David Robertson, Tommy Kahnle and Todd Frazier, I can't put the package of players we are talking about here anywhere NEAR that group. We got a back end top 100 player and some other pieces for that group. I can't expect something even close to that for Soria, Shields and Avilan.
-
Thinking about that from a contenders point of view, I don't see it. Shields, while having recovered majorly, still isn't really going to move the needle on a deal. In terms of value to other teams (even assuming that the Sox pick up major dollars on these deals) probably looks like 1. Soria 2. Avilan 3. Yolmer 4. Shields 5. Cedeno Past that, I don't really see anyone having any real value or chance of being traded (Abreu, Avi, Nate Jones, Rodon)
-
If there is a realistic chance of them making the team out of camp next year, the point is moot. If they plan on waiting past next years control deadline, then it is a different story.
-
They can, but we don't have a Chapman, or even a Kahnle this year. Soria should bring something, but it won't be a top 100 guy.
-
I have to imagine that at the very least Kopech will be up for September. I would bet on Jimenez as well to try to make up some of the ABs he didn't get this season due to injury, but I would be much less certain.
-
Interesting. Hopefully they gave up a lot of get him.
-
Tilson is the one legitimate name here. Cordell is still in rehab, coming back from a season long injury. He hasn't played competitive baseball for over a year. Delmonico is the person who is coming up.
