If he doesn't so what? He is a place-filler.

Sorry, I am not willing to freak out about a $2.5 million deal. It isn't 1980 anymore, this is what bench players cost.

$2.5 million is expensive?

A spaceholder until Seby is ready.

Bryce Harper is bad until he proves he isn't bad /Jack Parkman, probably

Or, Albert Belle did sign here for the most money in major league history? My irrelevant factoid is better.

Would you really trust Ozzie with the future face of the franchise? I wouldn't.

If nothing else I absolutely love that so many Sox players are actively recruiting Harper. Who knows if it works or not, but I love the effort.

Kind of a different thread, but to see what people think the highest pain points should be for Machado or Harper. What should the highest offer to them be in terms of years/total salary/opt outs? How high/long should the White Sox offer to get one of them, and what is too much? Side question, has anyone broached the idea of offering a small minority ownership share to catch his interest? If this is valued as a billion dollar franchise, a 1% stake would be worth $10 million and could catch his attention as something that really hasn't been done yet. The question for me, is that something that is allowable?

This.

It is amazing how quickly the team fell apart when he left.

And trailed for over 500 of them.

Yep, 11 now. This is an amazing fall from grace.

Yeah, no.

This team...

Damn.

While I would not kick Bryce out of bed, Manny is so much better of a fit.

At Soxtalk we call that the Fathom effect.

It was only 1980 that the first player got a million dollar annual salary. Now we are over 30 X's that.
