  1. These are the numbers from 2018. I am sure they will go up a bit in 2019, but it gives you an idea of the differences JUST in round one. The difference between 3/4 is over half a million dollars. It is over a million from 3/5, and almost 1.5 million from 3/6. 3. Phillies: $6,947,500 4. White Sox: $6,411,400 5. Reds: $5,946,400 6. Mets: $5,525,200
  2. This is literally reasons 1-5 for a guy like Manny Machado. If he wanted to be comfortable, he would have resigned in Baltimore years ago. If he wanted to be in a particular market, he would have demanded a trade years ago. Instead he moved through his six years of service without doing either, so he could get to free agency ASAP.
  3. Smart guy. He gets to have his cake knowing his party won't vote for it, and then eat it to by voting yes anyway.
  4. Everything being said, I do see this as the most likely scenario.
  5. It just amazes me how partisan we have become. People see everything through their eyes of their party versus right and wrong.
  6. And one where witnesses weren't allowed, and the defendent refused to answer any tough questions.
  7. My interpretations were that he was saying that they guy we want might not be there when we are ready to compete, and if the guy you really want is there now, they have the flexibility to sign them now. Maybe if you read the comment in isolation, but if you read all of them and string them together, he is clearly saying they really like one of the top level players on the market, and they want to sign them, but can't predict if it will work out or not.
  8. Reading the Rick Hahn lawyer-speak, this is exactly how I read it. Using the checked boxes example, he is the one that checks all of the boxes that match up with Hahn's points.
  9. It isn't going to be next year, and it isn't probably going to be the year after that. This a rebuild, not a resurrection. Next year will be better. Maybe we even push .500. The bulk of the talent isn't even in the upper minors yet. Keep that in perspective.
  10. I am still not willing to put him into the top tier based on this one year until he repeats this at least once.
  11. It reminds me of Trump in the way that he seems to think that nothing he does has consequences, nor does he ever have a bad idea. I get the feeling that he hasn't surrounded himself with people who are able to tell him no. He seems genuinely surprised by all this.
  12. Not for what he did. Being intimately familiar with the SEC and how they operate this might be one of the easiest prosecutions they ever have. On top of that this is a standard punishment for someone who engages in these types of crimes.
  13. Backing up the truck for Yelich in the first year of the rebuild? It would have been worse than the Supreme Court drama today.
  14. Only if you have no idea what a rebuild looks like.
