  1. Early bet: With Singer to the Royals, Fathom becomes his biggest fan.
  2. That is the entire premise of these reports. Teams have interest in Shields. If we get back a Forbes level player back, Shields can jump in the minivan and I will haul him to ORD.
  3. All I know is that Soxtalk is way too happy about this pick, so now Madrigal will bust hardcore.
  4. BA's last mock has us with Singer, MLB.com has us with Madrigal.
  5. Typicallly with Soxtalk the bigger the meltdown, the better off for the franchise it is.
  6. Everyone LOVED Hawkins when he was drafted. It was the big "change in philosophy" and it meant that the Sox weren't "playing it safe" anymore.
  7. I saw a lot of Carlos Lee, and he was no where near this bad. One more name actually comes to mind. 1986 Carlton Fisk in LF.
  8. After round 10 the consequences go way down. The bonus is basically zero and they don't have a slot space to give up if you don't sign him. He will go somewhere between round 11 and 40.
  9. I would say near 100% certainty not in the next two days. If it happens, and I would imagine it will... it will be on day 3.
  10. The other part of things is that it really doesn't matter if those guys all continue to suck. In fact it gives the White Sox a chance to answer questions about guys like Engel, Tilson, and Thompson. I could be totally wrong but I don't think that the Sox will move on either Pressley or Saunders unless another injury happens quickly. In fact I think the more likely scenario is that one of them is released when Eloy is ready to take over in Charlotte.
  11. It would be my guess but I doubt it. I mean more injuries could happen, god knows we have Charlie Tilson on the roster right now, but I don't think the Sox want to add anyone else to the 40 man roster at this point so they will take the pain of playing whoever is on it. The 40 is full, so to add someone means they have to subtract someone else, plus they are still going to be making a spot for Rodon in a week or so, plus have Kopech looming by September at the latest. That is two roster spots, or two more people to remove. Leury sounded like he should be back fairly quickly. No idea what is going on with Avi, but he should be back soon enough, last projection was the end of June. Nicky went on the DL for a 4 to 6 week injury about two weeks ago.
  12. Exactly. And it isn't like we got some great history with Shields. It wouldn't shock me at all if he went right back to being the exact same garbage pitcher he has been for the last two years. As soon as we can send him out of Chicago, we should.
  13. I mean you are probably right, but I can't speak to the kids worth ethic or training programs either. If it were me, knowing the difference in demand between a 1b/DH type and a RF/LF type, I would be spending every waking second in the OF trying to make a name there if I were Palka. Odds are extremely high that you are 100% right and he will always suck there.
  14. And it still took 3 DL trips by different OFs all at the same time for the other two to get to play regularly.
  15. For his own career, he should be in the OF practicing at every single chance he gets. Batting practice, fungos, etc. If he can make himself into even a serviceable OF, he has a long career ahead of him.
  16. If he could play even a high school level OF, there would be a lot of excitement about him. The problem is he is probably the worst OF I have seen in my lifetime, at least since Ivan Calderon.
  17. Bart is one we know can actually catch defensively. That is a big thing.
