Bernie PleskoffVerified account @BerniePleskoff 8m8 minutes ago Interesting rumor-#Mets get Profar from #Rangers for Matt Harvey. Just a rumor being discussed on MLB TV. Both would get a fresh start, that's for sure. I think Profar has lots left in his tank and has never had a chance. I still think he can play CF. -

QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 12:49 PM) That's a good point but to counter that maybe after Trump's victory people feel embolden to openly support a sexual predator as long as they play for your team? That well could be. Who knows.

The fact that we have zero members of the 2017 opening day bullpen on the 40 man roster today is mind blowing.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 11:13 AM) So the latest two polls in Alabama are: Moore +9 (Emerson) Jones +10 (Fox news, which is a perfectly legitimate and typically good pollster) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I get the feeling this will be a lot like the last Presidential election where a lot of people who won't admit to voting for Moore will do exactly that and Moore will outperform the polls.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 12:32 PM) Right now what the universe is telling me is...the guy came up showing an incredibly quick bat and developable skills, but then the team that saw him the most, the Yankees, tossed him aside for a big money slugger they did not need to acquire if they believed in Frazier. Let's be realistic here. Clint Frazier at his absolute ceiling is a guy you dump in about two seconds if you get Gio Stanton for basically nothing but his contract. It doesn't take the universe to figure that one out. That doesn't mean he has no value. That is an incredible overreaction to the reigning MVP and HR champ falling into your lap almost by accident.

QUOTE (Scoots @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 11:19 AM) I apologize if this has been stated already, but here is part of what Renteria said on the score the other day regarding Abreu and Garcia... "I think their impact in our clubhouse on the other players is significant. They would require (in return) a whole lot of talent that would impact our organization as a whole for a long time to come. I think what they bring currently impacts us now and possibly into the future. They do that by the way they carry themselves and the way they prepare. They are a voice in that clubhouse. If we are going to develop a particular identity for ourselves as we continue to chip away, it’s important to have people like that who have grown up in this organization. They offer a lot both on and off of the field." I agree with Renteria here. It was obvious last season the comeraderie in the clubhouse was excellent, especially toward the end. I believe the health and chemistry of a clubhouse is just as important to the development of the potential elite young talent. Abreu and Garcia have already started developing those relationships with players and are solidifying themselves as leaders, which is what those young guys need. I think their mere presence in that clubhouse (as well as their potential to lead on the field as well) is leaps and bounds more important to the development of the future of this team than any prospects they might get back in return, or JBJ. Even if Ricky knows they want to trade Jose and Avi, this is exactly what he should be saying for the benefit of his clubhouse.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 11:18 AM) When the new top 100 rankings come out sometime in January I fully expect Hansen to take a pretty significant leap. The stuff is there and the control is improving. Frazier is overrated, and unless he's a plus defensive center fielder I don't think the bat will stick at a corner. Power potential is great, but only if you make enough contact to use it. Fangraphs was really down on his 2017 performance, rating him below replacement level offsensively, and -5.8 defensively...which is cause for concern. Buyer beware. The guy had 142 ML plate appearances and 289 total innings in the field, all for a guy logging his first major league time at Age 22. Jumping off of a bridge because of that sample is pretty dangerous. You have to trust your scouts.

QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 10, 2017 -> 07:48 PM) Something has changed in the "culture" It's not just a talent thing. There is NO energy from Kane, Toews Saad, Keith ect. I wonder if Q has stopped reaching the locker room? It has been something close to a decade now. -
Brewers Reportedly Shopping OF’ers
southsider2k5 replied to TheFutureIsNear's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 9, 2017 -> 05:41 PM) What if the Brewers were interested in Fulmer? Which 1, if any, of their OF'ers would you trade Fulmer for? Pretty much any of the top rated ones. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 10, 2017 -> 04:51 PM) Wasn't it Ozzie who messed this up for us? That's how I remember it.
-
I don't see a realistic match between the teams, but I would be interested in Frazier for sure. Just because a guy doesn't show out in his first ML exposure doesn't mean he has failed completely. Hell that kind of thinking probably got us Yoan and Lucas.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 9, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) If the choice is "more dead police officers" or "More people killed by police officers", we need to be smart enough to find a third option. Your statement could be misinterpreted the same way as "you are quite literally advocating for more people murdered by police officers". Not when one side is using more hateful, inciteful, and provocative language to create the situation that exists. Honestly it is similar or worse than how Trump's description of immigrants was portrayed, yet barely anything is said. The whole, don't let the few define the whole thing? Nope.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 11:23 PM) By my definition I said it was no big deal that Jenks came from the Angels, But OK when the Sox have the positions players and starting pitching to take them deep in the playoffs but not a dominant pen remember all this discussion on the Sox magically finding World Series worthy relief from our minor league system. I'm not saying the Sox won't have the pen necessary to win a World Series just that I think a couple of pieces are acquired from outside the organization either by trade or free agents. Sure. But not now. Maybe not even after next off-season. You see what you have first before spending money you might not need to spend, and that doesn't help you now.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 06:50 PM) Are you actually suggesting that a material amount of those shootings deaths were unnecessary? If so, on what grounds are you basing this on? They are quite literally advocating for more dead police officers.
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 09:51 PM) Kind of was waiting for the Jenks answer . He came from the Angels and while that in itself is not a big deal you could only name one and that was 13 years ago. Can we really expect anyone to just become a dominant RP with only a year or 2 in the bigs from our minors ? The Sox loaded up and guys who could throw hard before in the Aardsma era and that didn't work out so well. This is a franchise has created all kinds of relievers. The fact that we aren't talking about superstar relievers isn't a big surprise as there aren't that many out there in the first place. This team might have loaded up on relievers before, but this group is nothing like that. We are talking about multiple guys who have hit 103 in the same system. I would be curious how many teams have created multiple franchise type closers over that 13 year span. Hell even #1 in Chapman wasn't created by anyone. He came out of Cuba, so by your definition he apparently doesn't count.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 05:00 PM) And I support looking at policies and ways we can reduce deaths of police officers, including charging people with crimes that injure or kill police. I, uh, also think the flip side should occur. I have no problem with that at all. As I have said before, the laws are the biggest impediment to that. The flip side of that is a situation like in Chicago and Baltimore where the police feel like they are under attack enough they basically quit policing and leave entire neighborhoods to destroy themselves. Not quite sure where the sweet spot in all of that actually is.
