  1. The interesting thing is that as of yesterday, both the Tigers and the Phillies have full 40 man rosters in front of us. That doesn't stop them from trading picks, but it could move us up to the #2 if they don't make a move very soon. https://www.mlb.com/news/2017-mlb-rule-5-dr...iew/c-263198194
  2. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 01:15 PM) Nick Burdi, Twins spec, available in Thursdays Rule V draft. Out half of next year with TJS, but certainly a good arm. Seeing who is out there, I think this is my #1 choice.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 01:20 PM) We spent what, $25 million on Robert and gave up the ability to sign a top flight international player for 2 years and the "over the limit" signing penalty? For Ellsbury we'd be taking on $63 million, so way more money than Robert although no signing penalty? Basically it has to be someone who is comparable to Robert, if not better, since most of that $63 million is valueless to us. We're talking Frazier or Torres or someone at the very top of the Yankees system who can step in and be an all star by 2020. The rumor is that the Yankees have been willing to eat about half of that.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 01:03 PM) I understand that, but the post I was replying to talked about Ellsbury being worth about 1/2 his deal. He might well perform like a 1.5 win player each of the next 3 years and that's a tolerable CF, but if that takes playing time away from someone who could develop into a big leaguer that hurts us in a different way. There's a cost associated with us giving him playing time when we could be developing a useful piece of our own. Then you bench him. Again the point is to buy a prospect you might not be able to get otherwise.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 02:57 PM) It means he's old. QFT
  6. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) Yolmer Sanchez for Clint Frazier, Justus Sheffield, and Jacoby Ellsbury? If the Yankees pick up the half of his money that has been the rumor, I'd be on it.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) What makes the White Sox better long term, playing someone like Engel or Polo in CF and someone like Delmonico at LF/DH, or playing Ellsbury and hoping he recovers enough value to be tradeable at some point? If we were going to take on an Ellsbury and do anything other than dump him, I'd only want to do it if Garcia was moved. That clears a spot where now we can do Ellsbury and Delmonico both in the lineup regularly and there's still room for the beast. We would take on Ellsbury to get ahold of another player from the Yankees system. We'd buy a prospect just like the Padres did with Headley.
  8. QUOTE (Superstar Lamar @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) I wonder if they could make a play on Frazier by taking on a bad contract like Ellsbury Ellsbury has a full no trade and sounds like he has zero interest in leaving NYC.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 10:46 AM) Link The scuttle seems to be that Blash will eventually get waived. Don't forget the White Sox did draft and try to sign Blash. Might be a future waiver claim looking down the road.
  10. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) Blame millennials because it's millennials fault. And not old people for creating the mess in the first place...
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) I don't know why anyone would give up anything of value honestly. He's not going to re-sign anywhere. He'd be a fool not to reach free agency. Unless there was an extension window given in a trade, no way.
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 07:13 AM) The rough, tough, yelling, berating manager will not communicate well with millennials. I don't think kicking coworkers in the nuts works well at any age level, but maybe that is just me.
  13. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 11:56 PM) It's the same principle of not trading within the division. Don't trade to Indians, Yanks, Red Sox, Houston, and LA. Everyone else I'm okay with. Abreu and Avi will both be good baseball players when we are contending, we just don't want to pay for age and possible fall back down to Earth. Unless you are wanting to send Eloy back to the Cubs and take an inferior offer, I don't want to hear about not trading with rivals.
  14. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 10:41 PM) Corporate America deals with the challenge of dealing with millennial attitudes every day these days. Surprised we don't read more about that as it relates to professional sports. lmao, what does AJ's attitude problems have to do with anything with millennials?
  15. Jon Heyman‏Verified account @JonHeyman 13m13 minutes ago Matt Adams didn’t have a great trade market but he’s drawing interest as a free agent. Nats royals Indians via @jcrasnick
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 04:06 PM) It is horribly written but I assume it means the most active the Sox will be is during the Rule V draft. It took me a second, but that was the same conclusion I came to.
  17. The second part of this is something I hadn't seen yet, and is very noteworthy. James Fegan‏ @JRFegan 21m21 minutes ago Jose Contreras is also coming back to the White Sox as an ambassador and helping international prospects acclimate to living in the US
  18. Jon Heyman‏Verified account @JonHeyman 21s22 seconds ago Neshek $16M-plus agreement with phillies is pending a physical. 2 yrs via @BNightengale
  19. Mark Gonzales‏ @MDGonzales 1m1 minute ago Jose Contreras also will join The White Sox as an ambassador, helping minor leaguers as well

  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 02:59 PM) Everyone here was down on both after their first cup of coffees in the bigs. People look way too into small sample sizes. Funny how that works... Then again, I don't think anyone in their wildest dreams ever even gave Judge a ceiling of what he did last year. Severino has had some pretty big hype though and wasn't as much of a surprise.
  22. Paul Skrbina‏ @ChiTribSkrbina 1h1 hour ago Cody Franson likely out Tuesday for Blackhawks. Quenneville said he'd like to get Hartman back in. Said "we'll see" when asked whether Panik would play.
  23. Bob Nightengale‏Verified account @BNightengale 52m52 minutes ago Stanton has no intention to opt out, agent Joel Wolfe says out of #Yankees deal
  24. Jerry Crasnick‏Verified account @jcrasnick 35m35 minutes ago The #Royals have let teams know reliever Joakim Soria is available. He’ll make $9 million next year, and they’d like to move some money. Jason Hammel could also be available in trade. Like Soria, he’s signed for $9 million in 2018.
  25. Jeff Passan‏Verified account @JeffPassan 21m21 minutes ago The backstory of the Giancarlo Stanton trade is bonkers. Miami threatened that if he didn’t accept a trade to St. Louis or San Francisco, he would be a Marlin for life. He called their bluff. And because of it, he’s a New York Yankee.
