  7. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 04:08 PM) I drool over the superstar potential of Maitan as well, but if we are looking at a deadline deal for Q it will be to a contender. Despite being across town, Quintana to the Cubs makes alot of sense. Arrieta is likely gone after this season, and Lackey is looking washed up. Would a Jimenez/Cease/Candelario deal end up benefiting both sides? Cubs window is the next 2-3 seasons before players start hitting expensive arbitration years and Lester really ages. Quintana gives them a cost controlled starter, keeping money free to pursue a high priced free agent starter. Cubs do not have any minor league starters that are close to the major league level right now. I don't think this ends up happening, but in a vacuum it makes sense for each side. The Cubs top 3 for Q? Yeah, done.

  11. Of note on Micker, last year he had 283 PA's and struck out 96 times, for a K rate of 33.9%. This year he is at 266 PA's with 78 K's, so that has come down to 29.3%. He had 15 BB in 283 PAs for a walk rate of once per 18.87 PAs, this year it is 14 in 266 PA's or 19 PA/BB. K/BB has gone from 6.4 to 5.6. He isn't walking any more, but he is making a lot more contact.
  12. Has anyone out there watched Turn about the Culper Ring of Washington's spies during the Revolutionary War?
  13. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:46 PM) Q is our last major trade chip and I agree that the Sox won't want to center a deal around such a young player as Maitan. Plus, his mlb ETA would have to be late 2020 or 2021 at the earliest right now? He hasn't taken a swing yet in North American baseball. 2020 would have him debut at 20. That seems pretty quick to me, but then again, if he is as good as has been advertised, that might be possible. My guess would be more like 2022 or so.
  14. QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:38 PM) so they're under the 5% threshold but pay a tax on that correct? Yep, they pay 75% on approximately the 35ish thousand dollars they went over. Technically they can go as far as $396,070 over, so in addition to where they are now, they could offer a HS player a deal of around $485k (125k slot + the remaining $360ish thousand they have left under the 5% threshold) and still stay in that 75% tax bracket... without losing a pick.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:16 PM) Agreed. I'm hoping he's suggesting something like Maitan/Pache/Jackson is fair? Alex Jackson has had a pretty nice rebound year so far, and is back catching again. That would be a piece I would like to get a hold of as well.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:11 PM) How about Hansen? Has he been good enough to warrant top 50, even top 25 consideration? Now that is a guy that could have a legit shot at top 100 status. He has been pitching like an ace for basically a full season now.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:08 PM) Now you made me do my own spreadsheet, lol. OK you're right, they have $264,400 left in pool money, Skoug's slot is $201,700, so they have $62,700 overage room left within pool.
  18. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 01:45 PM) Seriously, where have you been the past 5 years? The fans care about the crap on the field exhibit: 2013-2016 seasons. The only place that happens is 8 miles north of here.
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 01:51 PM) Can we lock this and have Ron remake it?
  20. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 02:41 PM) Look, with where the salary structure of the roster, I would argue that it would remain a better deal to be more certain about what the organization was committing to. With the extension, the organization is 100% certain what it is committed to. Without the extension they would not have any certainty at all.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 01:51 PM) I'm beginning to think you mean this literally If that is what it takes to get him into the White Sox system...
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 02:27 PM) They are $112,800 ahead in the top 10 rounds, plus an extra 25k each to Wilcanon and Yurchak in rounds 11&12 to make $62,800+
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 02:15 PM) Thanks for the finds on the Louisville pair. But I'm pretty sure the Sox are a little over 100k ahead on pool. They are $112,800 ahead in the top 10 rounds, plus an extra 25k each to Wilcanon and Yurchak in rounds 11&12 to make $62,800+
  24. With the two Louisville signings, the Sox are sitting an estimated $62,800 ahead of their bonus pool number, with Evan Skoug left to sign. With his slot of $201,700, the Sox can offer him an estimated $264,500 signing bonus without going over their pool total and into tax territory. The Sox also can go over their team allotment of $7,921,400 by up to 5%, or $396,070, if they are willing are to pay a 75% tax penalty. Anything over that total would result in an additional loss of a draft pick.
  25. Devan Fink‏Verified account @DevanFink 7h7 hours ago Source: White Sox have agreed to sign 6th rounder (No. 177) Kade McClure to a $330,000 bonus. RHP from Louisville gets overslot.
