  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 12:38 PM) ...and Wade... and Melo. Banana Boat crew in New York next year. Book it. Man that crew would be a huge disaster in this day and age.

  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 12:14 PM) Can you get a good seat on the lower level for under 40 bucks? I just got second row seats in section 150 for 45 each for this saturday's game.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 11:33 AM) I will say right now...I would have rather kept Butler and traded for CP3...then taken a run at LBJ next off-season. Probably a pipe dream, but It would have been my strategy. That said, I didn't expect Chris Paul to be that much in play. CP3 never indicated he wanted to come here. Harden convinced him to take a deal to come to Houston, and exercise an option to do so. He had been planning on declining it and going into free agency for a payday.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 11:49 AM) This is an outstanding post. Two things that were implicit in your post, but perhaps that I will add: 1) "You do you" - the White Sox seem to be very successful at developing pitching - much more so than with developing positional players - to me, that justifies a "lean" towards selecting undeveloped or underdeveloped pitching in drafts and when trading for prospects that are somewhat far away, while signing more developed position players or veteran position players in free agency and via trade. 2) Trends - sometimes enough teams go one way so as to create an opportunity to go the other way. If the rest of the league follows a trend of selecting positional player prospects such that a market inefficiency is created, by all means, we need to exploit it. This would be the same if the trend was towards pitching prospects and it left more positional players available. For the first, I would argue that the Sox could very well get better mileage by bringing in the positional prospects that someone else has put in the resources to draft and develop, versus themselves, in exchange for those things we develop well, pitching.
  6. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 11:56 AM) It's really not very expensive. I've told you this every single time you post something like this. You never respond though. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Germans? Forget it, he's rolling.

  15. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 11:05 AM) So the Cavs had a deal in place to trade Kyrie to the Suns for Bledsoe and the 4th pick, and then they were going to trade the 4th pick for George. All of that was in place but the Cavs wanted a long term commitment from Lebron and they couldn't get one. Sounds like Lebron is as good as gone after next season. Knowing him, he is going to Golden State.

  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 10:25 AM) It's very possible that a team like the Rays decides to spend $10 million internationally. They have a couple big expenditures already. They have $5.75 million to spend. They can trade for $4.25 million more. It's possible that they trade the White Sox or someone else a prospect or 2 for $1.5-$2 million in international money. The Sox need to use this money but it might not be for players. It will be interesting to see with the cap being a hard cap now, if the cap room becomes a more precious commodity than it was under the previous CBA. Basically teams would trade either a garbage prospect, player a team wanted to get rid of anyway, or include it into as a last piece of a bigger deal. Now could it actually mean a more significant player? It could be interesting.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 10:02 AM) I hope they use it somehow. Gonna be tough to spend it all though without big $ items. I'd be cool if they spent $3 million and traded away another $1.5 million. There are about 10 teams who are going to be in the market for $300k players. Seeing as all have a budget of $4.75 million and higher, I don't see there being a couple of hundred players out there who fit under this umbrella for all of these teams to sign, in addition to having enough players for all of the teams that aren't in the penalty phase too. I think the Sox spend around a million dollars due to lack of player supply, and teams who aren't in the penalty phase being able to bid them just slightly out of the reach of teams who are in the the penalty phase.
  21. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:38 PM) What he's probably saying is all countries have been meddling in elections forever. Pretending this is some sort of news is the problem. It was only made public to take the heat off Clinton and now continues in an effort to undermine Trump. Obama should have never made any of this public, that's the problem. It completely embarrasses Western democracy giving legitimacy to it. Acknowledging it publicly is the best thing that could have ever happened to Russia. They messed with the West and for some stuuuuupid reason, we gave them credit. You gotta keep that s*** under wraps, like we have for decades. That's Rule #1. People actually think this is new and that it's serious, that's the problem. They'd rather rot the relationship to score some political points unlike when they were the ones leading the way in places like Cuba, Iran, and North Korea, and pretended like the bad things didn't matter there.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 09:32 AM) Great stuff thank you. Will be interesting to see how many players we sign. Could be funny like the NBA, where the creation of a "max" on a number of teams means a lot of players that wouldn't have received 300k use it as goal post to hit. If we don't hit our bonus pool I'd hope we trade some of it out for whatever that market proves (maybe it just ends up being cash) This is what I am expecting. There will be a decent amount of 200k guys in former years who end up in the 325k to 350k range.
